Hopefully they can open one closer to downtown in the future if it does well.

  3. I wish there was a way to offer support for this project for those who can't go in person to the session. Unless there is some online form of course (which I sure haven't seen). In my mind, it's the NIMBYs with nothing better to do going to these person events and criticizing the project while the YIMBY's who are busy can't go and offer a counter opinion. That's my nihilistic take though lol As someone who works on these kinds of projects I just wanna be able to tell to the developers directly: "please don't value-engineer the aesthetics and functionality of the project for a vocal few who oppose the project because they're gonna lose like two parking spots on Superior or not be able to hold a parade"
  4. I believe there was an accident on Route 2 next to the off ramp on to E 9th. Fire trucks from what I could tell, showed up on the googs maps.
  5. Gotcha, so if the region added 18,346 in labor force and lets say 5% of that is unemployed for simplicity's sake, then 17.5k of that is new employment? Not necessarily all new job creation, but also people in the area filling previously empty jobs is how I understand it...
  6. Thanks @LlamaLawyer! How does that equate to actual number of jobs in our MSA then? You gave an absolute number of jobs added for the entire state but then only a Cleveland growth percentage %. What percentage of the 100k was here...
  7. Dunno if this was already shared, but for any coffee connoisseurs out there... https://clevelandmagazine.com/food-drink/articles/yemeni-coffee-comes-to-cleveland-with-ebreeq-coffee-house Yemeni Coffee Comes to Cleveland with Ebreeq Coffee House Seems like a really cool and unique addition to downtown and will be an open late coffee hangout spot (sounds like good vibes) - hope they succeed!
  8. Touche. I met someone through a friend who works hybrid downtown and lives in Ohio City. They had no clue you could take the red line without having to drive. 🤯 It truly is gonna take a holistic approach to improving ridership though, because on the flip side for some people the barrier is in fact the feeling of safety and not necessarily the convenience.
  9. The freeze-funding-then-bring-it-back-saga continues. The plot thickens. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2025/02/129-million-federal-green-energy-grant-is-available-to-cuyahoga-county-again.html $129 million federal green energy grant is available to Cuyahoga County again The title is a slight misnomer from what I understand based on the amount - the full funding is available again, not just Cuyahoga County's portion
  10. Sry if it came off wrong haha! I agree but I just meant to shift the focus back to KJP's article was all 🤗
  11. Lil' progress update: https://www.cleveland.com/community/2025/02/two-new-tenants-signed-for-bell-tower-center-in-university-heights.html Two new tenants signed for Bell Tower Center in University Heights TL;DR Qdoba and Smoothie King have signed leases Parking garage peel back to be completed by the fall of 2025 Work is underway to renovate the building that will house the UrbanAir
  12. Good news out of this: "Forward Hospitality Group, the company behind Hi 5, Glamper and the two country-themed bars, isn’t going anywhere. Bobby Rutter, the group’s chief operating officer, said all four brands have long-term leases and will be part of the Flats for many years. “The auction doesn’t affect our businesses at all,” Rutter wrote in an email. At Welcome to the Farm and I Hate Cowboys, general manager Anthony Grace can’t wait for the seasonal thaw. Winter is slow in the Flats, but traffic picks up in mid-March with St. Patrick’s Day – and keeps climbing. On Friday and Saturday nights, there’s often a line out the door, hundreds of people deep."
  13. Here here. Maybe we can focus on the pros of the development instead.

  20. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/pro/cavs/2025/02/16/wnba-franchise-potentially-coming-to-cleveland-via-owner-dan-gilbert-rockers-caitlin-clark/78891807007/ From the Akron Beacon Journal: "Dan Gilbert and the Cavs are constructing the Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center, part of Gilbert and Bedrock's $3.5-billion Cuyahoga Riverfront Master Plan. The Cavs would operate out of and practice in that facility, while the Rockers would use the Cavs' current training center in Independence. Further updates would be expected from Gilbert to improve the Independence facility as well." I get the impression it's already a very nice facility that will only improve so I would caution people saying it's a "hand-me-down" (although I suppose technically, it is)

  22. https://www.crainscleveland.com/education/cleveland-area-colleges-report-steady-spring-enrollment Northeast Ohio colleges notch a crucial win in spring enrollment numbers I'll break this down on a uni-by-uni basis: TL;DR Case Western Reserve University No total enrollment given in article but 2024 TOT 12,475 ( 1.70% increase from 2023, from CWRU website) Cleveland State University 13,388 TOT (0.87% increase from 2024, 5% higher than 2025 budget projections which actually projected a decrease in enrollment) Kent State University 31,631 TOT (1.3% increase from 2024) University of Akron 13,923 TOT (no increase given) John Carroll University 2,596 TOT (2% increase from 2024) Baldwin Wallace University 2,739 UG (highest since 2019) Gannon University, Ursuline College 938 TOT (12.2% increase in graduate students from fall semester) Lake Erie College 1,180 TOT (28.82% increase from 2024) Long story short, numbers are flat or up across the board here which is a nice thing to see given the college climate, and CSU is outperforming expectations
  23. Ripped this from the article: I know the image of the skyline from Heritage Park is iconic, but can the media start using this shot instead of the outdated photos? Especially once the apartments are done and GLBC building is in there, this has to be one of the best "up and coming" shots of the city 🤑 Anyways, I'm curious to see what they do size-wise with the land between Carter and the river now that we know they don't expect to put a full production facility there - based on their old renderings I'm having a hard time picturing how they expected to fit all of that complex in there lol
  24. I was under the impression this area was doing well for itself. Pardon the language but wth happened?
  25. https://www.crainscleveland.com/politics-policy/cleveland-business-gains-support-according-gcp-survey Cleveland's business confidence climbs as more leaders promote the region Some interesting and (mostly) positive context for regional business perceptions The TL;DR is essentially this graph: And the easiest way to read this is: Promoters of the region have increased by 6% since 2022 Detractors of the region have decreased by 5% since 2022 Essentially a net 11-12% swing from detractors to the neutral/promoters categories Great to see the business momentum shifting. Now, it has to lead to job creation and economic growth.
