  1. First Merchants Bank, Northwestern Mutual among first Arlington Gateway tenants A trio of companies bringing nearly 400 jobs will anchor the $100 million Arlington Gateway project set to open in the coming years on Lane Avenue. Newmark Knight Frank announced the first three tenants at the project, which are taking 73,392 square feet of the Upper Arlington development’s 134,396 square feet of Class A office space. It is expected to open in August 2023. More: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/05/27/first-merchants-bank-northwest-mutural-among-firs.html
  2. What is the proposed railroad bridge park? I think I missed that.
  3. I wonder if it was because they were looking at it through 2010 lenses. What was over there to bother getting to at the time? Looking at the 2010 strategic plan, it looks like they envisioned a cultural district around COSI with other cultural institutions being built where the current development is happening. So, the point of the bridge was getting people right to Veterans Memorial and COSI. It also mentions that they planned on the Peninsula being a catalyst for development in Franklinton. Maybe they weren't fully confident that would actually happen. Turns out it was actually the success of Franklinton that may have finally got the Peninsula rolling. I would hope that a more modern plan would consider a bridge west of the railroad bridge.
  4. The first one fits in downtown by far the best. It even looks similar to the Main St bridge IMO
  5. Hopefully this along with the Crew Stadium opening will bring some life back to this area. The rise of the Short North has not been great for the Arena District.
  6. It's crazy how much things have picked up recently.
  7. So, we'll have this, the new medical tower crane, Gravity 2 crane, and the new surprise Scioto Peninsula crane all going up soon/recently. I was driving home from the gym on 315 this morning and they were constructing the new crane for the medical tower.
  8. Some movement for the Wexner Medical Center East Hospital: Ohio State's Wexner Medical projects continued record growth despite tower expense Meanwhile, plans are stirring for the next big project: Trustees are being asked to approve the purchase of one block of Hughes Street from the city of Columbus, immediately west of OSU East Hospital. That would provide the acreage needed for a replacement hospital there, too. Officials years ago said East's distinctive round 16-story tower, dating to 1971, eventually will have to come down. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/05/19/ohio-state-wexner-medical-projects-record-revenue.html
  9. There are some infrastructure improvements coming to that area for the Chipotle HQ, AC Hotel, and Market Tower. Burying the power lines will probably be included, right?
  10. Honestly, my favorite part if Otherworld is the live dj sets. I've never actually gone to just walk around. Definitely seems like it could be underwhelming for that. That will probably change with this massive expansion, though.
  11. I'm not sure, but something like this may have been the case. There have been workers since I posted about it like a month ago, but the building just now came down this week. Every time I drove by on my way home, there were workers on lifts working on the front of the building. I didn't know what they were doing. Not sure why they would have put so much work into something that was just going to be knocked down, but maybe there's just a lot of prep work that I'm not aware of.
  12. Big chunk of this came down this week. Tried grabbing a picture driving by on my way home. This was the best I got.
  13. Considering Browns fans' loyalty to the product that has been on the field for the last 20 years(until now), I'm not sure there's anything that could break their brand loyalty.
  14. A sports franchise is just a product and fans are just paying customers. As paying customers, they are just expressing their displeasure with the new product. Fans have no obligation to keep supporting this business anymore than a customer of McDonald's has to support a new sh*tty sandwich. Do you usually continue to pay for products you no longer like? THAT would be silly to me. Sure. But the paying customers also have the right to not buy that brand. Nobody thinks they own the team. They're just letting the business know that the new product stinks and they don't want to pay for it, which they have every right to do.
  15. Work has started at the corner of 4th and 5th.
  16. I could stomach the rename if it wasn't for the new sh*tty logo. It's horrible.

  19. Are those estimates coming out today?
  20. 21. With the recent $120 million Series B for Forge Biologics, this article talks about how Columbus is beginning to become a biotech hub. They even joke about Columbus becoming a "Silicon Valley" of biotech and ponder what to call it. The author suggests Plasmid Plains. What Forge's huge VC round means for growing Columbus biotech hub Last week, the Grove City biotech that just launched in July 2020 announced a $120 million venture capital round toward expanding its manufacturing capacity, for a cumulative $160 million to date. It's the largest Series B ever in Ohio, ... Meanwhile, Children's affiliate Andelyn Biosciences Inc. is building a $200 million genetic manufacturing facility to make viral vectors on Ohio State University's west campus Innovation District. ... Besides Andelyn in Central Ohio, Boston-area biotech Sarepta Therapeutics Inc. has established a Columbus R&D lab built around the staff of a Children's gene therapy spinout it acquired. And it appears more are on the way. Michael Triplett, who was CEO of the acquired Children's spinout, then led another hospital spinout in infection control. In December, he became CEO of a new gene therapy company in Columbus, Armatus Bio Inc. ... And all those Central Ohio research labs have a potential supplier right down Rt. 33: The recently acquired Stirling Ultracold in Athens makes the extremely low-temperature freezers needed for biomedical research. 22. Looks like the elevator core is now taller than Hilton 1. If not, it's very close.
  23. I think it's interesting that this isn't what this building looked like in any of the diagrams that were posted earlier in the thread. The diagrams show a curved building that is set back from Livingston. This is flush with the street and has great street presence.
  24. Has this moved back to a 2021 groundbreaking? Or is the timing of this application still in line with a 2022 groundbreaking? It just seems like we usually start seeing some activity on site not too long after engineering applications are filed. Maybe they were waiting for a TMUD credit but the delay in that program has made them to just go ahead and move on without it?
