  2. Voters OK TU’s Miami Street project By Melissa Topey, [email protected] POSTED: November 5, 2008 TIFFIN - The Miami Street beautification project is moving ahead, with the referendum passing unofficially 4,597 to 3,314. Final unofficial totals show 58 percent of voters agreed with city council's decision approving the estimated $800,000 project that is expected to widen a portion of Miami Street, install a tree-lined median, and turn Jackson Street into a cul-de-sac, areas that run through Tiffin University. "I'm pleased to hear that. I think this indicates the majority of citizens appreciate the positive contribution that Tiffin University makes to the economy and the quality of life to Seneca County and Tiffin," said Paul Marion, president of TU. It was that portion of the project that roused the Monaco family to start a campaign against the changes to Jackson Street. Buildings on the street between Miami and Clay streets are owned by TU except the single home on Jackson owned by Dora Monaco. What’s up with Ashford Park? ‘Green’ condo development behind Sandusky Mall ‘slowly but surely’ making progress, Cafaro says; 63 units pre-sold By SUSAN MCMILLAN http://www.sanduskyregister.com/articles/2008/11/16/front/980083.txt PERKINS TWP - A New Albany company plans a grand residential and commercial development behind Sandusky Mall, but it appears the project has hit some snags. Centurion Communities Inc. obtained a zoning change in September 2007 to build Ashford Park, 91.5 acres of luxury condos and retail space along Sandusky Mall Boulevard. In May, Centurion CEO Ryan Goldberg said the project would break ground at the end of the summer, but Perkins zoning inspector Jim Lamb said the township hasn’t seen the final development plan, which must be approved before work can start. “I haven’t talked to anyone since the zoning process was completed,” Lamb said. Goldberg did not return calls last week.

I didn't mean to be so inactive on this topic and the UO forum, but I have had some personal issues/etc. that didn't allow me much leisure time :-( Anyway, hopefully now I can resume posting and moderating :-) Thanks again!
  22. I agree that public greenspace (the "reading garden" in this case) is good; but not at the expense of that old house :( I would think the Sandusky Library/Museum Foundation would want to preserve history rather than tear it down; but what do I know.....

The house appeared to have been in great condition, too :whip: Before After :-(
  24. Beautiful sunset shots! ......and that flooding was pretty severe! I was driving back to DeKalb, Illinois from Ohio on that Monday night and I-80/94 (Borman Expressway) in Indiana was completely closed due to the flooding of the Calumet River (it remained closed for almost that entire week). The detour route was the Chicago Skyway/Dan Ryan/Ike Expwy.........the view of downtown at night was spectacular! I might take that route more often :D
  25. Great photos rob!!!!!
