Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
Haha! I'm certain guests of residents are welcomed. If I can't bring friends up there I'm breaking my lease. A UO happy hour up there would be great! I would be happy to get permission.

I'm also moving in and I'm certain that the rooftop bar is not open to the public. It is for residents only and will be open all week, but on the weekends the rooftop bar will be "staffed". I'm really sorry to be the bearer of bad news. It would have been cool to be open to the public. Every other bar/restaurant/coffee shop in the building will be open to the public.

He really is a nice man. I've exchanged pleasantries with him for 15 years. Highly recommend supporting him. That type of person hawking hot dogs on street really contributes to what I love about cities. Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk

I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure Pura Vida is no more. There is a menu in the window but I've walked by it during lunch and dinner hours recently and it hasn't been open, both on weekdays and weekends.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I went into Parlay for a drink on Opening Day. It's a beautiful space and the owner was very friendly, but I could not agree more on the windows and signage. It's in a super high visibility corner, yet did not look open. If that space had garage style doors that opened up, I think the place would do very well. Let's just hope the next owner makes the changes needed for it to succeed. Edda, the coffee shop at Intro has those tinted windows which make it hard to look in, but they have the style of garage doors and boy does it make a world of a difference for street presence.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I might be the only one it seems, but I love the idea of The Astro. We already have tons of classy restaurants in Cleveland. I like variety and I think this could be fun. Also, the same people run The Haunted House Restaurant in Cleveland Heights, and while I haven't been there, I would really like to and I think it's been a big success and looks really fun to me.

Pretty sure downtown recently had a jazz bar in the current Filter space in the Warehouse district. I really enjoyed it. Not sure why it closed.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
With all of the questions as to whether or not stadium subsidies work as intended, I think it's unfortunate that people tend not to think of whether it's appropriate to take money from taxpayers who may be struggling to make ends meet and funnel it to sports teams so that bars and restaurants nearby perform better than they otherwise would. This is coming from a huge sports fan who loves downtown and directly benefits from those bars and restaurants doing well.

The lowest priced unit in the building is a 3rd floor South facing unit for $1,250. Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk

Forgot to mention, they didn't have square footage on the units, which I thought was odd, but they estimated the one I was looking at, at 450 square feet, with a price tag between $1,300-$1,400. Possibly highest dollars to square foot in town. Maybe Intro or Lumen is higher? Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk

I went to the leasing office for a tour and some info. There will be some very small units in the building with the option of having a Murphy bed. I'm looking at one on the 7th floor which is supposed to be ready by early November. They said no promises though. They are also giving $100 off rent per month until the rooftop area is completed, as of course it will not be completed by the time new residents move in. I did not ask when they expect the very first residents to be in.

I get what you're saying in "capitalism at its worst", but what you're talking about is cronyism, not capitalism. I think that's an enormously important distinction. Other than that, I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment.

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
I agree that I would like to have something different from a bar or restaurant, but I guess the market is going to determine people want/need and what will and won't succeed. If it is a bar/restaurant, hoping it's something different and better than what's in the area, so that if we have indeed reached a saturation point for restaurants, we have an upgrade. Then whatever current bar/restaurant doesn't make it, turns into some sort of other downtown amenity. Basically I don't really care what it becomes so long as it improves downtown. I wish I had a great idea of what would be a can't miss profitable business in that spot that's not a bar/restaurant. There's all sorts of things I want, but would they be profitable?

Boy, if that timeline holds true with City Club, it seems like there won't be move ins until the fall.

I'm on the list to receive information about leasing and haven't heard a word. I'd love it if there were residents by June. How long do you guys think it might be from the time they release floor plans and leasing info until they have move ins?

Cleveland: Downtown: Ohio Savings Plaza Redevelopment
I very much agree with the sentiment of wanting businesses to stay downtown, but please no more subsidies. No more corporate welfare. And with the way the world is changing in regard to remote work, maybe the next best alternative is residential where there used to be office space. Perhaps this is the way Cleveland adapts. Hopefully, in time, there will be a trend back to the office and at that point office rental rates will be high enough to justify more Class A office construction.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
Why in the world would the port authority not have bought this property right away, when they knew they needed it? Couldn't they have averted this whole mess? The George's are definitely being sleazy, but the port authority bears part of the blame in my opinion for not having some foresight.
