  1. Looks like we will see 3 Luffing Jib cranes. The first is now in use. These reinforce the fact that we will have a tall building In a relatively small footprint - such a space saver.
  2. Ohh the clock watchers. They're still hanging on... **12:31** "You're late..."
  3. Very true. The virus just may be what was needed to push this forward as it has forced employers to quickly adopt flexibility into their work week. Lunch does not need to be such a rigid ideology any longer.
  4. I have desired more for Gay street for such a long time now. I understand the need for a mixed bag of businesses but I have felt that the print shops and other 9-5 spots should make way for more entertainment and restaurant concepts that can help to drive more success into ideas like the moonlight markets and pearl market just around the corner. I am all in for this -- especially a landmark piece and the lighting/visual concepts for the sidewalks.
  5. Agreed. Some dynamic LED uplighting would be a nice touch.
  6. My gripe is that the windows feel almost smushed into place (for lack of a better term). They just seem a bit small.
  7. Really wish the new Convention Center garage would have been wrapped similarly. Love the signage as it faces 315 - "Welcome to Columbus", "Columbus, Ohio" or something would have been nice as folks come into downtown from the airport.
  8. Funny thing about that is -- there is still a 'platform' at track level from when the fire union building was actually a train station. How cool would that be as a central station again once everything is complete at the peninsula and in franklinton? Then add a main hub at the bottom level of the new hilton/convention center. Feed a line up 71/Cleveland ave, one more north to bridge park/dublin, another to hilliard and gahanna's creek side (and airport) then down to canal and grove city. Someone fund that, too..
  9. UA Folks probably want a Trader Joe's more than anything to avoid that trip up sawmill. The irony.. Aldi and TJ's are owned by the same parent company, share a similar footprint and style... This could easily be built as a TJ's but I am glad it is going to be an Aldi.
  10. I would expect movement somewhat soon. Here is a recent update on the financing: https://insurancenewsnet.com/oarticle/ziegler-closes-27885000-financing-for-ohio-living-communities#.X4hRcnhKgoE
  11. That green plot just before the tracks along spring street is RIPE for a very tall development... EDIT: North side of Spring.
  12. As an Ohio University grad, I couldn't be happier for Jackie O's. Hopefully they do some work to update the facade. This was never the most "welcoming" taproom in terms of street presence.
  13. The windows still need altering. The masonry is bland for the area. I like the massing but even that could use some work to make it more interesting. I know development is an iterative process but this one is definitely a few iterations from acceptable considering its scale and location.
  14. Not to mention the fact that they could end up actually building out the office component which would work towards further closing the gap between the new chipotle building/garage and park street.
  15. From that last image, the podium appears to be in great condition. The wood will rise like a weed!
  16. That is great - thank you for the info!
  17. I hope the city replaces the traffic light infrastructure with the updated look -- black metal with no wires. Match it with what is present at goodale and ORR just across the bridge.
  18. That does suck. Maybe they will do another tower? Would love to see some additional height spread east.
  19. The CVS was first. There was no 6-story precedent to match. Children's built the L shaped garage that is now connected to the office building on the first and fourth floors. Prior to the office building there was a KFC that Children's could not acquire no matter what they tried. Eventually, the owner of that parcel gave in thus paving the way for the office building to be built at a height that matched the garage. With the CVS being less than 20 years old, I don't anticipate it going away soon. That being said, 16+ stories -- hell, up to 20 would work imo because it sits on US route 33 -- with a CVS keeping a retail spot on the first floor would be a wonderful finishing touch to this intersection.
  20. I thought Kevin Lykens controlled the old beer barn parcel but I could be mistaken.
  21. **CRANE ALERT** While traveling on 315 yesterday afternoon I noticed an erection in the distance... a tower crane at the CMM HQ ? Unfortunately, I was driving and could not snag a photo.
  22. Xander looks really good. The masonry at street level is well done and the color scheme is unmatched by any other recent podium-style development downtown.
  23. Certainly creates an ease of access to the stadium site when thinking in terms of Franklinton and Grandview. Otherwise, franklinton residents would have to go across broad, rich or main to then take the path to north bank to cross Spring/Long. Grandview would need to cross the river at third and take the path through harrison west and then into arena district by riding down goodale (not too pedestrian or cyclist friendly). The under the bridge route would be a very nice addition - however, without it, I still recognize accomplishments in ease of site access. Side note: The next pedestrian bridge needed is from veterans memorial center to north bank park. Something eye-catching and well-lit. We will want people to easily get from the arena district to the scioto peninsula development since there will be restaurants, bars, shopping and parking.
  24. If I remember correctly, the new Forensic Science Center had a decently long construction timeline so I believe the morgue is still operating out of the Old Cannon Drive Facility at this time. **Edit** I am wrong, it appears to be complete after a quick search. Time flies! Building looks good.
