  1. @ZyrokaiHere's your answer to Townhall
  2. I've never had the food, so I can't comment on it, personally. A lot of people were angry at them for non-food related issues several months ago. Some incident with an employee and some of their social media posts that people disagreed with. I know they had a ton of negative social media comments around that time and I would imagine that they got a lot of negative google reviews as a result. 99% of people that go to a restaurant and like it are not going to leave a google review, but somebody angry at the company will. So, I really don't think the reviews are an accurate representation of the quality of their food.
  3. It's still not open. Whenever anybody asks about it on their Instagram, they say that they still plan to open and will have details in the future.
  4. The pandemic has slowed the rate of bachelorette parties that fuel the Nashville economy.
  5. Ah. Yea, that makes a lot more sense. I thought he was talking about the picture I posted. Thought I was crazy.
  6. I'm actually not sure I see the A/C units you're talking about. Are you talking about the left side of the second picture right along the side of the convention center? If so, it might be tough to tell, but those are actually concrete podiums as part of the construction.
  7. We have an elevated porta potty. Things are getting real. Bonus pictures:
  8. Here's a little bit from a Columbus Business First article: Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle, in announcing its closing last month, cited "the small footprint of our leased location on East Whittier, as well as the outdated infrastructure we inherited from the previous tenant." The 1950 building there had been a carryover from a portfolio of stores that became Giant Eagles after Big Bear parent Penn Traffic declared bankruptcy. Article: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2020/09/02/pizzuti-shares-shumacher-place-giant-eagle-plan.html
  9. What I don't think a lot of people know is that Giant Eagle is ending their lease regardless of whether or not this gets built. So, any arguments about Giant Eagle are pointless. It's not like stopping this project will save it.
  10. Can somebody explain the Nashville hype to me? I really don't get it.
  11. I can't wait to read the meltdown comments on Facebook.
  12. I live in Schumacher now not too far from this. Walking around the neighborhood, there are TONS of signs against this project. People won't be happy about this.
  13. This is an entirely different discussion than Columbus intra-state vs inter-state migration and what high intra-state migration ultimately means for the future of the city. The different causes for migration to Columbus, whether from within the state or not, is a can of worms that I really don't think we should open.
  14. Well, my comment is mostly sarcastic, but a lot of people like to shoot down praises of Columbus' population growth due to it drawing heavily from within the state, something that isn't actually unique to Columbus, as @jonoh81pointed out.
  15. But, I've been led to believe that Columbus is the only city in the entire universe that draws heavily from it's own state and that this will lead to the eventual downfall of the city. /s
  16. That data is showing net migration between Cuyahoga County and other counties. So, that number means that is the amount of people that migrated to Lorain County from Cuyahoga County, not the amount of people that left Lorain County.
  17. Another Drive Capital unicorn: Another Columbus unicorn: Hospital AI bot Olive raises $226M, now valued at $1.5B Olive AI Inc. has reached a valuation of $1.5 billion with a $225.5 million venture capital round to take its pandemic-fueled growth into overdrive, the Columbus company announced Tuesday. ... Olive, which has not disclosed valuation before, is the second Columbus "unicorn" valued at more than $1 billion in the portfolio of Drive Capital LLC. Root Inc., the digital insurer that incubated in the Columbus VC firm's Short North office, was valued at $1.65 billion last year and at $7 billion in its October IPO. Article: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2020/12/01/olive-valued-15b-after-226m-round-for-ai-bot.html
  18. Slight chance, probably, but I wouldn't be completely surprised if the 2020 census number has Columbus close. As of July 1, 2019, the census estimate was 898,553. It wouldn't be surprising to see that number revised upwards. MORPC claims that the city surpassed 900,000 at some point in 2018 according to this release: https://www.morpc.org/news/new-estimates-show-central-ohio-to-reach-three-million-people-by-2050/ If not, I would imagine definitely in 2021. This all assumes that trends didn't suddenly change this year due to covid or something.
  19. Honda donation adds to Big Darby nature preserve Honda is donating 90 acres of land in the Big Darby Creek watershed. The Marysville-based manufacturer Monday announced the gift, valued at more than $280,000, to The Nature Conservancy. The land is in Logan County near the East Liberty Auto Plant and the Transportation Research Center. Article: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2020/12/01/honda-donation-adds-to-big-darby-nature-preserve.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_10&cx_artPos=0#cxrecs_s
  20. I was actually about to ask if there is potential that this doesn't fill back up and we could see redevelopment in the near future. With the northwest corridor study going on and talks of transit and dense development on Olentangy, I'm not sure how that gets done without this shopping complex being entirely redeveloped.
  21. It would be amazing if this thing leases out quickly before this first phase even finishes up so that they'll immediately have justification for starting the next phase with a lot more office space.
  22. Columbus Business First reported it, as well: Scioto Peninsula development lands Burgess & Niple Inc. as anchor tenant Engineering firm Burgess & Niple Inc. has signed a lease for 45,000 square feet in the new 240,000-square-foot speculative office building at The Peninsula development, which began construction this fall. The engineering and architecture company will occupy the space in April or May 2022. Burgess & Niple, the city's fourth-largest engineering firm, is today based near the Bethel Road corridor in northwest Columbus. But it opened its first office on East Broad Street a century ago, and Franklinton has been a focal point of work for the $75 million firm, which today counts 116 Central Ohio employees among a headcount of 335. We really need an updated version of this shot.
  24. Does Crocker Park come anywhere near Easton? I went there a decent amount growing up, but haven't been in a long time.
  25. Great news. It's gonna be a lot of fun watching the Innovation District area grow.
