Cincinnati: Hyde Park: Development and News
I agree. Hopefully it can expand to tie into the Covington Riverfront Development at the former IRS site. I'd hate to see the CRD negatively impact this historic and lively street/area.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Central Trust Tower
The "Lantern" is the 3 story green structure at the top of the Central Trust Building. At the base of the lantern was the public observation deck accessed via a 3-story spiral stair within the "Pyramid" section. The top of the Lantern was originally topped by a copper roof and medallion, but I was told it was removed and melted down for the copper in WWII. I believe the renters of the pyramid apartments will have access to the observation deck as an outdoor patio (it's quite large and circles the Lantern.

The PNC signs will remain. City Club Apartments (previous developer) signed with PNC on what I recall was a 10 year lease for the sign back in 2002 when I was working with them on the project (we later walked rather than doing the construction with that developer). As far as I know, there is not spire planned. The chimney opening in the top of the lantern is being capped since the boilers are not being used with no spire. We were reinstalling windows in the pyramid, even those behind the PNC sign. I assume that is still happening for the extremely large 3 story apartment in the pyramid. There were also extensive plans to light the exterior of the building. I assume that's still happening as well. It's great to see this project being finished by the new developer.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
thesenator replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionNearly all of these are mid-rise (5-10 stories). Unfortunately, Cincinnati is not, for the most part, a high-rise city, but maybe that’s one reason it’s a more comfortable city.

To me, it looks awfully similar to Queen City Tower without the tiara. In other words, blah with no sense of place.

When will they re-install the sidewalk and curb along McMillan? There’s no access to much of the commercial space.

Norwood: Development and News
thesenator replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI'm told only the facade of the Multi-Color Building will remain. The hazardous material mitigation cost was too high to keep the remainder of the building along with design challenges with an old warehouse building.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
thesenator replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI'd love to see 5th Street in front of Fountain Square made a pedestrian area and closed except to emergency vehicles. This would allow access to parking on Vine and Walnut and the streetcar on Walnut.

Even though Queen City Tower is more than 75% leased, it is far less than 50% “occupied”, even worse on Mondays and Fridays. Many floors are ghost towns with very few people actually working there. Who knows what will happen when leases roll over.

Does anyone know what's going on at Kemper Lane just above Columbia Parkway? An apartment building is being demolished and surrounding lots have been cleared. Owner of numerous parcels here is 1902 Kemper LLC.

thesenator replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI live in a condo, but I also can understand that SF homeowners bought their property with the understanding of the density of their next door neighbor's property. To change the zoning to what in effect is a MF property should require someone to follow the zoning process with public hearings, etc., not by legislation. These are property rights that we have in the US. I'm in favor of permitting the ADUs, but only if the property owner is a resident of the property.

thesenator replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt’s a great space. 1st floor will be fun for adults and families alike and the 3rd floor roof top deck is spectacular!
