Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
Agreed. While the pedestrian bridges and Ontario's blank walls are a poor indication of its potential, Bedrock has done a great job of using high quality materials for its projects. They just need to better integrate their projects into the streetscapes.

Concrete tubes. Don't they build tunnels through river silt over bedrock? The World Trade Center site is built in a bathtub-like structure on Bedrock and landfill that holds back the Hudson River.

...the "second" stupid pedestrian bridge...

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
It's right across the street from RMFH and a block from both PF and E. 4th Street. So rather than capitalize on the location, you build a 25 story non-descript office building. Seriously? Granted, it will be the first class A office space since E&Y Tower, but this could have been built anywhere in the CBD. That location is reminiscent of the area around Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

They got their wish. It's a shame for that particular location. It could have been so much more. A wasted opportunity, but then again, social distancing may be here to stay.

Since demolition is prohibited, it looks like Stark is going to build around/over it. Great rendering! I'm just thoroughly disgusted with Nucleus though. It's not even an interesting office building; E&Y Tower has more interesting features. Its just an average, run of the mill office building; new, but no different than any located along East 9th. It doesn't even distinguish with height.

I'll save my props for when this project is actually built. We went from the iconic junga hotel/office/apartment complex to the office/apartment complex to a basic office building. Let's see what comes next.

Cleveland: Ohio City: INTRO (Market Square / Harbor Bay Development)
While most strip malls are abhorrent, you must admit that this one was one of the more attractive designs. Not that its demise isn't a sign of progress and its replacement a much better use of the land, but I think we can all agree there are so many other stripmalls that are far less attractive and should suffer the same fate.

It amazes me that the government subsidized portion of the development (residential) is now being scrapped, while the portion that would have benefitted from the postponed TMUD (commercial) is moving forward. It's just whacky!

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
It's a shame that this is the culmination of the past five years of exhilaration, propaganda, anticipation and hype; especially when the office component was the portion of the development that lacked government financial support.

The Herold Building renovation is a huge win. It's great to salvage that building but this new "One Nucleus," leaves me a bit underwhelmed.

As I recall, this is a multi-million dollar project. This project is moving forward whereas the iconic Rosales project across the Shoreway and RR tracks, including its $35M financing was placed on hold, indefinitely. Go figure?

Not sure if this is the correct location to post this, but I sure do hope the Westside Market survives until the completion of this development. I think they can compliment one another. https://trib.al/6ZOarEt

Cleveland: Downtown: The Lumen
Projected from behind; across the street? Does anyone know?
-
Cleveland: Downtown: The Lumen
^ If done similar to screens on garage pedestals in Miami, there's no projection. It would be a blank slate that can accommodate massive, and I do mean massive, canvas posters of upcoming events or commercial advertisements.

^ What an improvement to that stretch of Prospect! Once complete, it should also be much brighter at night.

Please write to your Governor, your Representatives, your Senators... We need immediate approvals for antibody testing so we can maintain critical development projects, their funding and the remainder of our economy. Reopening portions of the economy is dependent upon knowing who's protected, who is still at risk of infection and the potential morbidity and mortality for those who are still at risk.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
I see absolutely no reference to that recirculated air being forced specifically through HEPA filters however. I'd feel a little more comfortable knowing that the recirculated portion is HEPA filtered. Furthermore, no filtration system can protect passengers from an ill passenger in an adjacent seat. You still have tremendous exposure to unsanitary surfaces and potentially un-HEPA filtered air on planes. When I was younger, I would travel in suits and more formal attire; until I saw a sick passenger and a child ruin a seat cushion and armrest. They were cleaned and swapped out at the next stop. Today, I'm ultra casual on flights.

The May Company photos start on page 9. These are some absolutely incredible nostalgic photos of May Company, as well as other retailers. It really gives you a sense of the enthusiasm that existed around the shopping experience. It's a shame it's gone. A few celebrity sightings are thrown in for good measure. ...and yes, international carriers PanAm, as well as TWA and Northwest Orient, used to fly into/out of Cleveland. https://photos.clevescene.com/115-vintage-photos-of-shopping-in-cleveland-including-may-company-halles-and-higbees/?slide=9&may-company-cleveland

I thought I saw a reference to the City doing some street renovations and beautification along Euclid Ave. If so, would that be this Spring/Summer and include the areas around all of these new developments, down to the May Co./Public Square?

I love the lobby pictures that reference historical Euclid Avenue, with its streetcars and Baker's Department Store.

I think they're going to have to use chemicals on that one.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Has starting rents at $2500/mo. It may slow things down a bit in the "for sale segment," but that could also signal a more meaningful development at the Spaghetti House site. ?

^ How time flies. It seems like just yesterday that we were discussing the Lumen webcam instalation and delays in pouring the foundation. That was two years ago.
