  1. Only if it's converted to a retracting roof!
  2. Really like how the 3 sports complexes line up along Nationwide Blvd. While I enjoy this view, I hope they get the camera re-orientated back to the Hilton construction site!
  3. Wow, I never realized that either. While not as many planes pass over the arena, it seems like a good place for Nationwide to put their image akin to the United Center in Chicago:
  4. I think the TRIAD proposal would look really nice along with the 13-story apartment proposed for West Broad St.:
  5. Quite partial to The Ahab. Subtle, but with just enough shade...😏
  6. Another added route by Southwest starting this summer, June 6 to be exact, from CMH to MYR: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/book-today-southwest-airlines-takes-150000915.html
  7. My point in referencing what Queens County courts prints on their summons was more so to demonstrate that there are alternatives to just adding more parking - ones that I think government agencies should absolutely employ. I am more than aware of the density/transportation differences between Columbus and Queens.
  8. Some notes from the article: The plan is to replace both Dorrian Commons and the ~5 story building to the South. At a budgeted cost of $130 million and taking up the whole block along High St. from E. Mound St. to E. Fulton St., I wonder what size and scale of building we could see here. It would be nice to see a tiered building that could allow for some height, but my guess is we'll see something similar to the Franklin County Common Pleas Court. The article mentioned the complex needs 840 additional parking spaces, to be built on the vacant plots of land mentioned previously in this thread. It's insane that our tax dollars continue to coddle the car culture in such a way. I presently live out in Queens, NY. If you have a jury summons, it is printed - specifically, in large letters - do NOT expect to find parking and to take public transit. Why can't summons here have the same message? Or go a step further and include bus routes that serve the complex or discounts on uber/lyft fares?
  9. City, county take steps toward new downtown courthouse, garage By Tristan Navera – Staff reporter, Columbus Business First Columbus City Council has approved buying land downtown to build a new municipal courthouse. The city and county are also working out final designs for the building to be constructed on the site of Dorrian Commons Park and the James A. Karnes Building at the southeast corner of South High Street and East Mound Street between Mound and East Fulton streets. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/03/25/city-county-take-steps-toward-downtown-courthouse.html
  10. United will begin service from CMH to Charleston and Hilton Head, SC (4x and 3x weekly, respectively) as well as Portland, ME (4x weekly) this summer: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/03/25/united-adds-direct-flight.html Looks like United is taking a page out of the Allegiant playbook and starting less-than-daily service from several Midwest cities to summer beach destinations. They'll be using their recently-modified CRJ-550s, which take what would normally be a 70-seat jet but is outfitted with First Class and extra legroom economy seats, as well as a closet for carry-on bags. A portion of these jets are going un-used due to the overall downturn in commercial air traffic, so activating them on these routes makes sense. https://hub.united.com/2021-03-25-united-airlines-adds-new-direct-flights-to-coastal-vacation-destinations-starting-memorial-day-weekend-2651205573.html
  11. ^Likewise. I'm guessing 20% probability of Hilton 2.0, 30% possibility of Milennial Tower, and 50% possibility of North Market Tower - where it gets revised/pushed back/changed/anticipated start date forever.
  12. More of this, please. All along High St. in Old North Columbus. Too bad Clintonville isn't willing to adopt this kind of infill.
  13. Nooooo! 😭 Historic Broadwin building back on the market as another revival plan falls through By Tristan Navera – Staff reporter, Columbus Business First Months after earning a state tax credit, raising hopes for the Broadwin's revival, the historic Near East Side building is back on the market. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/03/19/the-broadwin-back-on-the-market.html
  14. Thanks to @cbussoccerfor bringing to light another great set of construction cams from the historic Crew Stadium/OhioHealth Performance Center: https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/ohpc/construction-cam
  15. The organization's website: https://ohioairandspace.org/ The video of the proposed renovations and museum:
  16. As a huge local aviation enthusiast, I can't be more excited for this reuse of the old Port Columbus terminal (not sure if this can be cross-posted into the CMH thread in the Aviation subsection?): Here’s what original Port Columbus terminal could look like after $2M-plus renovation (slideshow) By Hayleigh Colombo – Staff reporter, Columbus Business First Mar 15, 2021, 3:00pm EDT Efforts to transform the old Port Columbus terminal into the Ohio Air and Space Hall of Fame and Museum are progressing. An Ohio nonprofit that has secured a long-term lease on the facility and plans to renovate the site shared new renderings and a "fly-through view" of the project on Monday in hopes of spurring additional donations needed to start. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/03/15/original-port-columbus-terminal-renovation.html
  17. Spirit will begin nonstop service from CMH to Pensacola, FL beginning June 10: https://newshub.columbusairports.com/storage/production/20210311134332-press-release-spirit-airlines-heads-to-pensacola.pdf That will bring Spirit to 8 destinations and 9 peak daily flights from CMH, if June schedules remain the same.
  18. Hopefully they reconsider the senior housing part for many of the reasons already listed. I do think the 3rd parcel and the triangular piece of land east of the new stadium are ripe for 12+ story residential development. It just seems so ideally situated to take advantage of all the nearby amenities as well as for the views of the stadiums, downtown, Franklinton, and even Grandview Yard and OSU in the distance.
  19. Looks very nice. I do hope the hotel does match this concept and mirrors the library on the other side of the Oval.
  20. Kinda surprised this hasn't been touched on yet, but there is a plan to demolish the former Save-A-Lot on East Main St. and build a new, 4-story apartment building: https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/2021/03/15/developer-wants-apartments-near-east-side-save-a-lot-grocery-site/6936234002/ I remember when the Save-A-Lot first opened to lots of fanfare 13 years ago. It helped fill in the food desert in this part of the Near East Side for over a decade; it's a shame it closed last year. That being said, a new apartment building on this site could be a nice shot in the arm to that part of East Main St. The article points to increased interest in the area due to Nationwide Children's continued expansion, something we've been seeing in nearby Old Oaks.
  21. Maybe one of the residents put the video together...👴
