Really diggin' this shot! Great to see all the crane action on the northern arc of downtown. Nice knowing the new Chipotle HQ is back there somewhere too. Looking forward to the "After" pics in a few years.

From a development standpoint, I'm really glad CoverMyMeds went ahead and started with the second phase of their new headquarters. It will definitely be nice to have the height of this second building in the area and make the project more visible overall. I'm really excited about the Casto renovations on the two warehouse buildings at 375 W Rich. They're cool old buildings and just like anything in Columbus, its so much better to see these structures preserved and reused. That being said, it's a shame the Spiritualist Church will not be spared the bulldozer. While the structure doesn't hold much in the way of architectural or historical value, it's still a piece of the history of the neighborhood. With so many successful church conversions to other uses, its a shame something similar to the Staufs coffee shop in the converted church on Neil couldn't happen here. Lastly, I am incredibly excited to see Gravity 2.0 go up! I hope the present situation with the pandemic hasn't been too much of a hurdle for the behind this amazing project.

I feel like the review board is all over the place. I agree, if they plan on building there, then the character of the buildings must be preserved. The latest iteration of the project seemed to address that. As has been pointed out elsewhere, there needs to be a commitment to then ensuring the developer follows through with the plan as presented and if it's noticed that unauthorized changes to the agreed-upon design has changed to bring it up to the city. And of course, the continued worry over height is asinine. There is nothing wrong with a 10, 11, 15 or even 20-story building along High St in this area!

Love this. My favorite Columbus neighborhood (OTE) keeps getting better and better.

Thanks very much for the photos - really happy to see this finally be a reality. Any comments on its functionality? As a pedestrian, cyclist, and motorist?

One would think a nationally-branded gym would be perfect for downtown. There used to be one in the 5/3 building overlooking Capitol Square - not sure what happened to it. My guess is that a lot of the recent residential development in and around downtown has small gyms as part of the building amenities, lessening the need for commercial fitness centers.

Despite the The Nicholas project's goofy appearance, it did remove a very large swath of parking in one felt swoop and hem together an entire city block along High St. Hopefully that leads to better, denser, taller developments in the downtown core (e.g. Harmony Tower). A large-format urban retailer in this building would be a nice fit and really add more the value of the development, as mentioned. Not sure of the viability of such a venture in the current environment, but hopefully in the somewhat near future we'll see something grand in there.

Really love all the development happening around the library and Topiary Park. I'm a huge fan of Grant-Oak Apartments new blue hue. The I hope the momentum continues, especially with the tragic loss of the Topiary Park complex. It is incredibly sad such a beautiful building was destroyed like this, but looking forward to better things to come for the neighborhood.

Very cool photo. I did not know of the building's previous history as a restaurant. I've always despised its existence, but there is a nostalgia to it. I imagine it will eventually be torn down for something else (please not a surface lot). Also, love the lady in the fur coat on the corner with the hair and heels. So late-70s chic.

This project makes me sad all over. The original proposal, that blank wall - I just can't unsee it. I know I shouldn't complain about another surface lot disappearing, but damn. ☹

Completely agree. It had been quite a drought as far as progress on new or proposed developments were concerned, to an extent. Obviously much of it was due to extenuating circumstances which is completely understandable, but still, it gets to you. Really happy to see the Hilton tower proceeding as planned.

Well this news totally caught me off guard today, but it such a good way! Overall, I really like the proposed design and I'm certainly a big fan of the height. It will definitely help fill in the skyline between the cluster of buildings on the north side of downtown and Capitol Square, as other have mentioned. I think the mesh screen as proposed is far more palpable that what Arshot was proposing with Millennial Tower; hopefully the Downtown Commission feels the same way. I love that Schiff is so bullish on being able to make this concept a reality and his desire to make it known to the community at a time like this. I hope the process to get to a completed project remain favorable for him and his team. Anyone care to make a mock-up of this proposal superimposed on the current Columbus skyline? Maybe with some Market Tower, Hilton 2.0, and Capital Square tower thrown in for good measure?

Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to parse this article out and put each update in its respective thread. Much appreciated. Really disappointed by this update, but it's not all that surprising considering the project hinges on landing a major office tenant. With office needs in complete upheaval, it will take time to determine what will be viable in the future.
