2024 US Senate Race
Not disagreeing with you overall, but there were 20 million illegals in 2000 when Bush 43 was in office and people in the know thought that number was low.. The latest number about 11 million has been stagnant now for years. The truth of the matter is a former border control officer who might know more about this than I estimated there are closer to 50 million illegals in the country going back decades.

What its the point of even having a Downtown Commission? If they approve this monstrosity, what would they turn down?

Say what you want about Columbus, but you would have to look pretty hard to find a city our size with more eye boggling freeways and innerchanges.

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
There's a 30+ story being built out of concrete here in Charlotte and looks like it goes up a story every week or 10 days, same as the Market Building.

Columbus: Random Development and News
John7165 replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis is awesome. Back in the 70's and 80's when most of the downtown towers were built. The national company Turner construction had so much business they opened a Columbus office and have been here ever since.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
I came across this Youtube video where this man talks about the 10 worst downtowns in America and yes our fair city of Columbus made his list. But it's not cheap shots and low blows. He has a reasonable theory as to why he puts us on the list. Take a gander if you will and what do you think? Columbus starts at 5:17

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
John7165 replied to cbussoccer's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI stumbled across this YouTube channel. and his last video upload shows the cold boxes and other super loads parked on site as well as that huge yellow crane being assembled. I hope he keeps up the drone flights because they show just how massive this project is.

Bexley: Developments and News
I lived in Bexley for around twenty years and I know how a lot of people think. When they hear affordable housing, they think Section 8. Most fair and honest minded people know when you bring Section 8 into an area, nothing good is going to happen for the existing residents. Sure it's good for the new tenants who get to live in a nice, well maintained area on the cheap, but to the people who made that area what it is, there's a lot of trepidation and concern about the future of of their neighborhood.

Columbus: Downtown: The Estrella / 199 E. Rich St
This is a little head scratching when there's a surface parking lot the same size directly southeast from this location that would be perfect for this type of development.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
John7165 replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis paper is suspiciously lacking in seating capacity detail for the proposed arena. Everyone agrees the old rink with around 1K seats was wholly inadequate while the cavernous Schottenstein Center was just massive. If you look at attendance numbers, the men's team averages around 5K for B1G games so it makes sense the new arena should be around the 5K mark as well.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
Not looking to pick a fight, but how can the city fairly pressure someone into selling their property? Are there developers trying to build downtown but they just can't find a lot because the owners refuse to sell?

John7165 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI know we've beat this horse until it's dead, but that building would really be something if it were another ten stories.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
Not that anyone cares what I think, but thus is incredibly disappointing. Edwards is a small time with even smaller vision developer who has taken some very valuable properties and has condemned them to mediocrity. I was hoping that area where the Dispatch used to be be would be a cluster of buildings the height of the Rhodes Tower and encircling the statehouse. I guess if you're one of those anything is better than nothing people, then this is your day. These building would have been fantastic further east towards the library, but not here.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
John7165 replied to cbussoccer's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI wonder if these "super loads" are going to be for both fabs or just one? Imagine how many of these loads will be required if eight fabs are built?

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
I've lived in Charlotte for close to twenty years and what has happened uptown (what they call downtown) has been amazing. You're right about it being sprawling, but they do have light rail and trollies which would make some on this site giddy beyond belief. Rush hour traffic on 77 and 485 make 270 a picnic.

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
They're building a 30+ story tower in Charlotte that will be all concrete. I haven't timed it, but it seems they add a new floor every week or week and a half.
