Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
I don't really know, I'm just saying what I saw in this article: https://www.columbusunderground.com/new-plan-northwest-corridor-bw1 OSU is really pushing hard to get a major company to anchor their Innovation District. We know Apple almost came here and ended up going to Austin. I bet transit along this corridor is something they're pushing hard for to get this done and set them apart. Has OSU historically cared much about transit in Columbus? That seems like it could be a major difference this time around if it hasn't been in the fight for transit previously.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Isn't this a little different this time? They already did the study and now they are choosing one of the 5 corridors studied to actually move forward with first. They hired an engineering firm to have something built out within 5 years. Considering OSU is heavily involved/interested, and this goes right through the new West Campus Innovation District, I actually have hope for once.

Isn't the Columbus metro adding near 30k people per year? Are these people really all coming from within Ohio? It doesn't seem possible.

Columbus: Fifth by Northwest (5xNW) Development and News
TH3BUDDHA replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIs this not a possibility? Why else would they have made it so awkwardly wide? These tracks would be perfect for a route. They go north right through OSU west campus and the future Innovation District along the Olentangy Transit corridor project that just got announced. They go right through Grandview Yard into the Arena District and split going either towards Franklinton or to the Convention Center and out to Easton/Airport.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
TH3BUDDHA replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionRev1 Ventures, Nationwide Children's genetic material production facility could move to Ohio State's planned Innovation District Rev1 Ventures and Nationwide Children's Hospital's manufacturing facility for genetic research could move to Ohio State University's west campus Innovation District, according to an Ohio Third Frontier report. Ohio State does not have signed agreements with either organization yet, a spokesman said, referring further questions to the hospital and Rev1. The five-story Rev1 facility would include offices and laboratories for startups, corporate innovation space and facilities for students, according to a Third Frontier report evaluating the Columbus entrepreneurial service provider's request for renewed funding from the bond-funded state program. ... Quantum's report, based on documentation and interviews with Rev1, said construction would start in 2020. There was no information on the projects' cost or how they would be financed. Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
TH3BUDDHA replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis article came out a few days ago. I found it interesting for a couple reasons. For one, the land is along Olentangy River Road and we now know that the city is getting serious about a transit corridor there based on recent news. Second, it mentions that $29.2 million for design and site preparation for the new hospital tower was up for approval, which was approved yesterday according to a different article. OSU Wexner Medical Center wants to buy Olentangy River Road site for $43M Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center wants to buy a leased outpatient medical building and the 7.5 acres it sits on for $43 million. Trustees for the health system and university this week will consider the request to exercise a purchase option. The medical center also is asking for the OK for more design work and preliminary construction for a future 840-bed main hospital tower and a massive outpatient complex on west campus. The OSU Eye and Ear Institute opened in 2009 on Gowdy Field, a long-abandoned landfill along Olentangy River Road. The five-story, 138,000-square-foot building has physician offices in multiple specialties and an outpatient surgery center. ... Also up for approval this week: $29.2 million for design and site preparation for the future hospital tower that will replace outdated inpatient sections of University Hospital's Rhodes and Doan halls. The full project cost and timeline are not yet determined. The design architect is Henningson Durham & Richardson, and the construction manager is a joint venture of Walsh Construction and Turner Construction. Yea, one comment was particularly frustrating. As soon as I saw it, I started furiously typing until I saw you had already replied. Here's the comment:

Columbus: General Transit Thread
I wonder if this also has anything to do with an increase in transplants from more urban areas. I was actually really excited after reading that article. I think this is the first time this has happened for me after reading a Columbus mass transit article. This time, it actually feels like something could happen. The main reason that I think I'm excited is that this corridor goes right through OSU's new innovation district plans. I think OSU is probably pushing really hard for this. I wonder if it's part of a larger plan to attract a large company to anchor that district(which would also explain wanting to have the transit built within 5 years), like it was rumored that Apple was supposed to do. OSU very much wants to keep alumni in Columbus after graduation. There are a lot of east coast students that go to Ohio State. This would be a good step in making Columbus more attractive to them.

Thread Closures / Locked Issues & Questions
I actually agree with you and I was trying to lead into this point, albeit poorly: I think the problem is less of a need to explain why the thread has been locked. Once it escalates to that point, it's pretty much clear why the thread is locked, the thread got extremely off topic. I wish they would do something to deter many of the toxic comments that many times lead to comments being removed and threads being locked. Yea, I'm very aware of that thread and was in the middle of it being locked down once for asking a simple question. I think you were actually involved in our discussion in the Capitol Square thread where we were discussing it. I'm a new member here, but have already experienced toxic comments and harassment multiple times. There appears to be a pattern and history of this coming from forumers from a particular region. It would nice to not have to deal with jabs from those users all the time. In fact, that thread got closed this most recent time because the users started throwing random jabs at Columbus. Once again, I didn't mean to seem like I was jumping on your post. I apologize for that.

Thread Closures / Locked Issues & Questions
Every single one of those potential explanations boils down to "thread has gotten off topic." It doesn't seem necessary to post the specific reason because if a thread is locked you can just assume that discussion was off topic from the thread title. Why does it matter what the specific off-topic discussion was about?

Columbus: Housing Market / Affordable Housing
New Residents Are Spending Big in Columbus The Ohio capital is the fastest-growing Midwestern city, pushing up real-estate prices and spurring major transformations of traditional neighborhoods and historic properties Susan McManus and Ashley Lawson were confident they would get a great deal on a big home when they decided to relocate back to the Midwest after five years in Southern California. It didn’t quite happen that way. After a year of searching in Columbus, Ohio, they upped their target price by $500,000. Still, it was another 17 months before the couple closed on a four-bedroom, five-bathroom home in the historical German Village neighborhood—for $1.5 million. To win their home, they had to put in an offer the day the property went on the market. ... More here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/good-buy-columbus-11573145397?mod=searchresults&page=1&pos=2
