Anybody going to be in DC Friday and want to get tickets to the game?
  2. this is depressing news, don't want these guys to get bought out. From the WSJ National City Looks for a Buyer By DAVID ENRICH and VALERIE BAUERLEIN March 13, 2008 12:49 p.m. National City Corp., a struggling Midwestern bank, has been hunting for investors to replenish its depleted coffers. Now the company is turning to a more drastic solution: trying to find someone to buy the bank. Another ailing lender, Washington Mutual Inc., also has retained Goldman to help drum up new capital, say people familiar with the matter. Seattle-based WaMu is the nation's largest savings-and-loan institution. In the fourth quarter, WaMu reported a $1.87 billion loss fueled by a sharp increase in its reserve for loan-related losses. Write to David Enrich at [email protected] and Valerie Bauerlein at [email protected]
  3. Well I know that they had two different highschools for along time (Harbor and A City, until I think '99?). Wasn't the City High School right in downtown? I was a Painesville kid and remember playing HS football right around the downtown. Maybe I could be mistaken. BUT God I loved Carlisles' as a kid!
  4. It's usually who ever is in "residence", unless it is put into your rental contract. If you live in a townhouse/condo/apartment complex your lease or addendum usually states it's the leasing company's responsibility.
  5. exactly as it should be, lets get it built!
  6. ^^^^ I was referring more to the city population (pollocks, eastern euros, little italy area) and past-as far as industrialization. The neighborhoods and hilly terrain remind me of cincinnati. Also, I think Cinci and Pittsburgh have two of the most dramatic approaches to downtown. Cinci has the cut in the hill on the Kentucky side, and Pittsburgh has the view of downtown as you come through the tunnel (don't remember the road name). Both views are awesome and totally unexpected as your driving.
  7. Just had an interview in Pittsburgh, met up with some friends in Regent Square and got a hot Italian sausage at D's Six Pack & Dogs which was delicious by the way. Seems like an awesome area. Pittsburgh reminds me of Cleveland plopped down in the hills of Cincinnati.
  8. I'm sure that building is standing in the way of some massive building the clinic wants to put up in 5-10-20 years. They're just getting all their parking lots stacked up in a row. I hope to God they don't demo that building though.
  9. Yeah, I would have to say kingsgate caters to a different crowd then the Hampton Inn will attract.
  10. If you think you could live as faraway as Painesville/Mentor giveme a hollar. 25 minutes no traffic from downtown and probably 25 minutes from cleve hts no traffic as wll. Depends on where you are planning on working.
  11. Where in down town are these located. I think the asthetics on the outside are pretty intriguing minus the panama city beach style balconies on the one corner/half-side. If I moved back to Cbus I would consider living there. What is the social scene like in that area?

Yeahhh, my adopted home town. I walk my dog on floral all the time, and I always wonder about the history of the house in the 2nd to last picture. Anybody have any ideas on when and who it was built for. It looks like an antibellum mansion from the deep south. I love it.

The old Jewish Hospital (prior to the move out to Kenwood) and Holmes hospital are also technically in pill hill. But are not really used as hospitals now.
  14. A muslim immigrant that wanted to get on The Amazing Race (and whom Tina Fey subsequently got tortured by Homeland Security) was describing all the exotic places that he had traveled to ending with . . . . "The Cleve".
  15. The Cleve got another shout out on 30 Rock last night, you had to have a quick ear but it was definitely there.

I feel sorry for the kid, but man what a stupid reason and way to get killed. I also love the term "graffiti artist" used in this context. Graffiti artist killed by rapid train Posted by Donna J. Miller November 15, 2007 11:46AM Categories: Top Story RTA police say the 19-year-old man who was hit and killed by an RTA train in Lakewood last night was a graffiti artist who had been walking the tracks with two others. Criminal charges are pending against the survivors, RTA spokesman Chad Self said this morning. The dead man was Christopher Eishamy, the coroner's office said. Eishamy's address of record was in Bethpage, N.Y. but he lived on Halstead Avenue in Lakewood. The trio were near Lakewood Heights Boulevard just before 10 p.m. Wednesday when the teen was hit. Passengers on the train were shuttled from the scene. Train travel in both directions was delayed by 35 to 40 minutes, affecting riders leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers game at The Q. The game ended about 9:50 p.m. East- and westbound passengers were shuttled between the West 117th Street station and the West Park rapid station.
  17. ^Awesome, I didn't realize that was strangebrew being "interviewed".
  18. I like it too.
  19. It probably looks good on a resume as well. They also might just enjoy teaching.
  20. Wow, sad news. On an unusual side note I first heard about the Cleveland shootings on BBC World news.
  21. The more I see of the GLSC the more I love the building. Nice pics :)
  22. I would be amazed if there was as many as. . . . . . . . 1 person moving from Norwood to the Ascent.

Cincinnati and Cleveland should just incorporate their respective counties, aka Louisville, and snatch up all the wealthy suburbs. For many of these cities it is really like comparing apples and oranges, with the cities that are completely encircled by burbs getting screwed. By the way I know neither city would actually be able to annex all the surrounding cities in their county.
