  1. ^^ That building is the local United Way HQ. It was just an exterior rennovation.
  2. Check out the Chesterfield on East 12th street/Chester. It's one of the more affordable buildings downtown and I've heard that heat is included. Also, I believe that they have security guards at the door 24/7. However, I'm sure parking is extra.
  3. Does anyone know how the furniture store on St. Clair between W.6th and W. 9th is doing? Has anyone bought something there? I would assume that this place would be a good indicator of the demand for downtown furniture stores.
  4. Personally, I think Prospect would be better for a furniture "district." It already has 2 office furniture stores between East 9th and East 14th and there are several vacant storefronts. The May Co., Goldfish Army Navy, Prospect Place, Bottoms Up, Residence Inn etc. Also it is less congested than Euclid (no Silver Line) so customers would have an easier time loading up furniture.
  5. According to an article on Cleveland.com about K&D buying senior housing properties, the second round of bidding for the Ameritrust tower ends April 2nd and Price said he plans on making a fully compliant bid.
  6. I actually live downtown and work in the suburbs. There aren't a lot of people who do it, but more than you would expect. I've met people who live downtown and work in mentor, beachwood, westlake etc. To be honest the thought of moving closer to work did cross my mind, but I find the only time I really use my car is when I am driving to work. If I lived in the suburbs I would likely have to drive everywhere.
  7. I reported an aggressive panhandler on Huron to the DCA today and they had safety patrol there in about 3 minutes. The panhandler became noticeably less aggressive and after a couple of minutes just gave up. It was pretty impressive.
  8. This sounds a little more encouraging..... Developer hopes to go ahead with Ameritrust project Posted by Michelle Jarboe February 28, 2008 20:15PM Categories: Breaking News, Real estate K&D Group The K&D group planned to remake the vacant Ameritrust complex into shops, offices, homes and a hotel.A intial rebuff won't stop a private developer from trying to remake the vacant Ameritrust complex into homes, shops, offices and a hotel. Cuyahoga County today threw out a bid from The K&D Group for the collection of buildings at East 9th Street and Euclid Avenue. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2008/02/24-week/
  9. Check out the Pointe at Gateway. It's on Prospect by East 9th. It think rent starts at about $950 for a 2 bedroom. Also, the building is in the process of going condo so they may not renew your lease next year. It depends on how well the sales are going.
  10. Who owns the rights to the CAC name and logo? The " Phoenix Committee" is being led by the former club president so presumably they control the name and logo; it was a member owned club. I'm just curious because I doubt that if K&D/Mann wanted to re-open the club that the ex-members would stand in their way.
  11. Saigon opens Thursday. The space looks real good, hopefully they'll have signage that looks nothing like Zocalo's.
  12. Was this the site originally proposed for the Lighthouse Landing residential tower? I am real glad to hear that this site is being developed because I feel the FEB project will now be more connected with the WHD. Previously I felt that this project would be an island separated from the rest of downtown.
  13. I had no idea that Eli Mann wanted to add 8 stories to one of his buildings. Even though some projects downtown are larger than Mann's I am the most excited about his. Euclid between E 9th and E 12th is the worst part of downtown.
  14. K&D Group gets loan for Atrium Office Plaza Tuesday, February 05, 2008 CLEVELAND K&D Group gets loan Cleveland City Council voted unanimously Monday to give the K&D Group Inc. of Willoughby a $5.1 million loan to transform the Atrium Office Plaza on Euclid Avenue as part of a $64 million project. The project will include retail space and 215 rental units. It is expected to create 80 jobs.
  15. This is real good news since Key indicated it was looking at suburban locations as well. Does the May Co. building even have any other tenants?
  16. Who will be the new tenant for the Variety Theater? I didn't even know there was rehab going forward.
  17. When K&D refer to this "plaza" I always visualize the small parking lot next to Constantino's. It has a walkway, a little bit of landscaping but is basically a dressed up parking lot. I wouldn't be surprised if K&D wanted to offer free short term parking similar to what Constantino's does for their customers. Also, how does this walkway to prospect effect the building on prospect? Will it be a partialy indoor walkway or is this building going to demolished as well.
  18. I walked by the Eucild and 9th tower today and it appears that they are recovering the building with the metal panels removed last week. Does this mean they backed off the project due to the condition of the facade or is it common to have a "trial run" to see what the condition of the facade is, how hard it is to remove the metal etc. then to proceed when the weather is better?
  19. K&D plans $200 million redevelopment of Ameritrust space By JAY MILLER 12:50 pm, January 15, 2008 The K&D Group of Willoughby plans to remake the southeast corner of Euclid Avenue and East Ninth Street into a $200 million, mixed-use complex with a boutique hotel, office and retail space and at least 543 residential loft units... http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20080115/FREE/482138467/1004&Profile=1004
  20. Great news! Are there any other building downtown besides the Euclid and 9th tower and the buildings next to the Statler that have been "modernized" like this? Also, I am writing this after a walk down Euclid and East 4th to check on "progress".
  21. Vinea on Huron across from the Wyndam closed. It seemed like they were always full for lunch but totally empty for dinner.
  22. Pointe at Gateway
  23. I live on East 9th/ Prospect and the street was not that bad.

I have lived downtown (Pointe at Gateway) for a couple of years and have really enjoyed it so far. If you're working on public square check out WT Grant lofts on Euclid Ave next to House of Blues. Although personally I have never been in Reserve Square, I have spoken to numerous people who live there/have lived there and they almost all hate it. They said management was totally unresponsive to repair requests and the surrounding area is pretty dead at night.
  25. ^ It's Erie Lofts on West 4th. Check out the Pointe at Gateway, you can get the penthouse for 290K.
