Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
I was reading in an article recently about the OSU campus framework 2.0 project. There is a long term goal there to get a direct connection from campus to Franklinton, so I can see something like this happening. OSU has been trying to get a big tech company to come here for a while and from what I hear, got really close with the Apple campus that just went to Austin. I would imagine this all part of a larger plan for a tech company to land in Franklinton and have a lot of OSU students going there. Not to mention, CoverMyMeds will already be there. Gonna be a very interesting next several years. I think we are finally entering the boom.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
TH3BUDDHA replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThat would make sense. SeeSaw is supposed to open on the 25th. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/07/19/new-short-north-restaurant-with-notable-backers.html I walk by it a lot and was surprised at how much still needed to be done when the 25th is pretty close.

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
Also, this week, they just added a huge sign on the north side of the Convention Center with a picture of it and advertising it opening in 2022.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
TH3BUDDHA replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYea, that would have been great if 670 was capped completely from High St. to the western edge of Goodale. I wonder if they'll ever consider it, especially now that those gravel lots in Arena District right there are finally being developed.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
TH3BUDDHA replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI think I phrased my question poorly. I didn’t just mean to develop those spots sticking out. I was wondering if they can completely cap off that open air over 670 behind Hyde Park starting at that spot that juts out, make it able to support a big structure, and after doing that, build a structure that encompasses the entire area of the red square I drew?

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
TH3BUDDHA replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYea, I know they can’t currently support anything. I was mainly wondering if they could do work to make it support a structure and actually completely cap off 670 behind Hyde Park and build a bigger structure behind Hyde Park over top 670.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
TH3BUDDHA replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIs it ever possible that we could see more development over top 670 in these areas around the cap? I've always thought there's a bit of a dead zone there with that weird seating area across from the church on goodale that juts out over the highway and you could just cover the highway there. There's also another weird spot that juts out west of park st across from Goodale that is next to that new hotel being built. Could they also expand the development of that last parking lot by the Convention Center out over 670 behind Bar 23? Is it prohibitively costly to do this in the near future or is this something that would even be considered?

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
Yea, what's to stop the from proposing some really cool looking building just to win the proposal? I'm assuming there must be more to it than this.

It also looks like that plaza will have retractable glass, so that there will be open "outdoor" seating in the winter as well, but I could be wrong about that. I like that many new developments, especially rooftop ones, are using this approach. Utilize the nice summer weather for outdoor open seating, but also have that same open outdoor feeling in the winter. Obviously, a huge complaint about northern cities is the winter cold. I like having options for this open outdoor feeling so you don't feel "holed up" all winter.

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
Yea, I know people were originally upset that the height had been reduced, but I've really grown to like this design and think it will be awesome. Can't wait!

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
Looks like they're moving forward with the 28 story version. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/07/11/new-shorter-175m-north-market-tower-plan-emerges.html?iana=hpmvp_colum_news_headline Construction to begin mid next year with a 2022 completion date. That means this will be going up at the same time as the new Hilton Tower, the new hotel on Park St, and the new Crew Stadium. Going to be exciting times over there!
