  1. The last several times I've been to Goodale Park, the fountain has been off. I noticed several weeks ago that the cascading water along the side had stopped and it was just the elephant trunks shooting water. Then, a bit later the water out of the trunks was very weak. Now, it's off entirely. Is it already broken again?
  2. Columbus nursing school moving to Easton expansion Chamberlain University College of Nursing is relocating its Columbus campus to the new Easton expansion. Parent company Adtalem Global Education Inc. has signed a lease for 42,840 square feet of space at the 4111 Worth Ave. building, according to information from Colliers International. The school intends to be moved into the new space in time for the fall school year, which begins August 31. Final clearance from state, regional and national accreditation agencies is required. ... The newly constructed campus will be in the middle of the $500 million expansion of Easton Town Center, next to the new Aloft Hotel, RH Gallery and Forbidden Root brewpub. 3. I think the confusion is there because at the time that MORPC released this prediction, a lot of news sources that had an article about it said that central Ohio would grow by 1 million people by 2050 to reach 3 million. Given that, you would assume they mean the metro. Just seems that they all interpreted MORPC incorrectly.
  4. The original article that I was replying to mentioned data about Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, and Akron as well.
  5. Interesting, thanks. Any of you guys have any thoughts on the reason for the low year?
  6. This seems low. Hasn't the Columbus metro growth been closer to 30,000/yr recently? Also, with projections saying that we'll be at 3 million by 2050, it seems we'll need to be adding more than 18,000 a year.
  7. This is a different commission than the one that votes on the Victorian Village projects, no? Unless you're talking about another Kaufmann project that I'm unaware of.
  8. Thanks for the info! Amazing news.
  9. Do you guys think the Scioto Peninsula project will still move forward this summer? Was it far along enough in the process?
  10. Man, this seems like an eternity ago, now. Should we pretty much assume this project is dead for the time being?
  11. The 2021 class is going to be insane.
  12. I was viewing a new rental unit in Victorian Village recently. It was $1000/mo for a studio and was in pretty poor condition. I mentioned that I was looking at some units in some of the newer apartment complexes going up that were at a similar price point. The lady showing the house said that she was interested to see what the increase in those complexes, being newer and having access to amenities, would do to the market for some of these older units in areas like Victorian Village. I would imagine that a good chunk of people fighting these projects are landlords that have made a killing renting out these units without ever having to fix them up. Now people, myself included, are expecting higher quality because I can just move into a brand new 1 br in Gravity for a similar price.
  13. I drive by the site a lot. That's all underground parking. It's all currently dug out and being worked on.
  14. Absolutely. This walk was outside only and I made sure to keep my distance.
  15. Yea, I'd guess there is also a sizable amount of people that DO have access to those things that still end up requiring a visit from an enumerator.
  16. I mean, census workers going door to door is a major obvious problem, no?
  17. There was no celebration, but the bridge is open. I walked across it today.
  18. Is it possible that the appeals commission could approve one of the larger, earlier proposals if that happens?
  19. It seems like the developer does intend to take this to the appeals commission eventually. According to CBF, the GVC gets one more vote before that happens: Undeterred by commission rejection, German Village hotel developer vows to keep trying One day after the German Village Commission rejected his proposal for the McGown Hotel at 31-35 E. Livingston Ave., Casey said he isn't finished yet with the project, and intends to return to the commission to have the project voted on again. ... The developer is unlikely to succeed before the German Village Commission; its members voted 6-1 to block the variances needed for the development's 52-foot height, which they say is out of place for the neighborhood whose homes and small buildings average 29 to 35 feet in two and three stories. Casey has said the hotel isn't financially feasible at that size. A down-vote on Casey's next attempt to land commission approval would necessitate a move to the Board of Commission Appeals if the developer wants to move forward. "We’ve committed a great deal of resource and energy to a project we’re proud of, all we can do now is have faith in the process," Casey said. 20. I hope they build a 750 foot tower on the Giant Eagle site just outside of GV commission territory.
  21. Some Easton crane porn on a rainy day. Bonus rainbow(it went away before I could get a better angle).
  22. Well, at least there will be one GV resident in favor. According to the article:
  23. Wait, how do you know they mean that spot. When I put in 3871 Stelzer road in maps, the pin is right on Nordstrom, which is also not where they say it is lol.

I don't think anything. Like I said, I'm not trying to make any claim or prove you wrong. I was just commenting on the fact that you make demographic claims and back then back them up by saying you "feel" a certain way. This is a pretty data oriented forum where people like to discuss things about population trends, and if you make a claim about demographics, people are probably going to ask you to support it. I don't think that some game stores closing downtown supports "50 percent of millenials identify as nerds and nerds consume less alcohol and avoid downtown." So, I just don't think that means much to a conversation about millenial trends just like I didn't think "Cincinattians make their beds more than other cities" meant much to bed bug trends in cities because I definitely don't think there is anything to back that up. We'll just have to agree to disagree. I never really intended for this to be so serious and was mainly just making a joke.
