  1. This sucks! I was always proud to have worked at Norwalk Raceway Park.........that name puts our town on the map! From the Norwalk Reflector http://www.norwalkreflector.com/fullstory.html?sku=2006110212170323256&s=reflectornews Norwalk Raceway Park changes name The newest National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) venue in Norwalk has a new identity, and it has nothing to do with its current $4 million expansion project. Formerly known as Norwalk Raceway Park, the facility has changed its name to Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park. Summit Racing Equipment, the world's largest direct-mail and Internet supplier of high-performance automotive parts, signed a track entitlement agreement which gives the company naming rights to the facility. ...

Great news for Cincinnati! Although I was in Barnes and Noble this past weekend looking at a Midwestern Travel Book; it actually showed Cincinnati's population as a couple thousand people LESS than Toledo......... Who knows! But I'd take the Census Bureau's info over a travel book's info anyway! Anyway, congrats Cincinnati! Now if only Cleveland could grow :)

  5. From the 10/17/06 Norwalk Reflector T&C board OKs sale of Norwalk Theatre An agreement to sell the Norwalk Theatre, 57 E. Main St., also known as the Towne and Country Theatre, has been signed by the T&C board and Steve and Teresa LaFountain of Kalamazoo, Mich. This has happened before in the 11 years the theater’s been on the market, said Ronn Koerper. “Right now, nothing’s changed,” he said. Teresa LaFountain said she and her husband are already planning several events in the theater, including a Dec. 2 event with Santa Claus in the lobby and, potentially, a showing of the family film “Polar Express.” They also have scheduled a country and Christmas classics concert with John Berry on Dec. 14. The couple plans to refurbish the theater — they hope to create an “opulent” feel — over the next several years, beginning with the lobby. The upgrades should include new concessions, including fountain pop and a larger popcorn maker. Read more at http://www.norwalkreflector.com/fullstory.html?sku=2006101715242609245&s=reflectornews

  7. Wood County OKs bond for health center project Toledo Blade, 10/18/06 Wood County commissioners yesterday approved a $20 million bond issue for Otterbein Homes, which plans to expand in Perrysburg, Pemberville, and several other locations in the state. The health-care facilities’ revenue bonds, which will be issued through Warren County, will enable Otterbein to add 10 skilled nursing home beds at Otterbein North Shore in Lakeside at a cost of $1.75 million, to create 50 nursing home beds at a new facility off Five Point Road in Perrysburg at a cost of $7.15 million, and have 50 nursing home beds at a new facility on Black Road in Monclova Township at a cost of $7.32 million. Otterbein, a nonprofit corporation, also plans to replace 50 nursing home beds with 26 assisted-living units at Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Living Community in Pemberville at a cost of $2.65 million.

    1) I wish I got a price rollback. 2) I wish Ohio had something like Illinois' I-Pass or the east coast's EZ-Pass. 3) It costs more money to travel half the Ohio Turnpike than all of Indiana's. 4) The Illinois Tollway system is awful (save, I-Pass). 5) Why didn't they make I-70 the turnpike, instead? Oh by the way, I just took a computer programming test and I think I failed. 9pm exams suck! :whip: So don't argue with my opinions!
  9. I'm not too fond of beer. The only kind I can stand is Heineken (for some reason, I may never know why). But whille in Hawaii, I fell for the Lilikoi Wheat Ale from Kona Brewing Company!

  17. Those are amazing shots!
  18. Actually I think a volunteer firefighter drowned while trying to rescue two boys outside of Wellington. And when I was driving to work that morning.....I was actually scared! Some of the roads that I drive on don't cross a creek or ditch, and yet there were raging waters flowing over them and large lakes formed on places where one would think of as high ground! It was amazing to see a river flowing through the drive-in theater (which is not near the river); see a semi halfway underwater near an underpass, watch picnic tables floating alongside the road, see farm fields that look like the Florida Everglades, etc. An awesome thing that I saw was a couple days after the flood when I took my dog for a walk down a road that was still closed. Lamereaux Road (if you look on the map, it is just south of the red flag) runs along a cliff down to the river and the water that ran down that road carved 8-foot-deep trenches through the pavement and ground; the road was narrower than the average width of a sidewalk. I was actually surprised they reopened the road! RV..........I wish I could have taken some pics of Franklin Flats and Norwalk (which was hit the hardest) but by the time I could the floodwaters had receded majorly. Thank goodness no lives were lost in town; primarily due to the quick response of the emergency services. It'll be tough for the flood victims for years to come.......I wish 'em well! All in all, while devastating, I thoroughly respect the awesome power of Mother Nature.
  19. Creepy!

  21. Totally off-topic, but does anyone know why CBS-2 in Pittsburgh has the call-letters "KDKA"? I thought K--- was reserved for stations west of the Mississippi River and W--- were stations east of the Mississippi?
