That may be the most incorrect statement I ever read on this site. The base of racism is ignorance. The statement Obama made was nothing more than ignorant.. He admitted not knowing the facts and still called the officer's actions "stupidly." There is no proof that the officer is ignorant, but Obama's satatement is. Wonder why this self proclaimed victim was not happy his neighbors were looking out for his best interest? They called the police for him/for his property. I'm sure if the caller did not make the call to report this activity, he/she would be deemed a racist for not calling when a black man's home is getting burglarized......... "Burglarized" in the eyes of the caller. I'm well aware that the home was not being burglarized.

Are you referring to the property east of the I-176 on the north side of Spring or that on the west side south of Spring? On the former, I've seen people take ATVs and bikes down there. I guess it's set up like a stunt track (or whatever the term is for it). I've only seen construction storage at the NW corner of Spring and Jennings where Foghorn Leghorn has been hanged. I am referring to the large grass field on the south side. The property where the dirt bikes ride, the north side, is owned by Bradley Dump.

There is 11 acres of land for sale on Spring Road, Just off of I-176 exit/entrance. I looked into the property and the asking price is $800,000. That was the end of my conversation. I wonder what that piece of land will turn into....

I wonder why I have never heard/read anywhere that the mayor of Bay Village, the city council in Chagrin Falls, the police in Chardon are/is the reason why that city is a wonderful place to live? Really, I don't wonder why. The reason is because none of them make the city a desireable place to raise a family. People can complain all they want about Frank Jackson, any and all of City Council, CPD, Eugene Sanders, and so on. This City will never change until the citizens themselves change. If that were to happen (I don't see it), this City would turn around in a skinny minute. How to accomplish this? Legally, I don't know. But I do know that the easy and often elected way is to flee to another city/town where the residents don't make the 6 o'clock news regularly.

Just to let you know,, for a fact about the WHD or the E.4th area. Every Night Club hires 1-2 cops for security. Those cops have to stay at that Night Club. The WHD has 2 (that's right,, only 2) cops who are to patrol, on foot, the entire WHD. There is a 3rd cop, but he/she is assigned to one of those yellow SUVs and that cop has to patrol the entire downtown area,, not just the WHD. E.4th is nearly the same. All Clubs hire 1-2 cops. There is only 1 cop who patrols E.4th on foot. There is no way 2 cops on foot can handle the Warehouse District. Unless of course we were to expect people to act civilized and govern themselves...... But we don't have that expectation in Cleveland.

Man, I could not agree with that more........ But, through years of complaints by lawyers, televised citizens, politicians, and self proclaimed "community leaders", we are getting exactly what was asked for.... a kinder, gentler police department. Which equals harder, more aggressive criminals. Here is my simple solution to turn this city around........ and I know it will never happen. GET RID OF SECTION 8..... I know I said I'm "OUT". Oops.... I am satisfies with FloridaGuys answer so I just want to clarify: 1st) I couldn't open the PDF FloridaGuy has in his first post on this thread. So, I tried to look up the incident myself on a search engine given the information he provided. Those two sites, along with many more came up. I have never seen either before in my life. I am not saying either is valid, just opposing and they do relate to the question I asked. 2nd) In the case at hand, I never accused the 4 black men and 1 black woman of a sole racial motive. I have no idea why they did what they did. I would not throw that word around as easily as it is today. E.g.-- whenever a white police is involved in a shooting with a black male, the word racism is thrown out during the first television interviews--- usually by a "community leader." How people come up with that accusation so fast is beyond me. That's just an example. I'm not trying to start a new discussion. Just saying I'm not doing that. 3) Yes, the 5 were caught. A 5th male was accused of aiding/abetting as well. The body of Christopher was found in a field, the body of Channon was found in the house of 2 of the accused. The trial is set to begin in 2008.

OK. Thanks. But, if the OSU you speak of is Ohio State University, it did, or something very similar, made the news. The news media even went to the extent of showing the racist letter. To tell you the truth, I don't see how you can compare a letter to carjacking, kidnapping, rape, torture, mutilation, and murder. I am going to compare this so something else because my question/point may not be coming across. In the recent past, I remember a few horrible storys to make the national news. 1 was the black man that was dragged to his death behind a pick up truck by white men. Another was the gay college student that was beaten and murdered. Of course there are more. Wrong? Yes. Hate crimes? Yes. Newsworthy? Yes. Why isn't this incident even mentioned in the media? I am not asking why if a white person is called a "honkey" the media doesn't come running. I am asking this: If it is newsworthy when a white calls blacks a name, why is it not newsworthy, even in the State, when whites are carjacked, kidnapped, tortured, raped, mutilated, and murdered by blacks? I will say this. If a white(s) person did this to black(s), I myself think it would be newsworthy. Actually, the color of the criminal nor the victim mean anything to me. This is just an unbelievable story. Why was it not covered? Now, if you think this is just a trivial story and has no substance, then fine. Well, I wont say I disagree with you because it may be possible I didn't hear of anything like this happening to any one else. Not to be sarcastic, but rather on the serious side, can you provide an example in the recent months/years where a white person(s) inflicted this type of horror on a non-white and it did not gather national attention. I knew about this incodent for several weeks--- only due to an email, not due to any media outlet. Also, I am fully aware that every atrocity is not reported. But, lets just look at the recent name callings by Imus and Kramer. Wrong??? Yes.. But, it was just words. National attention in every media outlet for weeks?? Yes.. Here, we are talking of carjacking, kidnapping, rape, torture, mutilation, murder, and attempted cover-up. Dare I say that is worse? Well, to tell you the truth, there is no comparison. What happened here is heinous. Yet the media fails to mention it. HMMMM. Also, what exactly is "black fairness"?

Some residency requiring cities in Ohio still have a Stay on the overturned law. My advise for anyone who is/was recently hired by an Ohio city with these soon to be illegal requirements is to move into an apartment or rent for a few months. Soon, all citizens will have the right to choose. "PRO CHOICE!!!" Gotta love that saying.... I'm sure most here agree with it.

JDD941--- When I said "hillbillyish" (if that's even a word), I didn't mean to offend you or anyone who lives there. I myself am looking out there and I really like it. I would be very happy for my kids to have the opportunity to spend their childhood there. Like I said, I couldn't think of any other word. But, I do have to say I have looked at about 5-7 houses in Brunswick and did not get that impression at all. It's just what I have though of Brunswick while living in Cleveland and not actually seeing Brunswick for myself. I was guilty of stereotyping and I admit it. Although, maybe it was at one time, but it does not appear that way to me now.

One issue I have with Cuyahoga County is the sewer bill. I think it is ridiculous to say they are planning to raise the bill on a THIRTY year plan. I have always thought of Brunswick as kind of "hillbillyish." I can't think of any other word. But, I guess it is changing. Also, I hope the moderator and MyTwoSense realizes I'm joking. I would never want to get anyone in trouble. I'm sure it is understood I was joking. If not, I'm telling you, "I was joking."
