Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
I got lunch at Theresa's on friday and the food was pretty good, I had an Italian sub. The place was suprisingly crowded considering the construction outside. They have a sit down area as well as a counter of pizza by the slice and subs. The menu and prices reminded me of Geppetto's.

Cleveland Neighborhoods
^^ When I was at Ignatius I heard of 1 violent crime against a student, there was an armed robbery on lorain. Other than that I always thought the area was fairly safe. However I know they had a problem with theft for a while, people taking DVD players out of classrooms etc. Maybe that was a factor.

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
JC Penney was at one point listed on the site plan as a proposed tenant. However, that was removed a while back and it now justs lists the spot as "major retailer."

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I recently went to Zocalo for a second time after a not so good first visit. The second visit was much better. My complaint the first time wasn't so much the food but the service. They seem to have worked out their service issues. Also, I recently tried the take out window and the food was much better than I expected.

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
Is the vacant office building on prospect next to the atrium garage part of the sale? That building would obviously need to come down as well if East 6th were extended. I personally don't mind the Dollar Bank building coming down. Frankly I think it's ugly and has been empty for years. However, tearing down 2 building is going too far. I always thought the building on prospect would make for a nice, affordable condo conversion like the Pointe at Gateway.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I heard that the Grande Arcade (W. 6th and St. Clair) expanded the rooftop deck beyond what the roof was capable of supporting and caused some serious damage. Additionally, this voided the warranty on the roof and led to some major league assessments some as high as $30,000.00

I think the Frank and Pauly's space is being converted into a bank. The PD said Tristate bank will be opening its first cleveland branch in 200 Public Square soon.

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
I wonder if the K&D group will attempt to redevelop both 668 Euclid and the Ameritrust site or if it even has the resources to do both. Also, I understand that the county is removing asbestos but I really don't see developers rushing to take on this project.

Cleveland: The Park Building
Some interior demolition is happening in the spaces where GNC and Subway used to be. The retail spaces in the building are very small and must be hard to lease. Does anyone know if the developer has any specific plans for the street level space?

Cleveland - Where to live for $150,000?
In regards to my prior comment of the Pointe at Gateway being overpriced, the developer has raised prices on most of the floor plans 20% in the last 2 years. Also, these price increases were not accompanied by upgrades for the most part. Except for the new model 2 bedroom and 1 of the penthouses, the units for sale have mediocre finishes. I feel paying $200 per sq. ft. for a 600 sq. ft. condo with a worn, cheap finish is too much. However, if you can find a unit with a price you like, I would highly recommend moving here. The management of the building is great, we have 2 on site custodians. Also, the maintenance fees are very reasonable at about .25 per sq. ft. The building is real sturdy and there shouldn't be any assessments in the near future. The condo association has a pretty sizable reserve. Noise can be an issue at times, especially for the lower floors, but on the 7th floor where I live there seldom is any noise. Someone previously indicated that they give 1 year of free parking, I think that only applies to the penthouses. It's $125 per month to park across the street.

^ The building is the Pointe at Gateway, I live there. Personally, I really like it but I feel some the units have become overpriced.

Another One Moving to Cleveland
I'm glad you liked Lakewood. In regards to where you should look downtown, go to progressiveurban.com. Their site lets you search for homes by neighborhood. The Warehouse District and the Gateway Neighborhood are both parts of downtown. I did a quick search for condos in the Warehouse District and saw about 15 in your price range.

Another One Moving to Cleveland
Welcome to Cleveland! Have you thought about living downtown? I bought a condo downtown 2 years and so far it has been a great experience. There are certainly plenty of restaurants and bars to walk to and in my opinion it is a safe place to live. Check out the Pointe at Gateway, The Grand Arcade and the Waterstreet Condos. I also work on the west side and the reverse commute isn't bad at all. If you're set on buying a home take a look at Lakewood. If you like Cleveland Heights you should like Lakewood as well since they are very similar. It's a west side suburb and it's a very safe and pedestrian friendly community. Also, Lakewood has a lot of options in your price range. Also, please don't listen to the comments of your suburban coworkers regarding Cleveland's neighborhoods. When you mention that you're looking at Ohio City, Tremont, etc., they will probably try and discourage you. Although I love Cleveland, people in this community often have a negative, cynical view of the city.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
I went to Zocalo for lunch on Friday and the food was good, but the service was extremely slow and the portions were small considering the price. It shouldn't take 30 minutes to make a taco and what kind of restaurant runs out of silverware? When I was seated they told me they were running short on silverware and I had to wait about 20 minutes for it.

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
I found this in the Cleveland Restaurant thread. It's from Scene. It will be good to see the house lights back on in the former Gene Hickerson’s restaurant in the Hanna Building this November, when restaurateur David Glenny launches an outpost of his Akron showpiece, Bricco, on Playhouse Square. Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
Thats too bad about the First Merit branch, that means 3 bank branches have closed on Euclid in the past 3 months. I have a feeling that Dollar Bank is next since the building is for sale and they are opeing a highly visible branch in the Galleria. As for the pub, I would assume that project is dead. There hasn't been any work on it for quite some time and an "available" sign was placed on the building a couple of weeks ago.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
I don't want to sound negative because this is great news, but what about the older buildings these companies would leave? New construction will be great for the city, but I don't want current downtown companies to just shuffle around. Preferably, a suburban company would relocate into the city (although to be perfectly honest I'm not sure what large companies in the suburbs would be willing or able to move). Does anyone think that the Clinic would move some administrative departments downtown? I recall hearing that they were contemplating moving some administrative jobs out to the suburbs. Maybe new construction could encourage them to consider downtown.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I've been complaining to CPP for about a year regarding the street lights on Prospect and I have seen no progress. I recently spoke with someone at the Historic Gateway Neighborhood (I can't remember his name) and he said he is doing everything he can and is getting extremely frustrated. Basically CPP just ingores all customer complaints.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I thought the curfew was already approved... Overnight curfew approved for Cleveland Public Square Posted by Susan [email protected] August 08, 2007 21:50PM Categories: Breaking News Cleveland City Council approved a curfew today for Public Square. No one can loiter in the three city-owned quadrants near Tower City Center between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Also, the council voted to create an adult entertainment district in the Flats. The district will be limited to two existing strip clubs: Diamond Men's Club and Larry Flynt's Hustler Club.

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
In regards to the Galleria, isn't Dollar Bank moving into the St. Claire side and opening a branch which will have a seperate entrance? I remember an article in the PD about this last fall.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
I live on Prospect and I've called CPP numerous times about the poor quality of the street lights. Each time they just say the problems are a result of Euclid Corridor. I also wrote letters to Cimperman and the Historic Gateway Neighborhood. The neighborhood association told me they were working on the problem about a year ago, but no results to date. Just last night Huron was completely dark until midnight.

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
The drop in membership really isn't due to construction, although it certainly didn't help. In January, management imposed an assessment of over $300 on each member. People left in droves after that.
