  1. CLE metro lost under 1,000 while Akron metro (3 counties) lost less than 100. Not huge losses of course, hopefully there's + population growth in the near future.
  2. It is hard to tell where that Amazon supertall is. The contrast graphics not the best in the rendering. When terdolph said it's not on the jacobs lot, I thought 'oh yeah it's not''... Looking again, it looks like it is on the Jacobs lot as you can almost detect a w 3 border there a bit. There's no way that supertall Amazon building is directly adjacent east of those other towers and all being on the superblock-WHD lots. Regardless, a SW supertall is needed on the Jacobs lot. Where would parking go for any building let alone a very large and supertall building on PS?
  3. The original AmeriTrust Center called for a parking garage on the southeast quadrant of the superblock (W 3 between Superior & Frankfort) with a hotel ballroom on top of it; there was supposed to be either a Hyatt or Hilton hotel as part of the mixed-use tower. So yes, if a SW tower went up on PS, then there would have to be a parking garage somewhere.
  4. ...and it's on the Jacobs lot.
  5. We've been waiting for at least 30 years for what could be there. A tower on the Jacobs lot will or should spur development in the WHD. Maybe a nice mixed-use project like the one proposed by Weston a few years ago.
  6. Kelly needs to up this sentiment to ''will work with the company'' and ''the city will keep SW in Cleveland''. Not this ''we'll try''...c'mon. Grow a pair Kelly.
  7. Put a super tall on the jacobs lot, use some of the WHD parking lots for whatever, if needed, leave the W St Clair section open for housing. A 900'+ tower on the Public Square lot alone will change the dynamic of the entire WHD neighborhood. Hasn't there been talk about a boutique style coming in somewhere along this part of St Clair?
  8. Huh? The Terminal Tower is being dominated by super talls? I hope it's taller than Key Tower.
  9. Yes, very much so...lol. If it ends up as a downtown tower, preferably on PSquare, then it will be worth watching this headquarters paint dry.
  10. Hope so...let's hope we avoid a Beacon start time line.
  11. of course it does, it was a joke (hence the smiley face)...but, it's out there again that SW is looking for a new headquarters. We've been reminded of this headquarters search since the late '80s, then in about 2016 the new headquarters announcement that didn't happen, so we're back in suspense mode again in 2019. The real issue is downtown or suburbs. Hoping its downtown on the Square with a large skyscraper presence, yet this being Cleveland, it could still go to the 'burbs. It's on the table, not off the table. Given the momentum of 2019 downtown Cleveland, one would expect any SW headquarters building to be downtown. But the suburbs still call...
  12. True, but it's still ''no comment''... ?

Yikes, taking a look at that autonomous buggy...no thanks. It's especially nerve wracking and in human nature when that new tech can literally cost you your life.
  14. I remember wanting a rapid station stop along below Ontario rail-bed when Gateway was announced and moving forward, with a tunnel to a portal at say E 4/Huron. Isn't there already a subway tunnel there? Especially now as the neighborhood booms and has moved to include nuCLEus and East 4th. At least something announcing the existence of a rail system would be in place for direct street access.
  15. Well, the somewhat good news is that CLE went from ''will we see dividends from the 2016 RNC'' to a space squeeze in 2019; now the solution, the quicker the better. I would think going over the tracks is the only solution (I can't read the article) but I know there's a parking squeeze here as well. I bet the parking issue relates to locals and regional folks driving into downtown for a meeting or convention etc. The out of towners using the airport and staying downtown most likely aren't driving. I would think RTA needs to promote itself as an option for locals to use the rapid generally. Of course promoting the airport red line generally is always a good thing. A nice access portal from the newly designed Public Square would have been nice but the real problem with the Red Line is its one-stop, out of the way downtown station....and having unmarked access isn't helping even this limited service. Connecting to the WFL for the convention center would be limited to a huge convention akin other big downtown events: browns game, air show, couple-to-few flats fests etc. Then again, people just don't think of using transit as much as they used to, mostly because they don't need to.
  16. Not at all, but I think some others did...lol.
  17. I didn't bring up his upbringing...but it's not irrelevant. The whole tone of the headline and, as Allard said, the ''exaspirating name nuCLEus'' says it all. It doesn't sound like anyone is in for an unbiased journalism story. Regardless, Allard uses the usual and cliche general and ''abstract'' speculation points. As Stark said, ''we're not Dubai''...we weren't in 1988 either when Society Center was proposed. Btw, aren't we all glad that controversial project went forward?
  18. Wasn't directly questioning you. Different era of working class Ohio City then.
  19. Well, Allard wrote a hit piece on nuCLEus which was brought into this thread and with Cleveland's history of negativity and decline, I think it's all quite relevant to know and expose this guy as he crusades against nuCLEus. Reminder that nuCLEus Allard should be psychoanalyzed as he's a hypocrite trying to continue playing race and class games, all a part of Cleveland's decline cocktail.
  20. What was his upbringing? Allard looks to be all of about 30 and he's a native Ohio City resident, grew up there, and ended up with a degree from Northwestern? From what I can see, this guy, if he actually grew up in Ohio City, was part of the ''cool'' scene. I was born in Ohio City and can tell you, Allard's not the average native Ohio City folk from ''before it was cool'' Ohio City. Allard is a wanna be muckraker, a Cleveland tradition that includes class (''rich people'' by CLE standards) and race. Allard just doesn't come across as a product of working class Ohio City, especially ''before it was cool''. Can't see this guy legitimately objecting to people with degrees from Northwestern moving into Ohio City.
  21. Still can't believe there's a Hilton brand hotel on Euclid Avenue in the E 60s. Amazing.
  22. Also, sitting here in 2019 with Cleveland, Cleveland Hts and the region with stagnant to decline growth for x # of decades now, these plans from the past may have worked, who knows? But seeing today’s continued decline and saying past plans that weren’t implemented would have been a disaster is misplaced. now if Cleveland and the region had continued its up to mid 20th century growththen, yes, of course we could look back at these plans in 2019 and say they would have been a disaster and derailed the areas growth if they had been implemented.
  23. I wouldn’t describe the west blvd rapid station being surrounded by a sea of parking, at least due to the station’s existence. There’s minimal parking at this station and the platform itself is below grade and was part of the original Red Line that for the most part doesn’t have a lot of parking, if any at all. Even the end of the original line at w 117th doesn’t have a sea of parking.
  24. Thanks! Looks like all these options are as lousy as the E34-Campus location. I recall RTA wanting to eliminate this station all together, not relocate it. Instead it rebuilt the same location. Anyone know now why RTA didn’t stick to its plan to close this station altogether? It’s especially relevant given today’s Frequency or Coverage dilemma being debated now. The WFL should loop up either E 9th, with a west side extension via superior-Detroit, or E 17, with the same west side extension, and of course keeping the loop along the lakefront and flats as it is now. i don’t see the need for an east side extension along the lake to bratenahl and Euclid though.
  25. Where was the proposed relocation of the 34/Campus going to be?
