Cleveland: Little Italy: Development and News
Loving the progress in this very vibrant neighborhood. Boy the aluminum siding salesmen must have had a field day in the 1950’s or whenever they did their thing. Soooo many cool frame houses with that beautiful wood siding covered up by that stuff.

Cleveland: I-X Center
That is a great question…I vividly remember the first time the Auto Show was poached…I want to say it was in 1986. As a car fan I was appreciative of the layout of the IX Center but the area around it was (and still might be) boring and desolate. The auto show downtown was really an event. Seemed less so at the IX Center. I also remember Outdoor Shows and Home and Garden Shows in the city…and those were obviously poached. Most of the truck stuff seemed to go to the Coliseum back in the day.

Cleveland: I-X Center
Yeah its bad news for downtown. I’m old enough to remember the auto shows being at the old convention center - and the excitement that it brought to the city was really cool…another reason for south suburban kids like me and my friends to head downtown. Can’t think of another city (in Midwest at least) where the downtown center has its main competition from a bigger convention center in that same metro’s suburbs like in NEO.

Mansfield / Richland County: Development and News
Very cool…! I always liked Mansfield…always thought the city center had good bones and the fact that it was between CLE and Columbus made it a cool location….the only place in the state where you could see teams from all 4 major sports leagues within an hour’s drive….and the topography is amazing. For those of us who still like to drive our manual transmission sports cars on country roads the hills and twists are great…not to mention Mid-OH being a few minutes away. Great news for the area!

Canton: Pro Football Hall of Fame Village
Totally agree. I haven’t listened to cle sports radio in a while as I live in Chicago and mostly listen to Sirius - but I know a few years back 92.3 hardly acknowledged it. In the meantime Rizzo and Hammer actually did some remotes from there but not sure if they still do or not.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
Meanwhile this team is finally starting to falter…so much for the reload it officially will be a rebuild. And frankly I don’t expect the brain trust that is in place to accomplish much of anything. For a mid-market team you need to rely on drafting and scouting. And this team has never been very good at it, especially for position players. A few good trades here and there have helped keep the momentum going for a few years, and aside from an unfortunate fade in the 2016 WS there really haven’t been too many successful playoff series. Sooo….it will be back to the drawing board for these guys. And I hate to say that, as they are my favorite CLE team.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
Interesting video not necessarily charmed with the ‘talent’ that this guy recruited to review the city but whatever. The video footage is pretty good and seems fairly recent as the Lumen and Beacon on display. Great footage of a freighter/ore boat on the river. Not very well researched - but I hate to admit the grouchy reviewer (that wants to leave) made a couple of good points…one being is that CLE should be one of the premier cities between NYC and CHI based on the medical and cultural institutions. Agreed that the lack of footage around UC is pretty indicative of how lazy ‘journalism’ has become in this age of YouTube. Also what on earth was that one guy saying when he mentioned CBus being more expensive? Aren’t the two cities basically the same for cost?

Have to admit that parody video made me LOL a few times…

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
It’s an ‘OK’ nickname but this much I know - Cleveland Guardians sounds a lot better than the Charlotte, Portland or Las Vegas Guardians. Hope that stadium lease gets figured out sooner rather than later. And no, the Dolans won’t move the team - but apparently since there are no other local CLE-based families with enough money to buy a CLE franchise these days (see the Haslams and Gilberts as an example) some out of town owner would have no problem starting somewhere else.

Agreed…I think the publicity/exposure of having a manageable size retail operation on PS would be a great idea.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Not sure if it’s too late because supposedly a lot of people/operations from Minneapolis have moved to Cleveland but if I were the Twin Cities you can be damn sure I’d be going after SW.

Yeah that’s disheartening (but not surprising) to hear and as much as I loathe the new site plan for NuCLEUs this news stinks. nice reporting as usual KJP

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
Agreed with the big connection to Gilbert to lure national retail to these locations...probably different scenario compared to JHB unfortunately. also Huge Kudos to Gilbert and Detroit for the amazing makeover but with that level of pedestrian traffic I can’t imagine that particular Lululemon staying afloat for very long. Maybe once the Hudson site gets going...

Honestly hate everything about this project starting with the initial overblown fanfare and then especially the shift from potentially skyline-changing building to the suburban apartment tower crapola that it’s sadly morphed into. If you can’t afford it then Pull the effing plug already.
