Ohio: General Business & Economic News
Why do people keep bashing this and dumping on Ohio? We were the #1 state for corporate investment per capita last year: https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/articles/2021-03-01/texas-ohio-top-rankings-for-business-friendly-states-per-new-report. Anybody on this forum is well aware that there are things going on all around the state. And much to this forum's displeasure, we are well aware that companies love saving money by building a smaller building on cheap land. Am I missing something? It seems to be working.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
TH3BUDDHA replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionDon't get me wrong, this is amazing. But, this line from the article caught my eye and brought up thoughts that I've had about the Short North for a while now: "Reigelman says the piece memorializes High Street’s position as a maker hub." Is High Street still a maker hub? Can makers actually afford to be on High St anymore, especially in the "Art and Soul" of Columbus in the Short North? I think most of the artists and makers moved to other neighborhoods years ago at this point. I think we need to just accept that the Short North "Arts District" has really become the Short North "Entertainment District" and pass the art baton on to the new neighborhoods truly doing art. Gallery Hop is just a bar crawl at this point, but Franklinton Fridays has a pretty cool feel. Obviously this is just my opinion. Curious to hear others.

We have a lot of rainy days between now and July 3rd. Wonder if that will affect them getting the final finishing done before then. The smokestack still needs a lot of work, too, if they planned on having that available for the first match.

Columbus: Children's Hospital Projects
TH3BUDDHA replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt's interesting because this rendering still has the old version of the currently under construction research building where it is a curved and set back from Livingston. But, the other image in the article has the rectangular building flush with Livingston that is actually being built. It's number 2 in the rendering below.

Yea, other than the guy's bad narration voice, he does a really good job of explaining how it works. Crazy how the top is only supported by the jack for a short time and it isn't able to support anything other than the vertical forces. So, any twisting of the top or it not being in absolute perfect balance during the jacking process can cause it to tip.

So, the club gets one of the better sponsorship payouts in MLS and there's another chance for a high growth tech company in the region. Locals should absolutely be excited about this.

In Lower's most recent post on the company Instagram account, even they refer to the field as just #LowerField. I would imagine that's what everybody will end up calling it and the .com will just be in the logo for branding. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQKD29NDubB/?utm_medium=copy_link

I think this is an important thing to point out to all of the people whining about the name. Some of the bigger, more well known brands probably weren't willing to put up the kind of money Lower did because they don't have to for brand recognition. Lower knew this was a one time opportunity to get their brand out there and they were willing to pay for it. I really think it will pay off for them because they seem to have a good business and were already growing quickly even before this.

I found a video on the process. You're right about how it happens. Also, according to the video, the process is actually pretty dangerous to complete.

Has there been anymore movement on the TMUD tax credit thing? I assume that would play a role in helping this happen.

I thought this was lame at first. But, this is a local, growing tech company with a nice, modern logo and a good looking website. I can't wait to see what their logo looks like on the roof. They outbid 4 other companies to grow their brand and it's already paying off as nobody had heard of them until this.

I don't know the answer to your question, but it looks like it recently became unavailable for lease on Loopnet. Hopefully, it's one of the new fast food chains that is expanding here, like Bojangles.- Newark: Developments and News

Took a little detour during lunch. I took a picture of the crane being built while driving west on Broad. The picture shows that Gravity 2 is really going to stand out when driving down Broad. Add in future Peninsula work and it will really feel like an extension of downtown.- Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
TH3BUDDHA replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionInterestingly, an article today on CU about the 70/71 project mentions the caps: "Bedanes said that the next new segment of the project – Phase 4B – will likely begin in the spring of 2023 and will overlap with the work around Front Street. That phase involves replacing the South High Street, South Third Street and South Fourth Street bridges. Each of those bridges will be widened, with pedestrian amenities added, and the High and Third Street bridges will be built with caps on both sides of the roadway that will have the capacity to hold buildings." https://www.columbusunderground.com/i-70-71-split-project-moving-forward-front-street-bridge-to-be-replaced-bw1- Columbus: Short North Developments and News
