As was mentioned previously, it was a good-looking proposal and really would have added a lot to this stretch of High St. One can only hope another developer comes by with the means to construct a similar project.

The Historic Resources Commission better not push for a smaller (re: shorter) building on that site! As mentioned, the district already contains multi-story structures. The building proposed for the site will certainly only add to the overall look and feel of the area in a positive way. Likewise thanks for the photos of the 530 E. Rich St. project! I too had no idea this was moving already.

Really like how the 3 sports complexes line up along Nationwide Blvd. While I enjoy this view, I hope they get the camera re-orientated back to the Hilton construction site!

My point in referencing what Queens County courts prints on their summons was more so to demonstrate that there are alternatives to just adding more parking - ones that I think government agencies should absolutely employ. I am more than aware of the density/transportation differences between Columbus and Queens.

Some notes from the article: The plan is to replace both Dorrian Commons and the ~5 story building to the South. At a budgeted cost of $130 million and taking up the whole block along High St. from E. Mound St. to E. Fulton St., I wonder what size and scale of building we could see here. It would be nice to see a tiered building that could allow for some height, but my guess is we'll see something similar to the Franklin County Common Pleas Court. The article mentioned the complex needs 840 additional parking spaces, to be built on the vacant plots of land mentioned previously in this thread. It's insane that our tax dollars continue to coddle the car culture in such a way. I presently live out in Queens, NY. If you have a jury summons, it is printed - specifically, in large letters - do NOT expect to find parking and to take public transit. Why can't summons here have the same message? Or go a step further and include bus routes that serve the complex or discounts on uber/lyft fares?

Hopefully they reconsider the senior housing part for many of the reasons already listed. I do think the 3rd parcel and the triangular piece of land east of the new stadium are ripe for 12+ story residential development. It just seems so ideally situated to take advantage of all the nearby amenities as well as for the views of the stadiums, downtown, Franklinton, and even Grandview Yard and OSU in the distance.

Looks very nice. I do hope the hotel does match this concept and mirrors the library on the other side of the Oval.

Kinda surprised this hasn't been touched on yet, but there is a plan to demolish the former Save-A-Lot on East Main St. and build a new, 4-story apartment building: https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/2021/03/15/developer-wants-apartments-near-east-side-save-a-lot-grocery-site/6936234002/ I remember when the Save-A-Lot first opened to lots of fanfare 13 years ago. It helped fill in the food desert in this part of the Near East Side for over a decade; it's a shame it closed last year. That being said, a new apartment building on this site could be a nice shot in the arm to that part of East Main St. The article points to increased interest in the area due to Nationwide Children's continued expansion, something we've been seeing in nearby Old Oaks.
