Cleveland: Ohio City: Church+State (West 29th & Detroit Ave)
I tend to like the design, but can see why people would not. I think once built people will find angles that are more attractive than others. I’m sure we can all agree it certainly is not cookie cutter.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I think it has something to do with the Terminal Tower residences. My guess is to raise HVAC equipment but not 100% certain. I doubt it’ll be there for more than a day or two but they’re always fun to look at.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
The things that are debated when development news winds are calm. Still 100x more palatable than the Cleveland.com trolls who overran the Jacobs Public Square thread.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I feel they sort of have to do their due diligence, how else could they maximize the incentives they receive? However, it still is a reason for concern. I emailed Dan Brady, Jack Schron, Kevin Kelley and Kerry McCormack. Is there even a point to emailing asleep at the wheel Frank?

Cleveland: Microgrid
Very interesting, thank you for starting this thread. I’m curious though as to why the micro grid would not expand west of the river, incorporating at least to west 25th and north of Columbus would make sense, no? I imagine the micro grid itself would create several well paying jobs. Apologies if that’s discussed in the linked articles, I’m a little pressed for time at this moment.

Kudos to the committee for not only pushing back, but for giving the scathing feedback that this proposal deserved.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
That’s a good point I wasn’t thinking about. However, if nuCLEus leases like the Beacon is preleasing (we know it’s already doing well for retail and commercial), then a future phase probably isn’t that far fetched.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
I’m torn. I don’t want to add surface parking by any stretch, but if demo paves the way for future development I’m all in. Yes the Herald building has some history, but how long has it sat vacant? In it’s current state it’s an eyesore. I’m guessing the ends don’t justify the means when it comes to renovating it.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
Sure, if the deal is sweet enough. Can we throw in Lakewood ?

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Not that it has to do with development, but I think people have a hard time associating development in neighborhoods that aren’t viewed as positively as UC. A really interesting drive, south on E 105 from Superior to Quincy and you’ll see some of the most affluent and most depressed areas big city USA has to offer, all within a little more than a mile.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
I was liking the rendering but now am loving reality. It’s very distinct, it really pops.. especially when viewed on I-90E on the Innerbelt. For being 355 feet it punches above it’s height.

I think with the way things are trending we could see the Ferrari Tower plans dusted off in the 2020’s.

Also my hope is Dr. Mihaljevic saw your suggestion to consolidate administrative Clinic employees in a new shiny downtown skyscraper ?

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
As one guy having a beer talking to another (don’t know if you’ve had beer.. I had a couple. Great Lakes Moscow Mule Ale I give a 5 out of 10. It’s good but they’ve done better)... do we really want a heavy retail presence at Tower City? If it lines the street front sure, but as a west sider I’ve learned a lot by watching the Great Northern model vs the Westgate model.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
That’s great news! Curious how many preleased are not currently living in downtown or Cleveland proper. Hope it casts a wide net attracting new residents. Anyone pick the Stark rep’s brain regarding NuCLEus?

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Pixar execs made a visit to Cleveland (not unannounced) interested in a collaboration with Playhouse Square. Folks at city hall were woefully unprepared and kept them in standby mode when the execs showed up to meet. Pixar execs left the city after not meeting with anyone. Feel free to quote me in another thread for further discussion. Don’t want this getting too far off the rails. I will say if nuCLEus does not happen it’ll be the furthest along proposal for Cleveland to fall through that I’m aware of. I’m torn between that logic and that even North Point Tower was scaled back from 500 feet to 285 in the early 80’s. On the same token I’m feeling like Stark’s line of bull is the same as Gilbert pitching casino phase 2.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
I find too often I hold the city accountable in pushing back on private development. I’ll never forget what I heard about Pixar and their visit with Frank Jackson. However, this feels way too much like a developer having their hand out. I’m ok with this never breaking ground if government has to bend any further backward for Stark.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Well if there was any doubt.. I’m sure places like Sherwin-Williams are taking note. A little disappointing Akron has been unable to capture some trickle off of Cleveland’s success (at least to this point). https://www.crainscleveland.com/government/jobs-moving-places-downtown-cleveland-university-circle

Probably only a matter of time before UO shuts this thread down the way they did Tower City’s. This feels like “the decision”? Come on now..
