  1. That's West Franklinton. East Franklinton is already "going." Just wait until Gravity 2 and the next phase of River and Rich are done and it will going even more. And, I agree, West Franklinton has a long way to go. But, it's definitely going to "go." It will be unrecognizable in 20 years. There's too much planned and big money heading that way for it not to.
  2. Yep. East Franklinton is already booming and once CoverMyMeds moves into their HQ, I imagine it won't be long before West Franklinton is booming as well. Especially including the planned redevelopment of Mount Caramel and the old Graham Ford lot.
  3. Of course. As a fellow native of The Land and major Ohio booster, I'm super excited for this project. Can't wait for the announcement and renderings.
  4. The Sherwin Williams thread and getting locked. Name a more iconic duo.
  5. Yea, to be honest, I'm probably a little more excited in the long run for the buildings that end up between 670 and the stadium in Confluence Village. They'll be closer to the highway with White Castle right on the other side. It'll be nice to finally drive through there and have buildings right on both sides of you. Add Chipotle HQ, AC hotel, and the final phase of Jefferey Park and that drive is gonna be much better in a few years. Awesome time to be in Cbus.
  6. A brewery from Cleveland, Saucy Brew Works, is taking that space. They're adding on for some of the brew operations I believe.
  7. I hadn't really considered how tall Crew Stadium will be when it's done. Will there be a pretty big presence from 670?
  8. Can't wait for the first time I start to see this peak above High St level. It's one of those things I drive by like everyday living near Goodale Park. I feel the same about watching CoverMyMeds finally become visible from the highway(I commute to Dublin everyday for work). 1. It breaks up the boring drive and gives me something to look at. 2. It's cool seeing the physical presence as it rises above street level. Can't wait for that with the Hilton.
  9. I guess all those NE Ohioans moving to Cbus must have brought them along.
  10. The DGX is open now. Went inside and it's pretty nice.
  11. The redditor claims that it will open this year. No way Arlington Gateway could be finished that quickly, right?
  12. A redditor is claiming that a new Trader Joe's will be announced for Upper Arlington on Jan 24. Coming somewhere on Lane according to the redditor
  13. There was a news story on Yahoo recently talking about how well the Ohio economy is doing. The first line of the video was "When you think of Ohio, at least if you're an east coaster, you probably think of Ohio State football..." I thought that was interesting considering the amount of pro sports Ohio has. Also, Travel magazine recently had Columbus as one of the top 10 domestic travel locations for 2019 and mentioned the "legendary football team" among their many other food and drink recommendations. With the way modern college football is trending, the number of students attending Ohio State increasing every year, and alumni all over the country, I think the Ohio State sports brand will continue to get even bigger and more dominant. Definitely feels like a professional brand.
  14. Ok. Sorry. I'm not too familiar with the population releases. Does this mean we have a new number for the city of Columbus other than the 892,533 2018 estimate? Or do we need to wait until summer 2020 for that? I know MORPC has also been releasing their own estimates at the end of the year. They tend to be higher than what the census says. If their trend for their 2018 estimate continues(city reached 902,674 with an increase of 22,000), they'll probably have a number higher than 915,000 for 2019. Why are their numbers are so different? Do you think they're being way overly optimistic? Or, could we see a significant correction in the census numbers in 2020?
  15. Are these new numbers or just more detailed versions of the estimates that come out in the summer?
  16. While it's not great that the city had no idea that the building didn't match the approved designs, it's good to see that they actually launched an investigation due to the 311 complaint. Maybe they will pay more attention going forward.
  17. They haven't mentioned what the 3 story building will be have they? We could have something there, right?
  18. It looks like this is being proposed to the commission tomorrow: Proposal Calls for 11-Story Building Downtown A three-story office building would be renovated and an 11-story apartment building constructed on the surface parking lot behind it under a plan submitted to the Downtown Commission. The proposal calls for a total of 153 apartment units over a four-story, 206-space parking garage, in addition to about 30,000 square feet of renovated office space at 366 E. Broad St. The law firm Carlile Patchen and Murphy occupied the building for decades before putting it on the market last year, and is now planning a move to a new building that is nearing completion at Grandview Yard. 19. Coming here to comment because window replacement on the Hyatt was just brought up in the PNC tower renovations thread. Back in November, this tower crane appication was attributed to antenna replacement. But, a Columbus Business First article came out earlier this month and in that article, it makes a very quick mention that NRI plans a $20 million dollar renovation. At the time I read that article, I thought about this post and meant to comment here, but forgot. Could the tower crane actually be related to this? Here's the article: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/12/05/talking-tifs-columbus-citycouncil-holds-hearing.html The important line: Hyatt Regency: NRI, the majority owner of the hotel, plans a $20 million rooms renovation, a spokeswoman said.
  20. Is that something that would actually be considered? They're doing a $20 million room renovation soon.
  21. Hey, I'm with ya there. But, I see this as an absolute win. Increase in competition is a good problem to have and is forcing these buildings to improve. Shows how much is going on all over the area. Also, a bunch of downtown buildings are having tens of millions of dollars poured into them for renovations. To me, it seems like that means that downtown is looking like a solid investment moving forward.
  22. While I wish this was true, I think it's just similar to all of the other office buildings downtown that have been renovating. They need to adapt or die with all of the new class A office space coming online all over the metro. Columbus Business First ran an article about it a few months ago: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/08/23/downtown-ultimatum-upgrade-or-wither.html
