  1. As well as access to a denser number of rubes as well as things to steal.
  2. If they're litter bugs they'll fit right in with the neighborhood West Enders.
  3. Their first offer was a disgraceful lowball amount though, so yeah....
  4. Can we please limit this topic to "Over-the-Rhine: 3CDC Development and News" please for the love of God!
  5. Exactly. I don't know how to make this point without sounding facetious. To have to make an argument for the essentialness of economic growth is is like having to make an argument for the essentialness of food and water. How can some Cincinnatians have such delusional fantasies about how the world works that they think they can opt out of it and just decide to not have economic growth? What the heck are you even talking about?
  6. That's awesome! I would have loved to see that.

Rick and Morty. Hadn't even heard of it until a little while ago and now I'm on my second run of watching the series.
  8. Yeah I don't know anyone else from Westwood quite like Mary Kuhl. And thank the Lord for that!
  9. To be clear there may be a good amount of opposition at the West End and OTR Community Councils, but I've found long ago that these organizations don't really represent the true wants of those in the community. They tend to be hijacked by the Josh Springs of the world who whip up opposition by spreading lies and misrepresentations to those that are easily swayed. There is certainly a silent majority in the community that often disagrees with these people. The only way to know for sure how people feel about the stadium would be to poll members of the community directly.
  10. I miss the old recipe they used for the first few batches of OTR Ale. Not as big a fan of the newer stuff with the new recipe :(.
  11. I just really hate the loser mentality. Things are better everywhere else, everyone in Cincinnati is doing things wrong because they aren't doing what I want fast enough, life is too hard and you aren't doing enough to help me, blah, blah, blah. If someone sees a problem and doesn't want to be part of the solution, but instead just wants to whine endlessly, then I don't see them as a valuable contributor to the community. In that case it just makes sense for the individual to just move elsewhere where they'll be happier and leave it to others in the community to do the hard work they aren't willing to do. I saw it a lot when I was a board member of the Downtown Residents Council. So many people wanted our organization to do things, but didn't want to help out in any way. It was infuriating then and is so now.
  12. I think if those other cities appeal to you and if Cincinnati is so backwards in your eyes then you should just move. I think everyone would be happier.
  13. The family that owns the southeast corner property that was formerly a crack bar hates 3CDC and has been a negative force in the area for many, many years. I've got many stories, but suffice to say they are incredibly sleazy individuals who don't keep up their property and take advantage of the poor and mentally ill in the area. Don't expect anything there anytime soon.
  14. 12th/Race to nearly Vine Street is still very much an active open air drug market. I work with five different officers sending them video of drug dealing nearly daily. The problem is that Tender Mercies houses a lot of addicted individuals (some of whom are OK selling drugs as well in order to get paid in drugs). I'm in communication with the CEO of Tender Mercies, but he tells me there's not much that can be done due to HUD rules that favor housing over evicting drug addicts. The area has gotten somewhat better, but it's due to people like us constantly putting pressure on the dealers and occasionally getting assaulted and threatened with death. The crack bar at 12th/Race and the cell phone store used by dealers closed. There even appears to be more development on the northeast corner of 12th/Race, but I must say that development in the area isn't the panacea for safety that everyone thinks it is. It is going to take many, many years before OTR gets safer. I'm guess it will take at least a couple of decades for the area of Findlay Market to improve greatly. I have no idea how anyone could expect to sell $500K+ condos in that area right now.
  15. We're not in it for the gimmicks and don't mind paying taxes. We just could use the cash for better things and no longer want any additional hassles.
  16. Naw, we're done with our time as landlords. It's not that much work, but with two kids and other interests it gets to be just another thing to worry about.
  17. It looks like xumelanie[/member] and I will be putting our rental on the market for sale in a couple of months, so we won't be posting much more on this thread going forward. We will post our experiences selling and paying taxes on the property though in case others are also interested in the specifics.
  18. Do you think anyone is starting to realizing what a dumpster fire Cranley is?
  19. I hope soon. We've got a rental unit just across the intersection that we need new a new tenant for in the Summer. I'd be a nice selling point to see more than just a pit there.
  20. No streetcar service this morning. No idea why as there were no announcements made. My wife had to drive my daughter and I into daycare/work. What exactly are the selling points of the streetcar exactly? I'm losing a lot of faith over here.
  21. Furthermore, Lachey's noted they weren't getting enough of a lunch crowd. I had no idea they had lunch *shrug*.
  22. Streetcar was out of service this morning due to "inclement weather". Saw one of the cars disables on Walnut Street just south of Court Street. I thought that weather like this wouldn't really disable the whole system. Is the thin layer of ice that impossible to overcome?
  23. I'm just hoping this project helps kick off something to be developed at the long abandoned CMHA building at 16 W Central Parkway. It's only a block or so away and is a terrible blight right now.
  24. I just think that having a competitive race will naturally moderate Chabot at least a tiny bit. As it is right now he's about as Right Wing nut job as you can get. He's just incredibly disconnected from the majority of people he represents. Forcing him to get out into the community to solicit votes (which he hasn't had to do for so long) will get him out of his echo chamber and make him see how his actions affect people.
  25. Just because Aftab faces an uphill battle does not mean he shouldn't try. If anything, Aftab running will push Chabot into softening his staunch support of right wing conservatism.
