Good news, from the article on Cleveland.com, a meeting is scheduled for June 29th at which point there should be more details on Jail/Justice Center replacement. Bad news, the consultant on the project was been given another year to complete their study. This is the other white whale out there in my mind. SHW, CLF and the Justice Center replacement. I know it's not Christmas yet but I'm asking for that rendering (SHW Tower and CLF in a Nucleus style tower) + a high-rise Justice Center replacement. I know that last part may be a pipe-dream but I'm asking Santa anyway:

Yes - I thought the Cleveland Clinic had sold the property (possibly to a developer but not a tenant - I think). Again, I'd vote for a new tower downtown - what a statement that would make in conjunction with SHW. If, however, Cliffs are looking for something quick around 1/2 million sq ft - I think TRW's site might provide a solution. I hope I'm wrong

Awesome article - as per usual. Coming from someone that would love to see a new headquarters building in downtown Cleveland, dare I ask if the former TRW headquarters would be in play in the 'burbs?

I'm down for Spiders or Guardians. Whatever the name is, it will take some getting used to initially but it will become natural over time. Names that have some link to the city and/or the club's history feel right.

I'm still anxiously awaiting news on the Justice Center - another transformative project. I'm not sure that it is a candidate for "next" project but it should be on a list of possibles as well, no?

If we are picking towers from Pickard Chilton's portfolio. The Northwestern Mutual tower is right in SHW's 30-35 story range and has a somewhat varied roof. The tower is 550 ft and is a fairly conservative design for a conservative company like SHW.

KJP - still a chance at a courthouse tower approaching 35 stories? The article mentions that it is still a consideration but is that an unlikely outcome from your research?

I've seen references to a BOK Tower as a reference point for SHW's new headquarters. Thinking about this over the weekend, the tower sounds a lot like Target's headquarters to me (which is 33 stories and has a smaller tower adjacent to it):

Any update in the CLE.com article about the courthouse tower. If memory serves me correctly, there were (4) possibilities for the Justice Center Complex being considered. Two of the options were a low rise jail and a new courthouse tower (Option 1 - high rise tower and Option 2 - mid rise tower). Since the low rise jail seems to have been decided, can we assume that the other two options are out and we are down to either a high rise courthouse tower or a mid rise courthouse tower (with me selfishly preferring the former).

The jobs and the retention of a major corporation are the most important things and I am not suggesting that someone build something on spec - my point is that Public Square (like Times Square, the Magnificent Mile, maybe La Defense as a more recent example) are such unique and historic spots that it seems like a missed opportunity to build something impressive on those spaces. 30 floors is nothing to be upset about. I wouldn't mind seeing something similar or taller, perhaps from the Justice Center, on another PS lot. There are plenty of other locations in Cleveland for organizations interested in something less dramatic. Why choose PS if you don't respect how distinct, unique and historic it is. Having a dramatic Public Square only adds to the allure of Cleveland IMO

The truth is no one knows who would be next. Maybe an out of town company, maybe a growing company (Alexander Mann), maybe the Justice Center?? I rather believe good news (SHW HQ, Playhouse Square, London Stock Exchange, etc) draws attention and helps others think/believe why not Cleveland - ie, if you build stuff, they will come. ?

Does anyone know if SHW still has an annual sales / business conference? I thought I had read speculation that they were likely to announce the construction of a new world headquarters at their annual business meeting which was in the Jan/Feb timeframe pre-Valspar. Perhaps, if they are holding a similar conference in 2020, the announcement would be made at the meeting this go'round?

Was fooling around on the internet over the weekend. Target's downtown campus is 1.8M sq ft and is spread over two buildings (one of which is 30 stories - 33 I believe).

KJP - Quick question, and I apologize if you have already addressed this BUT was the possibility of a tall Justice Center tower the "other big downtown news" that wasn't SHW or is there still another announcement lurking?

I’m pro- tower (glass or otherwise). I’m honestly hoping for something closer to the 40 stories on PS - State Street is new and meets that 40 stories criteria. I might prefer something more Key Tower-esque BUT if it close to 40 stories, it’s a win whether glass or otherwise. Apologies if my earlier comments were misleading. I thought the Brooklyn tower was appropriate for a courthouse and for PS
