Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I have 3 questions..... #1 Why does downtown Cleveland "need" an anchor department store in Tower City? #2 Why are the apartments a bad idea? #3 Why does it need more B class office space? Theres plenty of it already sitting around vacant in numerous locations throughout downtown if it was truly needed.

I mean.....he hasnt SOLD all of his companies. Just go to his website. This is in additon to what he was already doing and he eliminated a few stragglers it appears. He still owns car dealerships. Also, if anyone was confusing Ownum.io logo with Google?.....I mean they are the same colors. Maybe theyr involved somehow but this is a startup....sooooo https://www.berniemoreno.com/ https://ownum.io/

I think youre over accentuating how big of a city Cleveland is. Its not Chicago, NY, LA.....noone living in those towns wants to have a car because it costs so much to park it and they dont need to own it when they work less than a mile away. They Walk. They Bike. They use public transit. Etc etc. This can all be done in Cleveland if you are a working professional and typically you are "getting" a parking spot along with your apartment here. Thus it becomes much easier and feasible to own that car. Hey, if you dont want to own a car thats on you but if it cost effective to store it and you can afford it......I get youre point about transit, but, the rapid and busing runs to all ends of the city and right next to plenty of shopping options. Take public transit or take an uber. Pretty simple answer as opposed to the person above saying TC should be made int an outlet mall. Good lord thats a horrible idea just to cater to the gambling public??? That serves noone who actually lives downtown any good. There are grocery stores downtown. There is "some" shopping downtown. If you want chains to move into street level shopping fine but the point of this thread was to discuss what to do with TC.

I couldnt agree more. It was a glorious place to shop and be. But, like anything else.....it was new. It was shiny. It was hip and flashy to go shopping downtown. Those visitors that are coming into downtown cleveland in droves nowadays dont care about going into a mall to find the same stores they have back wherever they came from. They care about experiences, scenery, bars, restaurants, breweries, sports, shows, museums and believe it or not....shopping local. The days of the major chain stores having a huge economic impact on a downtown are over at somepoint. Yes they will still be there and should be accessible for those that live nearby but the visitors couldnt care less. I travel a ton for work and the last thing I am ever looking for is a chain....anything. Please lord god...less chains. lol

Groceries were almost always bought in Lakewood....5-10 minute drive. Occasionally I went to Steelyard Target. Obviously Amazon is huge so yes some of it was done @ Amazon. We moved out right before the RNC convention and thus the new Heinens downtown. If I lived down there still I would be doing all or most of my grocery shopping there. In regards to general shopping, we did most of that on the westside as thats where we are from. Westlake, Crocker Park was a primary place. I guess i look at it a bit differently. We dont live in a city like Chicago where theres 10million people and thus make it quite difficult to park, maneuver, go shopping etc. We actually enjoyed being able to get out of the city to do this and get there in less than 15-20 minutes at most. Thats the beauty of Cleveland downtown living. You dont need to worry about having that retail down there because its so easily accessible nearby.

Hi ! Not sure why thats a bad first post. Seemed pretty on topic and relevant to me. Then again I actually lived downtown and worked downtown for more than 5 minutes. Yes i have an opinion that maybe some disagree with but until you have the residential capacity to operate this kind of retail then why have it take up such an important space for business development? If some of that retail wants to move out of the cellar and into the street level im sure it will but its not like they were servicing a huge amount of customers willing to come down ot TC and spend some hard earned cash. So, why would anyone care if the retail left towercity? Time to get on board and move with the times. Theres a lot of old school foggies out there that think tower city should remain a mall and in all reality it never should have been made into a mall. Look at the Galleria....Noone is raising hell because of the lack of retail in there. Yet theyve started repurposing the space. Good bad or indifferent, at least its getting re-purposed for something useful. When someone gets off a train and enters into tower city, it looks a lot worse having it the way it is now than it would having it be a business hub with a few small retail options. (this is my 2nd post) hope you enjoyed it more than my first lol

Why do so many people care about these stores? I lived right downtown (west bank) for 5 years and barely ever even set foot in tower city to get to RTA let alone shop....? I dont get the outrage. - Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
