Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
This sounds very cool, although if I were a business owner trying to sell food, I would never choose blue for the interior of my restaurant. The color blue has been proven to decrease your appetite. That's why most restaurants decorate in warm tones, which actually stimulate the appetite, and you tend to order more. That being said, I might go there knowing I'd be less likely to overindulge. :)

Help the pope find an apartment!
Pope needs to live somewhere within stumbling distance of GLBC so UOers have someplace to crash after monthly meets. :drunk:

Lakewood: Development and News
OompaLoompa replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Northeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI stopped by the site of the Cliffs project last weekend, just getting a chance to post the photos. Since I've never visited the site before, I don't know if it's been sitting like this for some time, or if they are getting started.

Cleveland - next UrbanOhio forum meet will be....
Hmm... I was thinking about stopping by, but I might have to doll myself up to hang with you boys, it sounds like I'll be the only girl and still not the prettiest one in the group...

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
I snapped some pics of this place going in really close to Battery Park, looks to be a restaurant/bar of some kind, very cool looking. Is this the old Snickers? (Sorry for the blurriness, I guess I wasn't standing quite still...)

she's moving back to the clev over a donut
I live in Lakewood and I don't even know where the dog park is...I don't have a dog, I'm just curious that I've never come upon it before.

Hey Jamie, When I moved back up here, I hardly knew anyone either and I ended up going to some New In Town meetups, and met a bunch of people who have ended up being my closest friends. The group has changed leadership since I was in it so I can't really vouch for what it's like these days because I haven't been involved in it for a long time, but most of the members seem to be in their 20s and even if you don't click with that group, there are a bunch of other groups based on various interests such as dining out, wine tasting, games, movies, whatever. The New In Town meetup is located at: http://newintown.meetup.com/67/ Good luck!

Show a pic of yourself!
Okay, as long as we're sharing drag costumes.... Made this myself. And yes, I am female, so that makes this drag, since Marvin is a boy alien. Didn't come in first place in the costume contest though. That went to a guy dressed as a giant penis. (Complete with silly string that approximated his "excitement" at winning... :-o )

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Has Truffles gone out of business? When I passed by last night, the place was totally closed up and it wasn't even 9:00 pm yet, they are usually open until at least 10:00 aren't they? There was a white paper on the door that simply said "Closed".

What field are you in?
Administrative assistant by day...entertainer by night (singing, acting, etc.) I chose Arts & Culture since I make most of my income with the performing.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I noticed Sean's Place (previously Metro Joe's) and the ice cream shop next to it in the Edgewater neighborhood on Clifton have both closed. Hope something goes in there soon. It seems like it would be a good location, not sure why nothing seems to last there...

The Price is Right
He'll probably do fine as long as he continues to enjoy it and wants to do it. Who was the guy who came in and replaced whatshisname on Family Feud who was known for always kissing the ladies? Nobody ever thought he could be replaced either, but I think that show is still on and doing fine. They should tap Carey to do some commercials marketing Cleveland. "Cleveland has it all...world class cultural attractions like the Cleveland Orchestra and Playhouse Square, outstanding parks, beaches and outdoor recreation, nightlife, sporting events, and with an amazingly affordable cost of living.... the price is right!"

Cleveland: Hot Summer Day Downtown
I don't understand how this plaza/urban forest is supposed to work... it looks like they have laid down a concrete-type solid base over the entire thing. Are they planning to plant the trees on top of it? Trees need to be able to root pretty deep, it just doesn't make any sense to me unless that is an existing concrete pad that they have yet to excavate...

Used bikes in Cleveland?
Anyone know where I can buy a decent cheap bike? I stopped by Century Cycles in Rocky River today, which has very cool bikes, but I don't plan to be a serious cyclist and everything there was quite expensive, I'd just like something servicable for pleasure riding during the nice weather. (And of course to be able to explore my surrounding neighborhoods more extensively than I can on foot. :-D )

Cleveland: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
I'm not sure where you got this info. First of all, July 7 is a Saturday, besides which according to the Cleveland Orchestra website, the concert is Thursday night, July 5th.

Cleveland: Intramural Soccer Leagues
If you like to play volleyball but can't commit to a team, I have a friend who plays out at Huntington Park in Bay Village (I think that's the right name, it's near Huntington Beach), they have pickup games at the volleyball courts pretty much every night in warm weather, you can just show up and jump in, it's very casual, the teams sort of reorganize from game to game based on who wants to play.

From the Plain Dealer: Interns start design contest to spark ideas Friday, June 08, 2007 Steven Litt Plain Dealer Architecture Critic Irishtown Bend, once a teeming community of 19th-century Irish immigrant laborers, is now a sodden mass of brush and buried architectural ruins sliding downhill toward the Cuyahoga River opposite downtown Cleveland.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
I've been told that the plan to close E. 4th to traffic and turn it into pedestrian only with outdoor dining is set to finally happen this week. We'll see. There have been so many delays to making this happen, I really hope it finally does, it will be a very cool festive atmosphere down there, even more so than it is already...

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
They managed to get all the water drained out of Pickwick and we actually went on with everything as planned last night. I was amazed. Aside from a slight dampness in the air, I would never have known anything had happened in there.
