So, I am unsure if this is new but.. I was driving down spring street last night and noticed that the electrical transmission station along spring now has uplighting installed. Is this new? I never noticed this before but I dont often find myself on spring street in the evening hours. If it is new, it is certainly welcome. Definitely adds visual appeal to an otherwise boring sight. My first guess is that Connect added these as a part of their reno of the municipal light building but again, not even sure if these lights are new.

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
NightNectar replied to Toddguy's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe cantilevered brick was strange to me at first as well but as I continued to look at the design, it became apparent that they are really looking to "stack" the glass portion on top of the brick. I think the view from high and vine would be nice to see how that portion will appear to run "through" the glass portion. Im no architect so my terminology is likely awful but that is how I perceived it.

Ironically, I was just thinking the other day that it has been quite some time since I last saw the CBUS circulator. I honestly did not know that they stopped running that but I can understand why. With all that talk about an Arena District "east-west" circulator pre-covid (the "DBUS" if i remember correctly?) I am now curious if that idea has been canned or not. EDIT: Apologies, I am thinking out loud and this may not be appropriate for this thread.

Great point. How much parking was included across the street at Kaufman's 80 on the commons? Yeah, they connected to the commons garage but c'mon.. a precedent was certainly established, no? Fingers crossed.

NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSince it is almost open I decided to check Hyatt.com - Parking is free as expected with a lot this large. It looks to be a very nice hotel for the area.

NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionPersonally I do not see a Hyatt House being Valet Only - especially with a lot as large as this - so I would be surprised if that is the case here. Time will tell!

NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionHow they got away with putting the parking lot in front of the hotel and not behind will forever baffle me. Absolute miss in my opinion.

Columbus: Italian Village Developments and News
NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionHonestly, the 311 route is the way to go for this. If the commissions are not going to hold developers accountable, who will? It is frustrating that they commissions hold so much weight pre-approval yet, once approved, it seems to be a free for all. If I remember correctly, (please keep me honest) was the small parking lot just up the road on the west side of 4th supposed to be screened with trees of some sort as well? For reference:

NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWas not able to grab a photo but drilling for geo testing has started at the white castle/goodwill sites along 5th avenue. I cannot remember the developer or name of the proposal right now. That being said, I am looking forward to seeing that project come to life.

Stadium was great. Definitely unfinished as mentioned above but well enough to host the first game. I’m a STH so I look forward to seeing how the punch list work evolves further as the season progresses. Tough draw - electric atmosphere at the game and throughout the city. If we can get the fair weather fan to attend a game, they may get hooked. Go crew!

Drove down 670 recently and the stadium lights were on. The light does not shine thru the metal panels as much as I expected. Really hoping they have plans in place to light the exterior of the stadium because it truly disappears in the night once the sun sets. Fingers crossed.

My only remaining question would be is it Lower.com Field At "ABC" Stadium? or will the entire complex be known as Lower.com Field?
