  1. Yes. It will be a DGX. The article was updated because the real estate company reached out to comment. They must have immediately been concerned about the negative perception in that article and needed to drive the narrative a little differently. Based on the comment, it seems like they're just making sure to hide that dirty word, "dollar." Here's some from the update: Alex Marsh, vice president of real estate firm the Robert Weiler Company, called to clarify that while Dollar General is the parent company of the store that will occupy the first-floor retail space at Highpoint on Columbus Commons, the store itself will be branded under Dollar General’s DGX concept, which has been introduced in Nashville, Cleveland and elsewhere. ″[Dollar General] approached us. ... At first we were a little hesitant, but then we visited the Nashville store and saw how nice it was, and we made sure the word “Dollar” wasn’t used on the signage because we didn’t want it to appear to be a dollar store,” Marsh said. “It’ll all be under the DGX branding.”
  2. Dollar General coming to the Commons The city recently issued a building permit for a dollar store on the first floor of a Downtown luxury apartment complex More here: https://www.columbusalive.com/news/20191022/dollar-general-coming-to-commons
  3. Awesome drone footage of a runway event in the courtyard on top of the National Veterans Memorial and Museum
  4. Cool image from the Columbus subreddit this morning

  6. The rooftop bar opens today. First Look: Goodale Station Columbus’ newest rooftop bar and restaurant opens its doors today, Thursday, October 17. Goodale Station tops the recently-completed Canopy by Hilton at 77 E. Nationwide Blvd. Article here: https://www.columbusunderground.com/first-look-goodale-station-sp1
  7. Let's just start a campaign to get people in Columbus to eat way less fiber. We'll block the problem at the source and relieve our overloaded sewage infrastructure. Problem solved.
  8. Would they not try to acquire those lots next to the Spring St building before doing something? Wouldn't be such a tight plot then. Edit: Don't mind me. You literally said that in your comment. ?‍♂️
  9. Yea, that is crazy. Especially when considering this quote from the article:
  10. The city has seemed ripe for a boom in the past couple years. So, are you saying that we absolutely aren't going to see the exciting boom that we've been waiting for because of these issues?
  11. IS this a problem that's unique to Columbus? I would have a hard time believing we're the only ones dealing with these issues.
  12. Yea, I have no idea how they were able to be open so quickly. Somebody actually commented on the post asking "How are you guys open!?" All they replied with was, "Why not? See ya soon." So, not very helpful. I haven't driven by to see what it looks like.
  13. They made an Instagram post the next day saying they were open.
  14. Are cities like Austin experiencing these same issues? I've read in online threads that people in Austin actively fought against urbanisation for years, but I don't know how true that actually is. Are they experiencing these same kinds of infrastructure problems with their development as well?
  15. Has this "mini" Millenial Tower ever been brought up? It's on Elford's website. I've never heard anything about it. http://elfordrealty.com/property-search/?propertyId=416888-lease
  16. From what I'm gathering, it seems like the check cashing place and parking lot will be developed. Equitas will remain, but can't use the lot anymore.
  17. Based on that quote by @cityscapes, shouldn't we actually be seeing a proposal pretty soon for the check cashing place?
  18. I happened to be driving by last night and noticed that the equipment had been delivered. I can't satisfy your hunger for "erected crane porn." However, I can provide a slight bit of foreplay(mark another one up for the internet filter). Unlike @Pablo, I neglected safety and snapped a few blurry pictures of the equipment on site:
  19. Does Elford respond to questions about office space if you reach out to them?
  20. They actually took the entire office portion of that building according to this article: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/07/18/industry-titan-wework-taking-three-floors-46-000.html Industrious is another big one. They're in The Joseph and The Sutton. They're in a lot of cities and only Columbus in Ohio.
  21. What does this mean for WeWork in the Short North? WeWork halts all new lease agreements to stem losses The move will rattle commercial property owners across the globe who rented to WeWork, which often upgraded the spaces so the group could re-let the buildings to its own customers. ... The decision to put all new leases on ice comes as WeWork’s parent group, the We Company, readies to lay off thousands of its 12,000-plus employees in the coming weeks. 22. Were you happy with the original design? I preferred that design as well and I definitely agree that I'm not sure what the point of having the contest was if the final design looks nothing at all like the winning design.
  23. This is why people are firing back at you a bit. You aren't having a reasonable conversation about it. You're just responding to anybody that says "hmm I kinda like it" with "This project is horrible and you should also be disappointed! Columbus is doomed and I'm thinking about leaving!" rather than just saying "hmm that's a valid opinion, but I really wish the design would have been X." So what is your X, specifically?
