  1. I have access to the article; it sounds like the latter. CAPA would take over management of the Idea Foundry and use some of the spaces in the building for their own performances that would seat in the range of 25-150 people. The deal also includes the Gravity Experience Park next door. It sounds like CAPA along with the Idea Foundry management have some lofty ideas for the property, including restoring a retail presence near the main entrance, developing the experience park (into what is unknown, it doesn't specify in the article), and developing a rooftop space on top of the existing building.
  2. 5th needs buried power lines and light rail, like, yesterday.
  3. Cool perspective of the skyline from that angle.
  4. Oh man, you can really see how they drew inspiration from the parking garage from this view! 🤢
  5. I like the photos showing how the building's massing interacts with those around it. Seems like it's adding a lot to the cityscape in that area of downtown. Thanks as always for these updates.
  6. That facility is pretty amazing. Love the views available. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Same. Reading Terminal is iconic. Such an amazing buzz of activity, sights, and smells. Stepping foot in there for the first time as kid is a core memory.
  8. These photos are fantastic! Thank you for sharing. It really gives perspective on how far along the project is. Regarding the market expansion, I like the idea and look of the central bar and the additional stalls. I thought there would be room for more than 5-7 new vendors, though. But as long as there is functional outdoor space to allow for pop-ups, food trucks, and seasonal harvest setups, it should complement the interior vendors well. It looks like the ceiling height is several feet above the vendor signage, so it should have somewhat of an open feel. I actually like the close together feel of the vendor corridor. Kinda gives it a Reading Market in Center City Philly feel to it.
  9. A space reserved for retail in this building would be an awesome place to recreate the CD101 Big Room.
  10. Come to think of it, my guess is that Columbus State is interested in a hotel more for their own benefit as an incubator for their burgeoning Hospitality Management program. What better way to get hands-on experience in the industry than by having your own on-site hotel. It can also be a revenue source, especially during major events dates for the city (Arnold, Quarter Horse Congress, etc.).
  11. A hotel on any of the many surface lots on or around the CSCC campus would be a fantastic addition to that area of downtown. Not only would it serve Columbus State, but CCAD as well as the Western fringe of the King-Lincoln/Bronzeville area of town.
  12. Agree with everyone that this would be a great spot for another residential high-rise with a parking garage podium. Unlike what's proposed in the Brewery District, a multi-level parking structure would mostly be hidden by and protect potential residents from the I-70 highway boondoggle. RIP Milestone 229.
  13. Is this Millennial Tower 2.0? Needs more parking.
  14. The sprawl continues unabated. Taking bets on how long it takes for Polaris to become the next Northland/Morse Rd./161 corridor.
  15. Seriously. I'm surprised they haven't put a construction camera up on the CMH Next site.
  16. I like the name of the development. Hopefully this becomes the "standard" along High St. and other major corridors in the city included in Zone In. Yes! I was so happy to see that as well. Definitely win-win and hopefully we see this trend continue.
  17. Nice to see Merchant really starting to make its presence known.
  18. Funny you mention that. The Upper Arlington Historical Society sold blue Lazarus bricks as a fund raiser when the Kingsdale building was demolished. Surprised they didn't do that for Eastland.
  19. Pittsburgh's new headhouse (check-in, baggage sortation, claims, offices part of the building) includes a ceiling with wood paneling and some other really cool design elements: https://www.wesa.fm/development-transportation/2025-03-11/new-pittsburgh-airport-terminal-construction-progress I do agree that these 90% renditions are very sterile. But I believe that's intentional. 90% means 10% of the elements of the new building are not shown/undecided. For that reason, I do have hope that something covers those endless blank facades, either graphics boards, advertising, or ambient light. I agree that the function of an airport terminal is the most important element. If the new building can safely and efficiently move passengers, bags, employees, and vehicles through its space, then it's a great improvement. I think some elements of the design like the Y layout and the security checkpoint and excellent. That being said, I don't like the look of the Central Market. The ribbon of elevated windows and façade are reminiscent of Newark Terminal C and SFO Terminal 3, which are late 70s and 80s inspired designs, respectively. It would've been nice if the could've kept more of the Central Market elevated all the way to the glass wall façade. As we all know, Central Ohio is flat and has very few viewpoints. By having that area elevated, the concessions seating area would've had great runway views and potentially views of the surrounding area towards downtown.
  20. Very happy for this building's contribution to the city and to the skyline, but man does it irk me how said skyline continues to get longer when viewed from the west. Can't wait for the Estrella to add some height in between Capitol Square and the Franklin County courthouse complex.
  21. Tariffs don't make it cheaper to do business. Costs will rise regardless because the cost of producing in the US isn't going down. For example, a good costs $1 to produce and ship from elsewhere, but costs $1.50 in the US. Tariffs are applied and now the same good costs $2 to produce and ship from elsewhere. That same good is now going to be $0.50 more expensive even if the buyer now chooses to acquire said good from a US manufacturer. Even if the current administration enacts other means of making business cheaper to do in the US, those savings generally are not going to be passed down in the same way increased cost does to the consumer.
  22. I think if that were the case, the Intel fab would be on a fast-track for completion. Rather, the CHIPS Act that this project is dependent on is in danger of being scrubbed. The current administration's willingness to have Taiwan-based TSMC takeover Intel factories is also contrary to the ideal of having semiconductors made in the US by US enterprise. That would be especially concerning should China make good on invading Taiwan.
  23. I'd be happy with caps and just green space on top. Anything to knit back together what that chasm of a freeway has torn apart.
  24. I think February numbers will be about even at best since we'll be without Spirit's LAX nonstop. I'd expect numbers to start seeing a healthy increase YOY starting next month. Late spring into summer capacity increases are looking pretty good so far. Hope the momentum continues.
  25. That's great to see. Wish it was the rule rather than the exception in this city.
