  1. On a related note to how often this is used - OIC is there a competing center in the burbs that takes business out of the center city. A problem in the region that gets glossed over time after time again (in places other than Urban Ohio.) Chicago might have Rosemont, Schaumburg and Orland Park convention centers but McCormick Place certainly has enough business to thrive regardless.
  2. Looks good and I’m glad they repurposed the building. I guess that was the lesser of all evils for a failed concept like the Med Mart.
  3. On a semi-related side note how are ticket sales for this weekend’s Crew match going?
  4. Also I had a feeling this would happen…not as many jobs lost and at least MKE residents can still drive to Deerfield if they have/want to …it’s a little over an hour. https://www.wisn.com/article/master-lock-oak-creek-headquarters-to-close/63533835 What’s worse is this news related to the Fortune ownership. https://www.wisn.com/article/milwaukee-mayor-master-lock-plant-closure-slap-face/44008463
  5. I live one town over from Deerfield so selfishly happy to see more tenants in the building. Amgen keeping some of the employees there after buying Horizon. When Takeda moved from that building to Boston it was a major blow. Ironically Fortune was HQ’d in same building complex (in Deerfield) that Caterpillar was after they unceremoniously moved there from Peoria. The moral of the story is that companies have zero loyalty these days. Also Discover, Baxter and Walgreens are all HQ’d in same neighborhood. And not sure of Discover status there since they were bought by Capital One.
  6. As silly as that building looks it’s kinda like how the Terminal Tower probably looked after it was completed in 1927…a giant tower in the middle of not much else.
  7. On a side note…I can’t believe KC can’t use their existing MLS stadium for NWSL. Looks nice though.
  8. Never heard of the CLE location either. Too bad. The craft brewing market is super saturated. Not sure how many of them survive. Kind of reminds me of Southern Tier’s CLE outpost. A great brewery but how is that tap room doing?
  9. I’d like to think CLE actually was first to the market with this concept. Richfield Coliseum lasted from 1974-1994.
  10. Start a go fund me…maybe people from around the world would chip in…but its a tall order nonetheless
  11. One of my pet peeves is how CLE can continually miss out on big stadium concerts summer after summer. For example, Taylor Swift is going to Pittsburgh, Detroit and even Cincinnati. Not sure why CLE left off this list. Seems to happen every year that PIT and DET get the shows instead of CLE. I understand that DET is a bigger market. However CIN and PIT are smaller (market size speaking). Tired of the stupid “routing” excuse too. That never seemed to be a problem in the 70’s and 80’s. Anyone here with legit insight on this problem?
  12. Good pic. One of my least favorite angles of the skyline tho…would definitely benefit if the Bedrock towers come into play along with a finished SW tower.
  13. Silly article but if you haven’t driven by there lately (I have) there’s no way in hell that they will abandon this site. Lots done already.
  14. I heard they were moving to ATL.
  15. Agreed…how could anyone argue that a third lane would be bad? As someone who has made the drive from CBus to Cle a million times over the last 30 years it’s night and day with the third lane.
  16. Yep. Ask members of the old CLE Athletic Club how important it was to own their building. They didn’t…and now that building is apartments and not the CAC.
  17. Magnificent. Reminds me of the one in Detroit as well. Too bad Buffalo doesn’t have a Ford or GM to pump the renovation dollars into it that it deserves. Agree with it being in a bad location too…not a bad neighborhood but just not central enough.
  18. All good stuff but I miss the days (2006) when the visionary Wolsteins (RIP) were talking to Garber about CLE in the actual MLS. Would’ve been in Macedonia but the Rossetti-designed stadium was ahead of its time. And let’s face it…the location between CLE and Akron/Canton seemed to work for a certain arena back in the day. MLS was all over the idea until the state of OH refused to contribute funds and IIRC Summit County was also lukewarm to the commitment. Not a big fan of spending a bunch of money on a new stadium for MLS Next - or whatever its called - but would be nice to get a women's franchise…Could also boost the profile of CSU soccer perhaps.
  19. Yes! I thought I remembered CSU playing at Public Hall and it being on TV in the mid 80’s. Thanks for confirming that.
  20. I count seven stories already? 😁
  21. Thanks for the update…not to take this thread too far off topic but does the Hudson’s Site have a webcam? I can’t find one!
  22. The Lumen shows up nicely in this screen shot from todays TV coverage…(first time posting a screen shot here)
  23. Agree… this design actually is really cool.
  24. Since I’m not a paying customer of Crain’s anymore how long is the lease supposed to run?
