Columbus: Ohio Expo Center Developments and News
I believe there is quite a bit that the Ohio History Connection owns but that cannot display due to space requirements/restrictions, or displays on a rotating basis. For example, they took a lot from the old Ohio History of Flight Museum that used to be on the grounds of CMH, but most remains in storage or in temporary exhibits. I guess this new facility will make the logistics of rotating exhibits and artifacts easier. As a sidebar, looking at Google Maps and the location of the OHC and the greater fairgrounds made me sad. The current setup is such a mishmash of buildings, parking lots, unused green space, and weird streets. It's about time the expo center, history connection, and the city get together to completely reimagine that whole swath of land from East 11th all the way up to Hudson St. There's so much opportunity to remake the layout and create a really incredible space for all the events that take place there.

Columbus: Downtown: Discovery District / Warehouse District / CSCC / CCAD Developments and News
CMHOhio replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI don't believe these renderings and video from Kephart of 195 E. Broad St. have been posted: https://kephart.com/take-a-tour-195-east-broad-street/ I'm all for the height and additional residential units, but man is that an ugly building. Only in Columbus do we design a new building to emulate an existing parking garage (and then put additional floors of parking in the new building for good measure).

CMHOhio replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionCarmenton, Ohio... Ohio State choses school-pride name for Innovation District By Carrie Ghose – Staff reporter, Columbus Business First Sep 29, 2022 Ohio State University's Innovation District has a new name drawing on a 120-year-old school pride tradition. Carmenton, as the district is now known, will concentrate laboratory, computing, faculty offices, outpatient medicine and other university buildings melding many disciplines alongside private science-related businesses and mixed-use development including housing and retail. The goal is to rapidly percolate solutions to global problems like food insecurity, cancer and climate change, and to identify and head off potential future problems. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2022/09/29/ohio-state-rename-innovation-district-carmenton.html

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
There's already 3 car wash/detailing businesses within a mile of this parcel of land. Is there really an un-served, neighborhood need for this service? I know this area of town can't be picky when it comes to new business wanting to come in, but I still think the conversation is warranted.

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
I dunno...between this and the oil change operator proposal for S. High, it feels like auto-oriented "development" in the center city remains unbridled and without research for alternatives. I don't see why this parcel of land can't be used for residential, especially with its proximity to that weird strip mall that has been there forever at the entrance to Harrisburg Pike, as well as the latest plan for the redevelopment of Cooper Stadium.

Dublin: Bridge Park / Bridge Street District Developments and News
CMHOhio replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction*Phew!* I was about to write a long tirade about how this proposal is absolutely appropriate for the area. Exciting news having this next phase built. Nice to have something in the pipeline that's over 5 stories. Looking at the massing drawings, these buildings will also mesh well with the existing structures while providing a bit extra height.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
I really am hoping there is a spillover effect to the urban area of Columbus. While the commute as it stands now isn't bad, it will certainly get worse. I really hope a push is made to expand some kind of reliable transit to New Albany, even if it's in the form of an express bus initially. The MTA in NYC and NJ Transit run motor coach busses on longer transit routes, maybe COTA could adopt something similar to make the ride more appealing. A downtown - CMH - Easton - New Albany - Intel - Granville - Newark line would be an incredible start.

Columbus: Historic Photos
Wow, these are fantastic. Great find! At least some buildings along High St. are still recognizable, but really a lot of amazing structures and density have been lost over the decades.

Columbus: Merion Village / Southside Developments and News
Seriously. I was so disappointed upon reading that the planned development is an oil service station. There needs to be more of what Schiff is building further up on S. High:

Columbus: Cooper Stadium Redevelopment
Hopefully something comes of this. It's such a shame the property has been allowed to sit and degrade for so much time. Too bad Arshot didn't/couldn't sell the proposed warehouse space to the cemetery to expand it out. Anyone know what the purpose of the shipping containers might be other than a weird form of fencing to block the view to/from the cemetery? Not sure why they're so hard-pressed to not see into Mt. Calvary or Greenlawn. They're basically parks.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
Likewise. This area of East Long St. stretching north to the Warehouse District is aching for more parking lot infill. A lot of progress has been made already, but I'm really digging these smaller developments to add more variety to the streetscape along with the block-length developments like Industry. Not at all! Neighborhood Launch has done wonders for the area, despite initial concerns about the lack of height. The development is architecturally pleasing with a lot of residential design features not seen in the urban core. No doubt this has set the stage for other developments we've seen along East Long St.

Looking forward to the completion of this façade refresh. Even more-so the conversion of the skywalk in the background to the Columbus version of the Highline.

Columbus: Near East Side / King-Lincoln / Olde Towne East Developments and News
CMHOhio replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionLove seeing all this development on the Near East Side. The bones of the neighborhood are already so solid - the additional residential and buildup of the neighborhoods in the area can really make these communities thrive. I'm hoping as residents and business continue to infill the neighborhoods that transit can also be improved. Two of the proposed LinkUS BRT routes go through the Near East Side. That along with better bike lanes along the main corridors will really create a cohesive environment. It looks like the treatments to bridges on Spring and Long between downtown and King-Lincoln Bronzeville are making the area a bit more hospitable to development. I can't remember if Broad, Oak, and Main will receive similar treatment (planters, trees, landscaping)? Really, the whole section of I-71 from Spring to Main needs to be capped. But we all know the hurdles holding that back.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
CMHOhio replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWow, have the commissioners had an epiphany? Is this the start of at least one commission that values density in the urban areas over which they have jurisdiction on proposed developments?

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
CMHOhio replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionNo way. I can't believe that parcel wasn't fetched by a developer! How in the world is the city and area commissions okay with this? Why not put a multi-story building on the site with an Equitas pharmacy and drive-thru akin to the White Castle building further up on High St.? Yet another missed opportunity.
