Restaurant to be opening at 3915 Carnegie Ave? Gihad Zayed, owner of Speedy's Grub Shack (a Lakewood restaurant in a gas station with overwhelmingly positive reviews) has filed a building permit for use of the property. Especially awesome news considering there aren't many options outside of big chain restaurants (mcdonalds, subway) in this part of midtown https://ca.permitcleveland.org/public/Cap/CapDetail.aspx?Module=BuildingHousing&TabName=BuildingHousing&capID1=19BHO&capID2=00000&capID3=20215&agencyCode=COC&IsToShowInspection=

For as much as NRP builds and for as much as I love them for doing that, they aren't exactly the best when it comes to urbanist design. From what I've seen, it only works out well when someone else behind the development pushes them towards urbanism. Look at the original Scranton Peninsula plan to see how bad they are at it. And then look at Slavic Village Gateway, the difference being that University Settlement and SVD specifically pushed for urbanism.

New construction building permits filed today for new buildings on the East side of W 73rd! There's a 36k sq ft building and a 55k sq ft building. The development also includes a "clubhouse" which I believe is part of the second building. Here's hoping we get to see some site plans and renderings soon.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Building permits were filed for 5400 Detroit (AKA Saigon Plaza) where Hawken School planned on building an early-childhood center before they sold it earlier this year. The owners who are rehabbing it are purportedly a group of local investors, but they would not publicize their plan when they purchased it. Architect responsible is Dimit Architects. Anyone have any more info on what they're going to be doing with this historic building?

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Sorry I forgot to post this last week: Building permits were filed for the next phase of the Cedar Transformation Plan (Sankofa Village). For phases 1 and 2, 60 apartment units and then 50 townhomes were built. The original plan called for 377 total units between apartments and townhomes once all phases are finished. Original rendering showing all phases: The next phase will be just west of the last phase on Community College Ave, and again will be developed by Pennrose. The permit specifies the new structure will be 77,198 sq ft. Anyone have any more info on this?
