Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
To be fair the streetcar wire is quite a bit more dangerous than those other wires.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Ziegler Park Renovation
I'm glad they are doing this work now, before the Cutter Playground renovation gets underway. Always interesting to hear about how old some of our utilities are. The gas pipe being replaced is 120+ years old! Is Duke Energy trying to get those paying for the park renovation to pay for the gas line replacement? /snark

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Has all the negative press on these Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill closures around the country had any person impact on Toby Keith the country singer? I'd assume all this shadiness would reflect poorly on him.

Owning Rental Property in Ohio's Cities
Cincinnati Related: Could anyone recommend a realtor in Cincinnati that does work finding, vetting and drawing up legal contracts for getting a renter for a property? In the past we went with a company that did a lousy, lousy job and charged us $3000 for the their efforts. We started trying to do the work on our own, but we've found it is a bit of a pain finding serious potential renters via Craigslist and Zillow/Trulia. Specifically, we're trying to find a company experienced in finding renters for an Over-the-Rhine apartment.

Cincinnati: Historic Preservation
My wife and I live in a renovated late 1800s townehome in OTR that is having some roof leaking issues near the two rooftop hatches. Could anyone recommend a roofer that handles repair work for flat-top historic buildings?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Feel free to talk with the police officers around the community what they think of the 1132 [crack] Bar. Better yet, mention to them that the police must support the bar due to the annual event that is being held there. You'll get some very frustrated and sometimes even angry responses. Trust me, myself and others brought up this event with the police quite a lot. The police (minus a small group) are not happy at all with that bar.
-
Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
The owner of the 1132 [crack] Bar is not a former police officer. The FOP event that occurs at that bar is actually something that most officers (especially the higher up ones) are actually quite embarrassed about.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
The 1132 [crack] Bar is at least temporarily closed, but the owner's son may be in the works to reopen it (maybe as something else?). I just don't believe the corner of 12th and Race will ever fully recover from the decades of crime that's plagued it until this irresponsible owner sells out.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I was excited to see that the owner of the 1132 [crack] Bar at 1132 Race has received a fine of $750 for not maintaining his adjacent property 1130 Race. I'm hoping that he'll come to the realization that he cannot repair the decades of neglect of his properties on his own and sells out to someone who actually gives a damn about the community.

Cincinnati: Parks Levy
It should be noted for residential tax abatements they are capped at around $250K. This means that even tax abated properties still have to pay taxes on the property value over that $250K.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
Almost sounds like they have a better deal in the wings and were willing to let a foot dragging deal go to get it.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
It looks like the trees are staying on Race albeit quite a bit cut up. I don't have pictures, but I'll try to get some after work.
-
Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I guess they could be, but the trees are pretty much looking like poles right now. I doubt they'll be staying at this point, but I'll let you know as I get more updates on the ground.
-
Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
It looks like right now they're either severely cutting back or even possibly removing the trees on Race Street between Central Parkway and 12th. I'll give an update once I hear more from XUMelanie who's watching the work from our window.

Cincinnati: Parking Modernization
As an Information Technology professional I can tell you that when a solution requires too much explanation and does not give accurate feedback to the user it always, always, always ends up in failure. If this implementation is as bad as it sounds then we can expect a huge backlash.
-
Cincinnati: Parking Modernization
Wow, the pay by phone option sounds quite poorly designed. I don't know whether or not to be excited about this feature if the implementation is going to be this bad.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
What exactly would be the bearing of whether or not the officer was on OT? This is just another disgusting politicizing of a tragedy.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
3CDC got only about half of that $87 million. Cincinnati Development Fund got the other half. "Cincinnati Development Fund and Cincinnati New Markets Fund, the private equity fund operated by Cincinnati Center City Development Corp., were awarded $42.35 million and $45 million, respectively"

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Not only that, but the quality of the real estate venture he was involved in was truly awful. It is entirely incorrect to portray Cranley as successful in real estate.

Cincinnati Enquirer
The Enquirer is blocked here at work and I almost never go to their site in the evenings and weekends. The Business Courier has much more accurate, in-depth articles that are much less sensationalist than The Enquirer. Can anyone give me an example of some good reporting that came out of The Enquirer that couldn't be found elsewhere done better?

Cincinnati: Parking Modernization
To me the issue of needing cars in Cincinnati gets better with all the new developments, introduction of streetcar and bus improvements. However, Cincinnati still has a bit to go before people are able to get rid of their cars en masse. We've been able to go down to one car because I insisted on taking a job in Downtown/OTR which enables me to walk to work. However, that isn't a possibility for everyone as jobs have sprawled so much to areas without decent mass transit. Not only that, but services and businesses are just now returning to the basin. I can now go to the doctor Downtown which wasn't an option years ago. There are also some gaps in retail. For example, there wasn't a decent hardware store with good hours until recently when Acme Lock extended their business hours. I agree that there is something anti-urban about residential parking permits, but we must recognize how things currently are versus the urban ideal that may exist in the future.

Cincinnati Enquirer
I think very few people actually consider The Enquirer to be a legitimate news source for Cincinnati anymore. It's really just a sensationalist tabloid that gets a lot of purchases just because it has coupons and/or because it appeals to the National Enquirer crowd.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Bay Horse Cafe (625 Main Street)
Why would the OTR Community Council be notified of this liquor permit. Wouldn't it be the Downtown Residents Council?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I'm one of those people who'd like to stop there on way home, but I just end up going to the 7th and Vine Street location instead. I still question if he'd really get that much business to be worth keeping his doors open late, but maybe someday when Court Street gets a little love that will change.
