  1. Do you guys really expect this area to become that unrecognizable over the next ten years? All of my excitement has been for the other hot areas of town. I hadn't considered this area getting a bit of a small boom over the next decade.
  2. Looks like Corso doesn't plan to redevelop the Montecristo site anymore. He talks about it at the end of this article about the new 3rd and High building and all of the other stuff he owns over there: Chris Corso on his latest Short North project: 'This is full circle for me' ... “That’s a lot of different restaurant and entertainment options there now,” Corso said. “It’s a real tourist destination.” He himself has at least one more project in the works in the area. Corso said he plans to convert the Montecristo House of Cigar into a new speakeasy-style bar. That property at one point was going to be another high-rise residential unit. “That’s just not in the cards anymore,” he said.   3. I honestly thought this building just currently looked like this because it was nowhere near finished. It's hideous.

  5. Even if they are hesitating because of this, I'm still not too concerned, yet. Once CoverMyMeds moves into their new office, I bet that many CoverMyMeds employees will look to lease here. Add in the Mount Carmel redevelopment and Scioto Peninsula, and there will be growing desirability in the area. Currently, it's just not a very attractive spot. It's kind of on an island separated from other amenities. I believe River and Rich has done just fine. They are over there closer to a lot of other amenities, though.
  6. I doubt that you'll get a response, but that's the worst that could happen by trying. So, nothing to lose, really. I toured the Gravity 1 apartments pre pandemic. At the time, they were running a 2 month free rent special that was supposed to expire. I just looked, and they are now running a 3 month free rent special. There are still a lot of available units and many that have never been leased. I imagine that's playing heavily into the delay along with the fact that the project includes office space that is in question during the pandemic. Maybe I'll head in to the leasing office again. The guy working was willing to talk about everything last time I was there. Maybe he has some insight on any delays, now, as well.
  7. Anytime I'm over that way with friends, I make sure to drive by the site to take a look. As of late last week, there was still no movement and absolutely no equipment on site.

    That's exactly what this is, though. So I'm not sure how he failed on his promise here. No revolutionary technology was ever promised to actually move those vehicles from A to B. It was just a contract to build a tunnel, put Teslas in it, and use basic technology to move those Teslas. This project DOES deliver on the "Tesla Tunnel" promise. This is the promise that may be broken. This is exactly what the first article posted is about. But, the limit isn't because of some failure to deliver some revolutionary technology, as everyone commenting here seems to believe. The failure on capacity is due to a fire code: "Fire regulations peg the occupant capacity in the load and unload zones of one of the Loop’s three stations at just 800 passengers an hour. If the other stations have similar limitations, the system might only be able to transport 1,200 people an hour — around a quarter of its promised capacity."

    I'm still confused by this thread right now and why this is in the Hyperloop thread. Did anybody read up on this when is was actually proposed? This was never meant to be revolutionary and was never meant to be hyperloop technology. This was always just a contract with the tunnel boring company to build a tunnel for cars. I get that everybody here seems to have a hard on for hating Musk, but this project is exactly what it was always going to be.

    I don't believe this was ever sold as anything else. This was always a vehicle mover. Not sure why this article is in the Hyperloop thread because it was never meant to be Hyperloop.

  12. Yea, that's pretty much the main reason I made my comment. The city is focusing on 5 corridors. Both of the north/south corridors are east and west of High St. The western one is Olentangy and east is Cleveland Ave. They want to densely develop those corridors. So I could see them becoming desirable and people being pushed to the less desirable, undeveloped Clintonville down the line. I have absolutely no idea if this is actually feasible and will happen. Just a thought.
  13. Linden is going to get developed as Columbus grows and Clintonville is going to become the new Linden 20 years from now because of the crappy buildings and lack of improvement.
  14. I think the dollar general property is currently being leased as a staging ground for the 3rd and High project. I may be wrong. If it is, I bet it will get a proposal pretty quickly after that's over. As far as the other site, isn't there some underground stuff that they have to deal with because it was an old gas station at some point? Probably why it's the last site to go. Similar to the crappy Stop n Go site on south campus that hasn't been developed and looks out of place. I could be wrong about both of those, but that's why I assumed they hadn't been developed yet.

  22. Some of the comments on Facebook on the Columbus Underground post about it are insane. Somebody talks about there being a housing shortage in Columbus and a GV resident responds by saying that a housing shortage means that the urban core is at capacity and we shouldn't be building this 300-400 unit density. What?
