  1. And to build off of that: Hopefully this bodes well considering Cleveland is offering concrete plans for a purpose-built NWSL stadium.
  2. That's what I'm thinking too - if they're announcing this thing around the finals (which is this weekend), I feel like logistically they already had to have made the decision. But at the same time, why would Clark bother joining now if the bid isn't already picked? Confusing...
  3. https://www.essentiallysports.com/wnba-basketball-soccer-football-news-caitlin-clark-cincinnati-nwsl-bid-in-jeopardy-as-cleveland-groups-one-hundred-fifty-million-dollar-project-poses-threat/ Don't you just love the media: "Now, as Clark joins the bidding race for an NWSL expansion team, it seems her impact could extend to women’s soccer as well, only if Cleveland does not hinder Cincinnati dreams." I'm sure people will frame it any way to make Cleveland out to be the one stealing the team apparently Cincinnati deserves. Makes me sad.
  4. I think it might be that their first order was less and their target goal was 60 total over some period of time, but I could be mistaken
  5. From what I can tell RTA's RCRP website says that the fleet of 40 HRV and 34 LRV would be replaced with 60 LRV. However, if that doesn't factor in this additional 18 cars, that would be a new total of 78 LRV, an increase of 4 cars from the current fleet. Just a guess.
  6. Just imagine this but with all the Bedrock buildings on the left! From: https://www.bikecleveland.org/memorial-bridges-loop/
  7. The cool thing about diverting the green line north to Warrensville Circle and JCU is that Shaker could then tie-in/extend the Beachwood City Park-West from Green Rd to Richmond Rd all the way to the station at Warrensville! And the county is finishing up reconstructing that entire Warrensville Rd bridge over the tracks at Shaker at the moment. A new station there connecting to the bridge could also be cool.
  8. What ever happened to the Nautica/West Bank development?
  9. My thoughts exactly! This plus Irishtown Bend... staying optimistic 😃
  10. Is the High Line in NYC policed all day and do they face any issues with "unsafe activity"? Genuinely curious as I don't know. If done right I could see this turned into a High Line-type development that's open say 8-8, resurfaced deck and foliage.
  11. Also mods could we maybe change this thread name to "Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / The Riverfront"?
  12. That would be great! Were there ever plans/renderings shared for Phase 2 or was it just always a statement that it could happen? I tried looking up articles and info but wasn't successful. One UC was before my time here anyways 😅
  13. Is this a new sign, and if so I'm curious about the fine print... Image from @lwsedla in the SW thread:
  14. Great article @KJP! If you don't mind: the Cleveland MSA also includes Ashtabula Co. :)
  15. This kinda stuff gets pushback?! That actually infuriates me 😑
  16. I believe that update quote from the article is the 2015 update, as the article was originally published in 2014. I could be wrong though, but idk why they would make an update in 2024 using the date 2017.
  17. This could be a massive nothing burger but I was doing my annual "did IKEA announce a Cleveland store" deep dive and I happened to notice that the Cleve Scene article on IKEA Cleveland was updated 4 days ago, but the actual content of the article seemingly is not updated past 2015. Any insiders hear any rumblings recently? Once again I find myself clinging to hope lol...
  18. Funny enough it actually reminded me of the renderings of the hotel next to RMFH planned for The Riverfront
  19. ^IMO the former wins, but I feel like there is some nuance, at least with District 46. My feelings about the Haslam's aside, I don't take issue with the team investing in a mixed-use district like this in the suburbs - I feel like some Cleveland suburbs are lacking in development and could use these types of improvements in comparison to say many of the Columbus suburbs which are much newer and better-planned. I see projects like this as helping attract/keep new residents in the metro area who prefer that lifestyle. There is a strong argument for investing in both the central core of the region and also making the suburbs equally attractive (the holistic approach). The issue of course is when businesses poach from Cleveland to the suburbs which is what the Browns plan to do with the stadium - that I take issue with. To me this is a separate project as it is essentially an extension of their preexisting HQ/campus.
  20. Might be an unpopular opinion IDK, but I'd love to replace the old Cleveland skyline photo sans-SW from Heritage park we see on every sportscast game ever and replace it with THIS view once the apartments are complete, especially at night as @Willo described 🤩 ESPN I'm looking at YOU!
  21. Bombshell?! Destination Cleveland commissioned study that shows domed Browns stadium on Burke Lakefront Airport land https://www.cleveland.com/news/2024/10/destination-cleveland-commissioned-study-that-shows-domed-browns-stadium-on-burke-lakefront-airport-land.html
  22. ^^All of these "XXX city is on a shortlist"-type articles by local news agencies coming out just now is actually just the same list of five cities we've known for a long time. Cincinnati is probably panicking they'll lose out to Cleveland lol, at least that's what I've seen from people from Cincinnati online. God forbid Cleveland gets a professional soccer franchise for once. 🙄
  23. Yeah based on year-over-year census data I've seen from a Cleveland perspective, especially in the counties surrounding Cuyahoga, something about this doesn't seem right...
