Columbus: Victorian Village Developments and News
NightNectar replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionPersonally, I absolutely adored one of the first iterations of this project. Its a real shame the commission forgot that they lived in a booming urban neighborhood.

Columbus: Downtown: AC Hotel - Park & Spruce
One lot that has always been of interest to me is the old sports bar (name is escaping me) at the corner of vine and convention center. Back when the building was removed, that lot was floated as another parking replacement for Market tower while under construction. While it currently sits as a gravel lot, I often picture a tall mixed use filling that void. The lot dimensions and location beg for density.

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
Would guess that due to the proximity to other buildings we probably will not see a hammerhead style tower; rather, a luffing style tower. Time will tell.

Columbus: Downtown: Discovery District / Warehouse District / CSCC / CCAD Developments and News
NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionUnrelated; however, located in Discovery District. Has anyone noticed that Encova added a strip of LED lighting around the top of their building? Subtle difference but noticeable. Huge fan of lighting accents on the towers.

NightNectar replied to seanguy's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWow. Green space taken away for a parking lot. Should be illegal.

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
Not the easiest to make out.. but that is some geo testing taking place at the site of Gravity II. Noticed them setting up when I was walking from franklinton to downtown this morning.

Columbus: German Village / Schumacher Place Developments and News
NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWow I get heated just reading the article. These residents are nuts... bypass the commission and go to the city.

Columbus: Harrison West / Dennison Place Developments and News
NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI'd challenge this and say Broad street from 70 in Franklinton to Bexley ? So many vehicle lanes.. so few bicycle lanes.. so not pedestrian friendly

Grandview Heights: Developments and News
NightNectar replied to JohnOSU99's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction“Playing in a solar eclipse” is truly a stretch. I find it hard to believe that residents who purchased homes in Grandview 10 years ago did so without the belief that the popularity of the area would drive up the value of their homes. This is simply a byproduct of that popularity.. also, the byproduct of choosing a property that is adjacent to Grandview Avenue. That strip has been adding larger buildings pretty steadily. Saying this development is “unprecedented” is unbelievable.

Columbus: Fifth by Northwest (5xNW) Development and News
NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionFrom comparison of the before and after pictures, my guess is that where we now see extra space is where the old rail bridge once stood. They basically built that support column under both the old and new bridge until the old bridge was deconstructed. That being said, I do not doubt that it was completed in this manner in order to accommodate easy future expansion (I.e. another freight line) EDIT: Never mind that, after more careful comparison.. I am wrong.

NightNectar replied to JohnOSU99's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWith this work and some of the work they will do at founders park, new avenue is underwhelming.

Columbus: Downtown: AC Hotel - Park & Spruce
This has been so interesting to watch — I can honestly say I have not seen another recent commercial build completed this way. Curtain wall and the classic steel structures have really been all that I have noticed. Am I correct in this thought? Or have we seen something similar with mostly metal framing studs? Loving the progress

I had lunch in Franklinton today and parked in the garage over there. While leaving, I spotted some work at the site of the second phase of River and Rich:

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWhat a shame. "Measure twice, cut once.." They have been applying these changes since about September. Really makes the finished product look worse because of the patchwork; however, i am happy to see that it is being taken care of.

On the southeast side of this build (From Mound) you can see the paint scheme coming to life -- it is certainly unique. White and black alternating "zig zag" pattern.

NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThink of punch list items as a final "checklist" of tasks to be completed on the project before final sign off/project closure.

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
Let this settle in.. a 12 story tower is proposed for an empty lot in Franklinton, yet the corner of high and gay got a 6 story eye sore. I’m glad I’m not a betting individual because I would have put the mortgage on the polar opposite occurring.

I’ll stop in at Stauf’s tomorrow morning for a cold brew to see if any movement has occurred since I snapped that photo

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionFunny quirk: The "shadow" of the missing letters left behind makes it appear that this building and signage have been around for years

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
NightNectar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionGreat call out! -- it felt narrow for an area that was once vast but I can completely understand your view on adding to the "bustle". I feel that placing the docks in a dedicated zone on the road would add to the urban bustle while improving the foot traffic.
