  1. "NEW ALBANY, Ohio (WCMH) — The Silicon Heartland, home to Intel’s Ohio One project, is slated to be finished in 2027." Are we to assume from this the first phase of fab construction is being pushed back from 2025 to 2027? If true, that sense of urgency conveyed at the Newark press conference has slowed down.
  2. ESPN says it's on FOX starting at 4pm Saturday.
  3. If by some long shot this does happen, I wonder if Ohio State would pull up their permanent field and replace it with a temporary turf that was easy to lay down for both the Browns and Buckeyes like MetLife does with the Giants and Jets.
  4. Man have I been out of the loop. What's happening with Brown's stadium for three years?
  5. I wish they would/could speed up construction on the new terminal already.
  6. Could you tell if any of them were in use?
  7. From these pictures it really looks like construction on this building is set to blast off.
  8. So what does this mean for Intel's plan for 8 fabs. Who will be the other companies, if any, in the new designated cluster?
  9. With five big cranes and a couple of smaller ones, did you see them lifting any materials?
  10. Five more data centers at 50 jobs per equals another 250 jobs for the NA area.
  11. I hate to be Hannah head scratcher, but when I see these pictures of the progress on the site, then match that up with Intel's stated goal to start producing chips in 2025, a little over two years away, and compare this photo to a completed fab and I just wonder how are they going to do it.
  12. Any idea when all of the road construction is supposed to be done?
  13. I wonder why they put that bump out in the road coming out of the round about instead of just making the road straight?
  14. Anybody else a little puzzled by the 30% designed number? What exactly does that mean? They still have 70% to design? Genzler has had almost a year and three quarters and they're only 30% done? Doesn't seem to be much urgency to get this done.
  15. LAX had to do that very thing when they didn't have enough room for the south runway so they tunneled Sepulveda Blvd and put one of the runways over it.
  16. Maybe it's an optical illusion, but for future growth, it looks like you could build an exact replica of the proposed terminal further down towards Hamilton to the east. You may have to tear down the Lane hangars, but so what?
  17. We've had two chances going the hub route and both failed. But I would like to see a focus city designation from one of our airlines. It's difficult to get enough passengers to warrant international and even some domestic routes relying solely on local traffic.
  18. I don't know how old you are, but if you can remember back to the 80's when the Fed turned LCK over to the county. LCK became a thriving cargo airport with all of the major carriers. The success was so profound, the county talked about constructing 5 more 11K runways spaced a mile apart to be infilled with warehouses, manufacturing, and factories or every sort. Jumbo's could fly in from around the world and pull right up to the building they were looking for. In addition, there was talk about moving CMH to the LCK site. The talk became so loud that the state cancelled a $1M dollar landscaping project to beautify the entrance to CMH. The thinking was why spend that much money on an airport that was going to move anyway. Those were grand plans, but they came to a crashing halt with a deep recession and most of the cargo carriers went out of business and the plans for moving CMH were put back on the shelf to collect dust. The moral of my story is if what you say is true about the civic leaders wanting a new location, it wouldn't be the first time those leaders thought about moving CMH.
  19. What does this mean? Is the final design set and now they're seeking construction costs from qualified companies?
  20. Wonder if this is tied in in some way to European cargo giant DHL's announcement of a massive expansion at CVG. I sure would love for LCK to get the bulk of the cargo in and out of this new facility to give them a needed boost. LCK has kind of been in the doldrums for a year now.
  21. Are they still holding to the original time frame for this? Because it looks like they're still years away from just completing the underground prep work
  22. If it weren't for Cbust Or Bust taking these almost weekly photos, we wouldn't have any idea what's going on at the intel project. This is the largest project in Ohio history and if it builds out the way Intel has hinted, it could be the largest and most costly project probably in American history. This radio silence on any information is baffling to say the least. I can understand not wanting to share trade secrets, but taking some pictures or video pouring concrete is hardly exclusive to Intel. Intels PR department really needs to step up their game.
  23. CRAA agenda minutes are out for May. it looks like the design for the new terminal is still in progress albeit at a turtles pace but have been shared with some local groups for input. No word on when the design will be released to the public (rats). Some of the timelines were a bit confusing at least to me but the next board meeting after May will be in June. Let's hope we get good news soon. In other news, passenger traffic is rebounding from covid and is approaching 2019 levels with the traffic count being in the mid 90's percent. CMH is planning for a large late spring and summer so maybe we can finally put 2019 in the rear view mirror and set a new record. The relocation of taxiway C will soon be starting so that's good news. Let's hope the terminal design is really breathtaking and something we can all be proud of for decades and make Columbus standout versus our peer cities.
