Cleveland: Duck Island: Development and News
Of all the developments that don’t become reality, this one ranks up there with those I really would of liked to have been built.

I’m really enjoying these trips down memory lane. https://www.cleveland.com/arts/2020/03/two-decades-that-transformed-downtown-cleveland-planner-hunter-morrison-looks-back-at-1980-2000.html

Cleveland: Cleveland Clinic News & Info
https://www.wkyc.com/mobile/article/news/local/cleveland/cleveland-clinic-named-second-best-hospital-in-the-world-by-newsweek/95-8c17881f-4d92-42c1-a487-9fd98c133c28 Not sure if we missed this, if it was posted elsewhere or.. most likely it’s not news that Cleveland Clinic is one of the world’s best hospitals. Side note: The three top hospitals in Ohio reside in Cleveland proper. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Metro climb these lists over the next decade. They already have one of the best level 1 trauma centers in the country.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I have no trouble blaming city officials and their seemingly never ending blunders. But Pace, and the snail’s pace (no pun intended) at which he moved this development forward shares some blame. I can’t say I’m shocked the relationship soured, as stated in the article, after five years where we only saw a restaurant and 16 residential units built.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Bernie Moreno keeps making moves. https://www.crainscleveland.com/technology/blockchain-firm-wins-funding-one-its-businesses “Ownum, the Bernie Moreno-founded company that is developing several businesses using blockchain technology, has secured funding for Vital Chain, which digitizes birth and death certificates. Ownum also announced that Vital Chain has its first client: the MetroHealth System. Medici Ventures, the blockchain venture subsidiary of internet retailer Overstock.com, will acquire an undisclosed equity stake in Vital Chain and assist Vital Chain with product development. MetroHealth, Cuyahoga County's public health system, also will assist in building the Vital Chain product.“

Busy morning on Michelle’s Twitter feed. Anyone have an idea when we may see the first renderings? Xmas in July maybe?

Can we take a vote on two UO members to replace Baskin and Phelps here?

Cleveland: Nautica Development
I recall a high rise with a moat I was lukewarm on.. the plan posted on the last page by KJP is amazing IMO. Did that conceptual plan come from Jacobs?

Only thing that’ll top this for me is the CVNP episode of Finding Bigfoot.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
I know a lot of people are critical of the Health Education Campus, but I tend to like it’s massive footprint. Beautiful night in Cleveland’s other downtown, can’t wait to watch this area’s continued growth!

Cleveland: Downtown: The Lumen
Ken, you did a lot of tea leaf reading when being the first to report SHW would remain in Cleveland (e.g. Morikis lakeside mega mansion & geotechnical drilling). Anything similar you’re seeing with PHS, outside of your sources, that indicate they’re lining up a second residential project? Just curious is all.. I’m probably comparing apples to oranges.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Lumen
Close to The 9 and 1UC as well. They weren’t lying when they said high end of the market rate. It’s a good sign for Cleveland, and a demonstration of what a lot of UO members have been telling us that the wealthy are returning to the city.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
The good news is no reputable economist is forecasting recession. The bad news is my ETF has had a rough week. This downturn just emphasizes how much our economy relies on the vitality of foreign markets.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
It was time. The comments are more times than not an ugly display that tend to give a negative perception of a city that is progressing. Is it me or did anyone else who read this feel like a 4th grader being shamed by the teacher because some classmates were goofing off?

Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
I think there’s plenty of room to accommodate residential growth downtown south of Lakeside and north of Route 2. Residential on the muni lot, if vertical, would be regulated by the FAA. Townhomes or a low rise would be plagued by noise pollution being just feet from a highway. An outlet mall makes sense. 3 million+ reside under an hour from the location, visitors are likely to spend time eating out or visiting attractions in the city and there would be hundreds of jobs created.

Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
I think @lafont and @mrnyc both make good points. I’m weighing the pros and cons and am coming around on this project, I don’t know what else the muni lot could be developed into. I wish Top Golf would of chosen that site but not sure it could of worked there.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Lumen
Almost thought I was looking at the rendering lol. I love this building, especially the subtle overhangs and angles. Really sharp.

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
I think it’s not so much the aesthetics you’ll see on the exterior as it is the panoramic view it’ll offer from inside.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Seems right, but I could see the incentives being finalized within a few months and plans being finalized by summer’s end. I would think that would put us in the ballpark for a Q4 ground breaking (I could be wrong but just the impression I’ve been under). I don’t see the build being very tall which should help drive down cost.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
“More importantly, the company said it was committed to building a new headquarters on Public Square. That building is expected to be completed by 2025.“ Did I miss something? I thought the plan was for S-W to be in the new HQ before the end of 2023.
