  1. Right!? That photo totally caught me off guard at first! I thought it was one of the "make you jump" photos, or maybe a mistakenly uploaded Tinder profile! 😅
  2. Take me back! I was there for dia de los muertos back in 2017 and had an amazing time. As mentioned, the town does cater to a pretty significant ex-pat population, but the place is still oozing with charm, as evident by these spectacular photos.
  3. Good question. The NBC 4 article makes it seem like buildings will be built on the caps, but I haven't seen anything from any government source confirming that claim. I too question the choice of 3rd St. over High St. Were there? I can't recall but this would make the most sense, in my opinion. Hell, the whole thing should be capped from High St. to 3rd St. with buildings flanking the street and parkland in between the buildings over the freeway.
  4. Yes! I was thinking the exact same thing. Hopefully they take advantage and do night markets, food truck events, small concerts, and other events where they can easily close sections of the street. I am worried about the sidewalk observation, though. It's hard to tell from the photos, but where in the development are the sidewalks narrow? That's such a shame, as this area would be perfect for sidewalk dining for restaurants and cafes.

Pretty cool Instagram video flying through downtown ala Spider-Man: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CtMiUHmscxg/?igshid=MmJiY2I4NDBkZg==
  6. Echoing everyone's sentiments regarding CDMX. Absolutely love it there.
  7. I think that's the dot in the letter "i" floating away and "gravitating" around the "G."
  8. Maybe not the entirety of Clintonville, but certainly the High St. and Indianola corridors are, or were. The amount that North High has actually regressed in urban, walkable density in recent years is shameful. The intersection of N. High and N. Broadway is the shining example of that. I think that's what's being called out as s**tty urban density, and rightfully so.
  9. Glad to see multi-story residential uses for land in this area. Though, similar to the proposal off East 5th, it's a shame that surface parking is so prominent in this proposal. I wonder what's the problem with consolidating and masking the parking behind the proposed structures and making access to Refugee and the existing bus infrastructure more inviting?
  10. Nice find. Agreed, it'd be preferable if they made pedestrian access to 5th better to encourage use of COTA routes 9 and 22. It seems like such a car-centric development in an urban part of the city would lead to a lot more congestion in this neighborhood.
  11. Probably the grain silos next to the Camp Chase trail. Regardless, you're probably right that at only 82' it will still make itself known. I'm still bummed it won't have a grander height, not even 100'. You'd think they'd want a landmark building to serve almost as a beacon for the venue.
  12. Is it me, or does anyone else think it the façade of the existing buildings could still be saved, even with the renderings provided? In the below render, it looks like the parking deck nearly meets the height of the bank building: I wonder if they could save the brick façade of the original buildings and overlay the bricks and window openings on the garage, then change the exterior cladding from charcoal gray to a reddish color. Might take a bit more effort, but I feel like it could be done.
  13. I believe you mean "leisure trails." Or are those only for the suburbs? 😉
  14. So, what you're saying is...ODOT finally did something right?
  15. Amazing what was under all that awful cladding. To bad we can't seem to have more of these renovations to older buildings.
  16. Broke the news before @cbussoccer!
  17. That sunken garden is looking fantastic! Really can't wait to see the sky bridge converted to an elevated park to really tie everything together. As I've mentioned before, these projects combined could really spur some new life into this section of downtown.
  18. Baby steps. Really hoping this change pushes through quickly and the goal of taller, denser development becomes easier to see through and more prevalent in our city.
  19. Well, this is an unexpected surprise! It a city so used to height decreases, it's nice to see a project end up (slightly) taller than anticipated. Now they just need to change the façade to distance it further from mirroring the garage next door and my opinion on this project will be vastly improved.
  20. Agreed. The intent for this space was always to be an event space catering to weddings and similar gatherings. Maybe people are confusing it with the plans for the Kee in the Warehouse District? https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2022/12/06/the-kee-warehouse-district.html From the article covering the opening of Genesis, it sounds like they also plan to serve as somewhat of an incubator for small, local businesses looking to get in to the events industry: That's definitely a concept I can get behind. Wishing them all the success in the world and thanking them for choosing a downtown location that fill another street-side storefront. I dunno. I attended a wedding reception in a similar space in downtown Peoria, Illinois. The after party spilled into several nearby bars where I (and others) spent way too much money on additional drinks, lol! I have no problem with others doing something similar in this area of downtown Columbus. 🙃
