Cleveland: Downtown Retail
^^ yeah Cinci still has it, but 10 years ago cbus and cleveland did too. Unfortunately, in this respect I thinks Cinci is on the back end of the curve- if macy's wasn't based from here would saks and macy's still be downtown?

New York Times article calls Put-in-Bay "Key West of the Great Lakes"
I would only be offended if the Blade or the Plain Dealer referred to PIB as the "Key West of the Great Lakes". Otherwise, it is simply a perspective thing "oh you NYkrs you have never heard of PIB, but its like KW only cheaper and less expensive and has less sharks", etc.

Why doesn't downtown Cleveland have....
^That's what I was going to say, living in downtown nashville (with a very reasonable cost of living) I am paying $1500 a month for a 2 bedroom. That's a good deal. It's ridiculous-my friend in NYC is paying $2700 for a subsidized 380 sq ft efficiency.

Cincinnati: Corryville: University Village
-I can't help but believe the demand will increase in that area-particularly along MLK and Highland/an d other perpendicular streets. I would pay a premium to avoid driving to work with the time and money constraints. >1000 residents and fellows work in the combined programs in the uptown area and I think the general leaning is to support the surrounding area.

Akron: Bridgestone Firestone Technical Center
Yeah, good for Akron. They just had a story on the Nashville local news about how it was another blow to Nashville's struggling economy. I had to chuckle a little.

Living in Downtown Cleveland
Today from the Dispatch- Not particularly informative, but nice Cleveland blurb from the AP. Rents downtown, near job centers rising Sunday, July 27, 2008 3:30 AM By J.W. Elphinstone ASSOCIATED PRESS Sick of filling up the tank for 60 bucks? Considering a place closer to your downtown job? Prepare to pay higher rents as more like-minded apartment dwellers flock to urban digs. Nationwide, rents near job centers and mass transit are rising faster than in other areas, according to New York-based real-estate research firm Reis Inc. The trend is strongest in Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Chicago, Seattle, Baltimore and Minneapolis. In downtown San Diego, for example, rents have jumped 15 percent in the past year, to between $2,400 and $2,600 a month for a two-bedroom apartment, said Gregg Neuman, owner of Neuman & Neuman Prudential Realty. Young renters and empty nesters want to walk to work or drive against rush-hour traffic to save time and gas. If they live a half-hour or an hour away, "they could rent the same apartment for $800," Neuman said, "but they're now spending an hour commute and another $700 to $800 (a month) on gas." In urban New York and New Jersey, Kamson Corp.'s apartments are filling up and pushing rents higher, while its suburban ones in Pennsylvania can't hold on to tenants. "We're finding people asking more questions about mass transit, what kind of services there are in the immediate area," said Mike Beirne, Kamson's executive vice president. Many cities are showing increases in public-transit ridership this year, according to the American Public Transportation Association.

Show a pic of yourself!
^^^^^ That building was torn down in the summer of 2004, I think it used to hold medical offices. It is now a surface combo lot for the VA/Children's/Zoo. I used to live directly across from the VA on Vine St. Are they currently widening Vine? I was there 1.5 months ago and did not notice them doing anything.

Painesville / Lake County: Development and News
-The Scene article is actually pretty upsetting- in that they have been rehabbing that sight from atleast 1998 when they were capping wells both physically on that sight and to the west- in Mentor Headlands- at the same time. The ground soil- and the brine wells- which are the worrisome pollution- are removed and/or isolated- allowing IMG to develop 1000 acres of upto now (and rightfully so) unused lake/riverfront land. I guess my point would be, that IMG would not develop land meant for the use of 8-17 year-olds that would allow them to be found liable for gross misrepresentation. Everybody in the universe knows that this was industrial, the EPA had to sign off on it. Unlike the Scene- I find it hard to belive that a company would expose itself to this type of litigation without researching the ramifications of building upon this site.

WSJ: "Texas vs. Ohio"
So, in states with no income tax, doesn't sales tax replace (for a large share) the lost revenue within the state? You pay less to make a living within the state, but pay more to "live" within the state theoretically.

I do hate that garage-although it rarely stopped me from parking there during Indians games in HS.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
LOL, I was in a wedding party that got some of their post wedding shots outside the Tenk building, about 3 weeks ago. The photographer wanted some urban grit--half the wedding party thought it was awesome, the other half thought that it was "ghetto" and wanted to go to the beach. We went to Edgewater, had some good pics, and then one of the brides maids looked down at their feet and noticed a used condom stuck under their choo's. We scrambled out of their fast, finished on the mall across from the marriott. The point at the end was we should have stayed at the Tenk building, the best photos ended up being there-great contrast.

Columbus wedding reception locales
Got a quick question for all you Columbusians. I am getting married in June 2009 and the fiance and I are looking for reception locations. We are getting married downtown at the Holy Cross church, and would like our reception to be downtown as well. Complicating the situation is the fact I currently live out of state (and therefore can only see the reception places online), and the fiance will be joining me down here approx July 12th. So we would ideally like to get this squared away before she relocates. We will have about 250 guests- some places that she will be visiting include the Athenaeum and the Vault. Has anybody had any experience with either of these places, and any other suggestions? Thanks for the help y'all.

Hey y'all! Help me decorate my new Nashville Loft! Please?
I'm color blind, and probably decoratively retarded - and renting! I will place photos of my place, but at the time have no dig pics-my cameras down, GF unavailable x 2 weeks. If anybody lives around here, please IM me. Appreciate any help, the building/complex is a manufacturing wearhouse, pretty freaking cool. And, KJP-I think-who has some N-ville experience, tell me if it is worth putting my roots down (8th ave N-Taylor Ave)! Luv u guys, peace and piece. Max
