  1. I’m sure I speak for many of us... every time there’s a new post on this thread and I see the original, hyper-excited “AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!” header, I die a little bit inside. But as the eternal optimist, I imagine Stark might be more determined than ever to get something built there after this latest, very public setback. Whatever your opinion, folks like him don’t mind adversity, and indeed often thrive on it. If that’s the case for Stark, he’s got plenty of fuel. Onward!
  2. Litt piece from this morning.
  3. Beautiful! It’s funny- our perception of the glacial pace of projects here in town, endless delays, snags, etc. And then “suddenly” transformative projects like this erupt out of the ground and become reality. Bring on the second phase!
  4. Looks great (apart from the sky bridges). The peaks almost suggest two angled paint brushes... but that might just be my own residual brain damage from grueling commercial painting jobs in my early 20s. 😆
  5. Exactly. ^^ And an orchard? Sounds like Terdolph Park 2.0.
  6. Such paranoia. It seems a bit... excessive.
  7. I was as well, and it looks like it will likely stand taller still!
  8. Artisan crane action from across the lagoon this afternoon...
  9. Excellent news! I drove down into the valley via Old Lorain last weekend for the first time in years. I was alarmed not only by the condition of the road itself (some seriously harrowing pot holes), but by the extremely unsafe conditions for bikers and pedestrians. It would be wonderful if they eventually expanded the scope of this plan to include other access points nearby (Hogsback, Wooster, Puritas, etc.).
  10. Just popped in on my lunchtime walk. The space is completely transformed from Constantino’s- in a very positive way. The layout feels open, tidy and bright. It gives the effect that the store is twice as big, with just as much, if not more variety and selection of goods. There’s a full service gourmet coffee station and small dine-in area in the front of the store, as well as increased patio seating. They’re doing GrubHub advance ordering option for prepared foods. I’m looking forward to trying their breakfast, lunch and coffee offerings!
  11. On a selfish level, I’m still a little bummed that my pristine view of TT has been obstructed. But overall I think this project is such a net win for the Heights!
  12. View from my apartment window this morning from just east up Cedar Hill. New crane up on the Top of the Hill site. Geeks, is this a true tower crane? Very cool regardless!
  13. Very exciting. My only reservation is that one of the buildings to be demolished is the Vietnamese market. That little market is sorta cool in its own right. But isn’t it completely ajoined to Minh Anh restaurant? I’ve had many a delicious meal in that cozy spot. I’m an east sider now and don’t get over there as much, but I assume it’s still open. It’d hurt a little bit losing a long-running staple that’s been something of an anchor on that desolate stretch of Detroit for so many years.
  14. I’m sure this was already posted elsewhere before this thread was launched, but fwiw, here’s Michelle’s article from yesterday. I’m beyond excited about this relocation, and tangential development! How likely sre they to receive the aid they require? https://www.crainscleveland.com/
  15. “Also, if you want a good laugh, check out the reaction on the Facebook "Cleveland - Our Architectural Legacy" group to this article. Yikes. (That said, that group is a great join for wonderful Cleveland pictures.)” This. Just had the pleasure of stumbling upon that group’s comment thread. I’ve noticed a pattern of overwhelmingly negative reactions to just about all new construction on their page, but this one is viscerally beyond the pale. I take that as a sign that the designers got it right! ?
  16. If an RFP has already been issued, why does it seem like no substantive proposals have been received yet? The article states that Carnegie backed out of “discussions” and that MRN says it’s too soon to say how they might approach the project. I’m new to this development world, but don’t these proposals include any general design intentions/plans? Also, are there no past performance or technical evaluation or other trade-off factors involved to keep firms from (under)bidding solely on price? Just wondering the basis on which RTA ranked offerers so that MRN was clearly the number 2 choice. Interesting. I need to research more on how this might work!
  17. Top of the Hill activity proceeding full bore... the gateway to the Heights will be utterly transformed in no time!
  18. Farewell to two large ugly houses on Cornell as site prep continues for the Panzica project.
  19. In 2007 I was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight coming out of the plaza’s Subway. This all feels like such closure. Good riddance! ?
  20. Wow! I noticed the huge plume of black smoke from the window of my top floor apartment all the way over on Cedar Hill!
  21. Ha! I aint no pic poacher! ?
  22. Ichabod at lowered mast, moments ago...
  23. I think this might answer your question @sfbob?
