Cleveland: CrossCountry Mortgage New HQ
It's a pretty large commitment to build your own office space along with apartments for employees/execs on site rather than just lease some office space, so I doubt they have any plans of outsourcing or selling anytime soon. And absolute worst case scenario, they'll be leaving behind apartments and office space for a new user where today sits empty, decaying buildings.

If they're willing to do parking in a garage 1020 Bolivar is still on the market apparently and comes with plenty of spaces: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1020-Bolivar-Rd-Cleveland-OH/16575974/

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I'm wondering if they gave up on buying the parcel from Bobby and decided to work with him. Or maybe this proposal is him trying to convince them to do that.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Bobby George apparently wants to put in a "Wellness Facility" with coworking space and a juice bar. Note that the floorplan is dated 4/102019 and renderings are dated 3/8/2020. But this was just uploaded as an attachment to a permit on 6/7/2021.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Finally got around to watching the planning commission recording from Friday. It was mentioned that Columbus Peninsula currently has several proposals in the design phase that would convert existing structures to residential. There are also apparently "a few projects" considering new construction residential or mixed-use.

Cleveland: Ohio City: INTRO (Market Square / Harbor Bay Development)
Here's a restaurant floor plan for anyone interested: A bit disappointed since this makes it look like one of the pedestrian underpasses is gone but more excited for everything else about this. The second floor at the corner will also be part of the restaurant.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Nice to finally see some more detailed renderings of this one. I'm also loving all of the brick we've been seeing incorporated into recent projects.

Cleveland: Little Italy: Development and News
At Landmarks Commission earlier today: 1934 E 123rd St. Demolition of a single family home to be replaced by 5 townhomes. The existing home is in pretty bad condition with a lot of alterations over time, so not too big of a loss for the neighborhood. No vote today, just feedback to improve the project and come back later.

Shaker Heights: Van Aken District Transit Oriented Development
It's nice to see all of the letters of support from business owners, new residents, and longtime residents alike. Seems to be a couple critiques of the height and design, but the rest of the public input is overwhelmingly in support.

Cleveland: Hough: Development and News
Not too huge of a project, but a Victorian mansion in Hough (1856 E 89th St) is being fully restored and repurposed into 8 apartments. Units will become available June 1st. Neighboring 1848 E 89th is also being turned into apartments though I'm not sure of any details about that one. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1856-E-89th-St-Cleveland-OH-44106/2102817161_zpid/

Cleveland: Glenville: Development and News
Proposed zoning changes makes it look like we can anticipate a lot more development in southern Glenville. A lot more multifamily and retail zoning plus a lot more urban form overlay. I wonder what Knez is planning and who else may be involved with unannounced plans here.

Cleveland: Ohio City: INTRO (Market Square / Harbor Bay Development)
I was checking the listing online and saw the retail site plan had been recently updated. AT&T is new. And the restaurant space is much bigger with an announcement coming soon. I'm a bit confused though about how the restaurant is taking up space where the first floor walkway through the building was...

Shaker Heights: Van Aken District Transit Oriented Development
New owner of the square seems extremely likely at this point. Though that's aside the point of this. That building proposal in the image is on separately owned land.

You might see that happen soon enough.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
The permit only included this, but this is part of the printing building. I'd heard the longhouses were supposed to be going forward soon. Anyone have a clue about that?

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Chef Douglas Katz's Indian ghost kitchen, Amba, is going to become an actual sit-down restaurant at 2817 Detroit Ave. The restaurant will be behind the tiger mural along W 28th (the bottom wall in the floor plan below). I'll be curious to see how any signage will interact with the existing artwork.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
As someone who lived on Hessler a few years ago, I just sent an email in support of development co-opting the group link of email addresses on the coalition's site https://hesslerstreet.wordpress.com/ (Under the section "Fast, Effective and Easy Way to Help"). This goes to Councilman Blaine Griffin, Kim Scott Neighborhood Planner and chair of The Euclid Corridor Design Review Committee, and Karl Brunjes and Donald Petit with the Cleveland Landmarks Commission. I encourage anyone else with a connection to Hessler or who is currently living in University Circle to send an email in support of this project. The best way to counter a NIMBY is with a YIMBY.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Yep. This revised proposal isn't some improved vision that the neighbors fought for. They all hate it just as much. The street is full of sings saying "NO NEW DEVELOPMENT ON HESSLER." The coalition isn't requesting that the density be changed or the architecture be different: They're demanding nothing be built or renovated whatsoever. This is NIMBY to the extreme. From their website: The Hessler Community’s List of Demands: -Demand the restoration of Hessler’s stone sidewalks and curbs, century old sewers, brick and wood block paving and tree-scape. Hessler Road Historic District is Cleveland’s first historic district. The Cleveland Landmarks Commission was born out of the work done to protect Hessler. Hessler Court, the wood-block road, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. -Demand that UCI, Russell Berusch and Rick Maron honor the failed commitments they’ve made and repair the damage they’ve done to the Hessler Road Historic District, it’s community and it’s closest allies, the stewards of this street for decades. -Demand a true public meeting and a process that includes the community. -Demand that renovations at 1975 and 1981 Ford Drive do not displace tenants and do not allow rent by the bedroom in 1981 Ford. The Hessler community demands access to affordable, owner-occupied housing. The $940/bedroom for rent Berusch is getting in his Hessler 113 Townhomes is outrageous. His tenants are disruputve and unsupervised. This is ruining the character of the historic district. -Protect Hessler’s cultural legacy, home of the Hessler Street Fair, born out of bringing people together to provide vigilance for this street, constantly under threat of development and demolition. -Demand no new development and preserve the historic garage and backyard of 1975 Ford Drive as a shared community and event space in perpetuity for the Hessler community and the Street Fair. -Demand an end to the kinds of tax abatements that usher in developers who gobble up land and neighborhoods without regard for the fragile web of community that grew there over time.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
"Grant said discussions with developers, particularly apartment developers, have heated up over the past two months." That's a promising piece of news, not only on the future of Scranton Peninsula, but for apartment development in the whole city. Let's just hope that the next developer puts in more care compared to NRP's apartment proposal.
