  1. Are they having seizures when they try to view it?
  2. We have social security. Cleveland is one of the poorest cities in America. I've done work in public housing for last decade. Never saw anyone dying in the streets. True, but Republicans are looking to cut Social Security and Medicare on top of ballooning the National Debt. Eventually, with the ever growing wealth gap it will mean the money will have to come from somewhere to support the increasingly large portion of Americans that are poor.
  3. I'm just saying that it'd be one thing if these "irresponsible" people were a small-ish portion of the population. When it's nearly 3/4 of all your citizens you have to ask yourself if it's the system itself that has to be fixed.
  4. Anecdotal evidence is fine for your family, but based on the actual statistics as shown in the link I provided your family is the exception and not the general rule.
  5. The problem with 401Ks in general is that the vast majority of Americans aren't using them to save enough for retirement. It's even shown that far too many cash them out switching between jobs. Check out the interactive chart here -> http://www.fourpillarfreedom.com/visualizing-the-net-worth-of-americans-by-age/ to see what I mean. The real issue will come when the 401K generations get to retirement age+ and cannot support themselves. At that point you either let them live & die on the streets, or you subsidize their housing, healthcare, food, etc.... All that subsidy is going to require money. Since our county is up to its eyeballs in debt (thanks Republicans) then the only way to pay for subsidies is taxing those that have saved.

The auditor ended up valuing our property at ~$300K when we paid $335k for it about four years ago. We're actually quite happy since we aren't moving anytime soon and this saves us on our taxes. We did our best to argue the value when homes just a few doors down have been selling for much more and our valuation was at least what we paid for it. I do feel a little bad that others will have to make up the tax difference, but we did what we could.
  7. Wow, that's a moronic list. Totally reaffirms my image of that rag.

Its intrinsic value is that it isn't regulated and tracked like fiat currency (yet.) It'll all come crashing down, eventually. So, the fact that it isn't regulated and tracked makes it have intrinsic value? I guess you have a point as criminal groups and rogue states would like that. However, for that reason I would think the value would be very volatile and subject to reputable countries treating it as "dirty" cash.

Gold at least has an intrinsic value in the use of it in industrial/product uses. Bitcoin has zero intrinsic value.
  10. Didn't Cranley's father own downtown real estate until very recently. Hard to believe he wasn't wealthy if he owned a multi-story building in the Central Business District.
  11. It sounds like they found issues that made them to unexpectedly fully close down the Children's Museum for a few months. It's a shame since that was such a good place to take the kids on those cold messy winter Cincinnati days.
  12. Well, perhaps now that the law that was being ignored is now a constitutional amendment the prosecutors will take more care in their notifications.
  13. I know when I was assaulted by a career criminal in Cincinnati it was like pulling teeth to find out about court dates and get information about how the case was progressing. Ultimately, at the last court date that I was not notified about, the individual got a sweetheart plea deal that kept him in jail for only a short period of time. Afterwards he was released to continue his lifelong crime spree. It was my understanding with this amendment that this won't happen to others in the same situation. Am I mistaken?
  14. Cranley won 54% and since Yvette only won 46%. 54-46= 8% win. LOL, OK. I do get math. It just seems like landslide should be a term for more like a 15%+ kind of win. At least double digit percentage. Just my $0.02.
  15. Can anyone explain to me how winning with 55% of the vote is a landslide? Seems a bit overstated.
  16. Yay! I used to love reading stuff on his/her site. It really went down the toilet after it was bought, so I'm glad to hear it's coming back in its original format.
  17. Can someone make the argument for Michelle Dillingham and Leslie Jones for me? I've got two left to pick and these two seem to be ones that you folks are bringing up more than others.
  18. At least you're consistent. That's your take on gun control too,
  19. Don't get me started on personal interactions with her. Let's just say nobody should invite her to a community council meeting unless they want a massive headache. However, she often votes on issues I agree with which may force me to vote for her if I can't fill out my nine.
  20. I could use some help as well. Below with a "plus" are people I am voting for and "X" are those I'm definitely not voting for. However, I have two left to pick from the "question mark" list. How are these bubble folks on historic conservation and transportation? I know I can research it, but I've found that their platforms online are often just lies they publish to get elected. I've had much better luck when hitting up people who have actual experience with the individuals. + Derek Bauman + Tamaya Dennard + Henry Frondorf + Brian Garry + Greg Landsman + Chris Seelbach + Wendell Young ? Erica Black-Johnson ? Ozie Davis ? Michelle Dillingham ? Tonya Dumas ? Lesley Jones ? Kelli Prather ? Laure Quinlivan X Cristina Burcica X Manuel Foggie X Seth Maney X David Mann X Amy Murray X Jeff Pastor X P.G. Sittenfeld X Christopher Smitherman X Tamie Sullivan
  21. Yeah, we live right near 12th/Race and the drug dealing there is pretty much non-stop even with the school right there. I know we've gotten quite of few of the dealers locked up and even know about a half dozen by name, but it has only gotten slightly better in the last few years. We're hopeful with more development going on and the closure of some drug dealer friendly businesses things will get better.

They're over the counter from the pharmacist versus behind the counter.
  23. xumelanie[/member] and I were discussing this last night. They're not sold out (due to changed festival format and $$$++), so we're guessing that the smaller venues were all that was needed. They moved Walk the Moon to really late on Sunday which is bad for us as parents and people with Monday morning jobs. However, since it's not sold out it's not like we can sell them, so we're just gonna suck it up.
  24. I've heard bad rumors of Fountain News moving into the building. If that's the case the area in general is going to get even worse.
  25. I get the impression that Simpson isn't too interested in urgently expanding the streetcar with the focus to be on current service and studying again a potential extension.
