  9. My unit got pushed back another month, to April 15th now. It still has to do with construction on the first floor. The lobby, elevators, etc. I took a tour today and forgot to take pictures of the first couple of floors, which is the retail and communal space. There's not a ton to see anyway. Just lots of construction going on. Nothing is finished down there. I did take a few quick picks of the units which I will post in a second.
  10. In my opinion, the weather is very minor disadvantage for the organization. By and large, money is what matters most to free agents. There are exceptions, like everything else. I do not believe the Browns pay much of a premium for free agents. And I don't believe a dome will move the needle in attracting free agents. The Browns dysfunction has been the result of management, not weather. The Steelers haven't had a losing season in forever. They have very similar weather with an open air stadium and it's a similar town. They've simply been managed better. I also don't believe the Browns 8-1 record vs 3-5 on the road had anything to do with weather. We just happened to face much better QB's on the road this season. That being said, I selfishly want a dome if I could just snap my fingers and make it free. I also want the new stadium downtown. I'm not certain it's conclusive, but from what I understand, study after study show that downtown stadium deals are not worth the cost. So if I put my selfish "what do I want" hat on, I say tax the crap out of everyone so I can have the domed stadium downtown that I want. But if I am looking at what the right thing to do is, I admit it's not worth the cost, especially if it means that people who are struggling may have to contribute towards it.
  11. I think mine was October as well. I just don't remember. I have the same March 15th postponement. This time the postponement was only for two weeks as my previous move in date was March 1st. They continue to say the postponement is not about the apartments, but about "items on the 1st floor". Getting real close!
  12. If they could add exactly 50 feet to the tower it would give Cleveland the 3 tallest in the state and 4 of the top 5. How cool would that be? While they're at it, maybe Sherwin could add 8 feet to the BP Tower and Cleveland would have the top 4. 😁
  13. Thanks guys. In my case it's not a problem, but I can see where someone would be scrambling and would be furious. If people had moved in and decided they were going to push back when they were going to start paying rent month after month I'm sure City Club would be upset. The leasing agent is very polite. Poor guy. He has to make all these calls informing people YET AGAIN their lease is pushed back. Honestly at this point it feels like an elaborate practical joke. No one will ever actually move in and this building was made as a giant prank. I joke. **hopefully**
  14. First residents are now slated to move in March 1st. The leasing agent said the rooms are coming along nicely. Says the problem has to do with constructing the front and lobby areas.
  15. Is the free rent in response to the delay? I thought any newly signed lease gets one month free. Not sure though. Sent from my SM-G991W using Tapatalk
  16. Got a call from the leasing manager last night that the move in date for first residents is delayed another month to late January. My date had been December 29th.
  17. I think KJP's point is that it's not typical to just build a high rise and then hope that causes economic dynamism. It's that when the economy is dynamic enough, the proper market conditions exist, and supply and demand call for it, do high rises get constructed. With the Landmark and Centennial buildings still vacant, the supply is high, so the demand for new space is less and a new high rise is less likely until the supply shrinks. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't take KJP as expressing a preference. More like he was explaining the economic reality of the situation. I want new high rises as much as anyone, but I think it makes total sense to fill up the Landmarks and Centennial buildings first. I'm hoping the Justice Center goes to the Centennial building, as it might remain vacant for some time if not.
  18. Betts is an excellent choice. Very chef driven. If you prefer simple, greasy spoon diner, I recommend Addy's. It's often busy, so give yourself some time to get your name in.
  19. My move in date was moved from November 1 to December 1. But then i chose to switch units so I'm scheduled for December 30 now. They also said the ground and second floor restaurants and retail are still set for early November opening. The rooftop pool (not open to the public) is slated for early June opening. Once I'm moved in I'll see about having an UrbanOhio meetup there in the summer.
  20. Agreed. The food was excellent. Definitely quality over quantity at Sushi 86, but that's not to say the portions are tiny. Everything in general is more expensive these days. I will be going out of my way to go back there.
  21. You just missed me! I'm in there right now and it is indeed really swanky. Excellent food as well.
  22. These are really cool links. This type of stuff always fascinates me. Thanks for posting them.
  23. [emoji817]. St. Malachi should not have a say in the scale of the Bridgeworks project. Perhaps if they didn't, and Bridgeworks could build much larger, there would be no need for public subsidies at all, and we would be under construction. This is sort of what I was getting at. One public subsidy (Malachi's) breeds another public subsidy (Bridgeworks), and the result is a much smaller project than may have otherwise been built. The original design would have been so cool to see. Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk
  24. I apologize. I didn't mean to imply Bridgeworks' literal neighbors. I was making a more broad point about special interests and potential for abuse. Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk
  25. In my opinion, government loans are handouts, particularly when they're given to a developer, when their neighbor does not or did not get such assistance. There will always be a demand for housing, but in my opinion, if that demand hasn't been met by the private sector, I don't necessarily see that as the private sector having "failed", therefore government loans. To me, it means the private sector saw better value investing elsewhere, considering the current environment. I think it's fair to ask where this government loan could otherwise be. I really am excited about this project, however.@KJP, I look forward to your reporting on this eventually getting built! Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk
