  1. I am so jealous...........I wish I was there
  2. If anything, give the franchise to Dayton. They always get the shaft

Game 5 Cavs 121 Wizards 120 (overtime) Lebron James with an easy lay-up to win the game with 2 seconds left! :-D
  4. I have traveled on every section of this horseshoe-like road (accept for a little portion near Grafton) but this is honestly one continuous road, 75 miles in length. We have some strange shaped roads in this state! I won't bore you all with the intricate details, so here's a picture:
  5. Not in Cleveland (I guess you could call it the hinterlands :)), but this east-to-west road spans part of the north central / northeast areas of Ohio. If you look at a map, this road is the boundary line between many counties; also, it is the south boundary line of the Firelands / Western Reserve. It starts off on the Crawford-Seneca county line as Crawford-Seneca County Line Road just north of New Washington. Then it straddles the Crawford-Huron county line as Crawford-Huron County Line Road on the southern side of the road, while it takes on the name Baseline Road on the northern (Huron County) side of the road. The road passes through New Pittsburgh. Then it straddles the Huron-Richland county line as Baseline Road (both counties use that name). The road passes through Plymouth (called Broadway Street in town). The road then enters Ashland County and becomes County Road 500. It passes just north of Cinnamon Lake. Next the road enters Medina County as Jeffrey Road. The road continues a little further, straddling the Medina-Wayne county line before ending just northeast of West Salem (not too far from I-71 and the Lodi Outlet Mall). Total length, 42 miles. And only 1.3 miles of it is a State Route (Rt 103 for 0.7 miles, Rt 511 for 0.3 miles, and Rt 603 for less than 0.1 miles) And yes......today I have a lot of time on my hands!!!!!
  6. Miller's homemade ice-cream shack in Birmingham! They make one mean mango shake ;)
  7. Yeah, I've always loved how the Toledo media seems to always focus on Michigan. Oh, and PA is just as close as well!!!
  8. Oops. Everyone makes mistakes, Mr. Blackwell
  9. I am out-of-state at school, so I opted to vote absentee. My home county, Erie, still uses the optical scan (fill-in-the-bubble ballots) method of voting; and I did that a couple of weeks ago. I wonder what's going to happen if my county switches to touch-screen voting? Will absentee voters still use the optical scan? I'm guessing yes, but who knows.......this is Ohio after all........ :-D

Well, one can always look on the bright side: Since Cleveland is in last place, I guess it shows that northern Ohioans aren't full of themselves (:)) and have more importants things to worry about than voting for a monopoly game :) .......like preparing to vote in the primary tomorrow or browsing the UrbanOhio forums!!!!!!! :)

Well now if that isn't enough proof for God's existence I don't know what is!!! :sarcasm:
  14. My personal favorites in no particular order (forgive me if I sound like a tour guide LOL): Norwalk (Huron County): First and foremost, it's my hometown. It can't really claim too much fame in the area's tourism industry (accept Norwalk Raceway Park, which draws people from all over the world), but you will be pleasantly surprised if you know where to go. Norwalk is your typical New England town, accept it's in the Great Lakes! Uptown (the central business district) is fairly active with most storefronts occupied. You can start the day off with some coffee at Sheri's (complete with a sidewalk cafe) and then do some window shopping along Ohio 61 (Main Street). Music, books, artwork, crafts, antiques, Amish furniture, 7 or 8 eateries, etc. I suggest visiting the Firelands Historical Society Research Library and Museum at the western most edge of Uptown, and then take the walking tour of the Historic West Main Street District (on the National Register of Historic Places). One could also utilize the walking trails at Veteran's Memorial Lake Park, Hogan's Hill, or a portion of the North Coast Inland Trail (from North West Street to Monroeville) As mentioned above, one can also visit Norwalk Raceway Park, which sometimes draws crowds of 40,000 for one event. Another fun spot is Valley Beach swim park, as well as Eagle Creek or Sycamore Hills golf clubs. Milan (Erie County): less than one mile north of Norwalk, the big claim to fame is the Birthplace Home of Thomas Edison (the lightbulb guy) and the Milan Historical Society Museums. Another interesting fact about Milan is that every single building on the town square is occupied with a business. Wellington (Lorain County): Downtown is very attractive Lodi (Medina County): Great little town if you love the Amish, peace, tranquility, and hills Marblehead (Ottawa County): the Chautauqua on the Lake :) Medina (Medina County): the Town Square is a rarity, the community band is nice as well Rock Creek (Ashtabula County): not necessarily in the town, but Camp Beaumont is a favorite of mine Ashland (Ashland County): the homes along Sandusky Street (Route 96) are interesting Findlay (Hancock County): as someone mentioned, downtown is vibrant Tiffin (Seneca County): downtown and the universities have some nice buildings and architecture Others worth mentioning: Monroeville (Huron County), Lagrange (Lorain County), and Walnut Creek (Holmes County)
  15. Fantastic! I always see this cemetery from the car, but have never got out and walked around. I always thought this was a creepy place, but now I know better!
  16. The counties of Crawford, Huron, and Ottawa are unfortunately the top contenders for the county with the highest unemployment rate in northern Ohio, year after year after year.
  17. Ah....what a hectic world we live in.......
  18. Thank you sir!
  19. I have a question. What are the "Five Rivers"? ? ? I can get three: Great Miami River Little Miami River Mad River :? :? :?

I know......it's a very pleasant setting........it actually helps to clear the mind :) You can't quite go whitewater rafting LOL 'cause the river is only about shin-deep in the rapids; but it can get waist-deep in the tranquil areas.......prime for canoeing and kayaking. Heck, I think the river is navigable from US 20 in Monroeville all the way to the lake! But be weary when it floods; it becomes quite the raging torrent. We've lost three picnic tables since '98 :)

I just got off the phone with my sister. She said a few hours ago a thunderstorm rolled through the Norwalk area with lots of rain, lightning, wind, and pea-sized hail! Unfortunately, the Weather Channel just said there were 10 confirmed fatalities in Tennessee today from this same storm system. And Louisville is getting hit pretty hard as well. Be safe, everyone.
