Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
clevelandSky’s the limit for CommuteAir, Cleveland’s hometown airlineCommuteAir President and CEO Rick Hoefling said the company was exploring the possibility of adding regularly scheduled air service under its own name – including, perhaps, new routes from Clevelan... Not only has CommuteAir's new headquarters in Westlake opened, but there is an interesting segment in this cleveland.com article:

Cleveland: Population Trends
Here's a little graph visualizing the 2024 data estimates referenced in @KJP article. Ideally we want to see 1.00% or above for the MSA, but look how much the MSA average has improved growth rate-wise just since 2020. Cuyahoga now being in the positive is going to be a huge help to increasing population - an obvious statement I know, but it's worth repeating and this graph really exemplifies it lol Of course, who knows how the next 4 years and beyond will shake out, but it's good momentum to try and build on

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
Looking at it the other way I suppose, as long as new developments are being built in the plenty of available land surrounding downtown (especially east side), then that's still a win, as there's very much still a low density ring around downtown that needs filled to continue to increase the city's population/vibrancy. I just selfishly want shiny new apartments downtown lol

Cleveland: Downtown: Ten60 Bolivar Apartments
Can someone explain this please? (From the article) "With no other new construction planned following the city’s decision to water-down its residential tax-abatement policy for developmentally hot areas of the city, Ten60 Bolivar could be the last new-build offering for at least a few years" Why did the city do this, and why aren't developers proposing more new-builds in downtown regardless if downtown is considered one of the "hot areas"? The wording is somewhat negative. Does that mean all of the new residential momentum in downtown is gone?

Yes, Frontier and Spirit at A. A1 is the Air Canada gate I believe (at least that was what it was when I last flew AC two years ago) C4 i believe is the JetBlue gate, while the rest of the C gates listed above are all used by American. C8 and C10 might by United sometimes but I'm not entirely sure. Typically United just uses all of the "banjo" gates

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Not huge news, but I'll cross-post something I saw on the airliners.net CLE thread: https://www.clevelandairport.com/sites/default/files/4_1_2025_passenger_boarding_bridges_design_build_services_rfp.pdf CLE issued an RFP on April 1 for replacing several jet bridges in concourses A and C. Of note, the replacement bridge (bridges?) for gate A14 must be able to service all widebody planes up to the A350-1000

Brecksville: Valor Acres Development
https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/valor-acres-sets-tone-future-developments As Valor Acres rises, it's setting the bar for future developments Site in Brecksville is quickly becoming one of the hottest real estate sites in Northeast Ohio Having a positive effect on the entire Northeast Ohio commercial real estate market, developers and brokers say, proves there is still high demand for office space Expected to open this year are the restaurants Flour (Italian) and Masu (Sushi) All single family homes in the development have fetched $600k+ and all have sold - more are on the way DiGeronimo isn't done with Valor Acres; it’s still got to build more office buildings, finish a huge parking deck, add more homes and create more retail space

Is there a reason Ashtabula Co is missing from the data/analysis? That's part of the MSA as well...

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
We were referring to an Amtrak line that continues on to Pittsburgh though, and most likely Toledo/Detroit on the other end. If it doesn't continue on to anywhere else, they sure - go commuter.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Totally agree - I was looking at open rail and the diversion between Cleveland and Columbus would be severe. A connection from Cleveland to Pittsburgh going through Akron makes a lot more sense also from a regionalism perspective given the closer ties between NEO and Western PA geographically, culturally, and economically. The wording of the article is what made me think Akron was potentially back on the table for 3C+D. I'd be fine if it was included on the other Cleveland route instead. I just want it included regardless haha

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
@Boomerang_Brian ! Does this mean Akron/Canton will be considered again for 3C+D? As someone who's family lives in the district, I'm glad Emilia Sykes is advocating and speaking out about this and grilling the director. I always thought it was a little shady they ruled out the Akron/Canton area while the comparable metro area Dayton was able to get a proposed service. clevelandU.S. Rep. Emilia Sykes pushes for Amtrak stop in Akron or...Sykes questioned Ohio Rail Development Commission on exclusion of her district from proposed Amtrak line."Dietrich - who appeared before the committee to discuss ways to streamline federal railroad grants - told her that planners in Ohio looked at a route through Akron years ago, but it was ruled out. He said it would be reevaluated as plans for the so-called “3C&D” corridor move forward."

Richmond Heights: Belle Oaks (Richmond Town Square Redevelopment)
I'm sry I keep asking for these things lol but if I could do it, I would! Any chance we can change the title of this thread to "Richmond Heights: Belle Oaks" instead of just "redevelopment"? Thanks mods for all you do ❤️ Here's a new article from cleveland.com with extensive interview coverage and quotes from the developers, including the timeline of the project. Two things that stood out to me: They've purchased the wooded area across Richmond Rd between Hilary Ln and Geraldine Ave for recreational trails and will not cut down any trees to do so. They will apparently be aiming to open one new building open every other month after until completion after the first two open in 2026, which is quite impressive. Sounds like now with the Meijer open and already completely packed, things will start moving at a quick clip! Bring on the 800 apartments!!! clevelandBig day at Belle Oaks: Meijer opens, ground broken on two...The Belle Oaks development at Richmond and Wilson Mills roads was a busy place Thursday as the Meijer store held its opening, a ceremonial groundbreaking was held for the first two apartment buildi...

https://www.crainscleveland.com/sports-recreation/verizon-sponsors-tennis-land-tournament-cleveland Tennis in the Land gains Verizon as top partner; ticket sales outpacing 2024 Last year’s tournament featured near-sellouts for the last three sessions (quarterfinals through finals) and saw record concessions and merchandise sales over the same stretch. Tickets for this year’s tournament went on sale on April 8 and sales are outpacing last year in “basically every metric,” Ross said. The hospitality sections on the baselines are nearly sold out. Sounds like we need to start investing in a larger-profile tournament (with frankly a better name, how about Cleveland Open) 🤔

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Pardon the crude drawing but I imagine it'll be something like this EDIT: Ignore my drawing, the website has an animation of the phasing lol What's cool now is that the orientation of the new headhouse allows for almost any new concourse configuration to be slapped on the back of it without having to worry too much about the existing concourses!

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Not sure about the RTA station exactly, they just said "new station". Would need to see a new master plan aerial view of the complex. No new concourses are part of Phase 1 is the impression I got. They said they will be evaluating those next, I'm assuming as Phase 1 kicks off. Doing all Landside first in Phase 1 then moving to all Airside in Phase 2 makes a lot more sense to me from a phasing and complete-ability perspective. Glad Francis acknowledged in the presentation that the old "PAL" master plan was unrealistic in this day and age and that that formula would've lead to continuous disruptions and lack of a cohesive vision, if not an uncompleted vision as a whole. Kudos!
