  1. I see the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority is providing $10M in taxable bonds in support of the $11.3M project. Is that correct and why? The CCF isn't going anywhere.
  2. As reported elsewhere on UO, Knez has their name on and has been building townhomes, apartments and single-family homes all over the city. Nothing too major, but collectively, they are changing the face of the Cleveland.
  3. They could be planning something similar to those in The Woodlands, TX; they're nicely landscaped, fit right into the community, and believe it or not, attractive for a gas station/convenience store.
  4. Unless I'm reading this incorrectly, this map would also indicate that the heaviest investments have been in the CBD and along the Euclid Avenue (Healthline) corridor.
  5. This represents a major improvement, thanks. As for Brookpark Rd., it seems like there was previously talk of submerging, with runways passing over the roadway, similar to what you see at so many other airports, but they went with simply rerouting Brookpark to the north instead. I guess it was less expensive.
  6. Does anyone have copies of the initial 9th & Bolivar renderings to post?
  7. I'm very surprised that some of the vacant retail locations downtown aren't occupied by Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T- Mobile, Cricket or other wireless carriers. They and banks, restaurants/bars are usually the first retail establishments to occupy vacancies. They can easily cater to the neighborhood and the downtown workers.
  8. It's been mentioned before but it warrants repeating. The developer's target audience are those living within the NEO region. That means mostly, not exclusively, suburban and exurban residents. They want the same thing they're used to in the suburbs; free parking and easy access. These shoppers are not going to pay to park on Euclid or in Tower City, then battle traffic to get back to their suburban hamlets. This location provides easy access and may also provide the City of Cleveland with additional, drastically needed revenue and jobs.
  9. They can use Sherwin William's paints to keep it looking fresh!
  10. Typical. You shouldn't be surprised. It's a lightening rod project, as is clear from this thread. Seeing the project as more than an Outlet Mall near downtown, but not in downtown requires vision and recognition of opportunities, beyond the obvious. Unless the Shoreway and railroad tracks are moved or submerged, which isn't going to happen anytime soon, that parcel of land will have little value beyond it's current use. Then again, there may be "other" parties with a vested interest in not seeing this project come to fruition. Off the top of my head, I can think of several mentioned upthread.
  11. I also just noticed that the glass on the east and north sides only is articulated to produce different planes. Verticle stripes on those sides would not align with the articulation.
  12. I'm still trying to understand the rationale for the verticle stripes on the east and south facades. Anyone have any ideas?
  13. National City Bank (PNC) was always a standout. As I recall, it was, dare I say it, the first modern white building built in the CBD . It's unfortunate that it resulted in the demolition of the somewhat futuristic looking Bonds Department Store building, but it's been a welcome, albeit dramatic departure from the typical brown, beige and gray.
  14. The travesty continues... https://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/2020/02/awol-fire-chief-at-cleveland-hopkins-international-airport-suspended-without-pay.html
  15. When you think of the most recent additions to the CBD skyline, the Hilton, the Beacon, the Lumen and soon, City Club, there's nothing ordinary about any of them.
  16. Cleveland is one of the few cities in the country that has three professional sporting venues within walking distance of one another. That's a huge asset for the urban core; its value should not be overlooked.
  17. Wasn't this ($300M) about the cost of the Hilton?
  18. We're all excited for retaining SW. Is it me, or does the number for the HQ cost, continue to shrink? I thought the original cost for the combination (R&D and HQ) was $1B, then the last number was $600M for HQ, now we're at $300M.
  19. The photo speaks for itself and Litt has been proven wrong. While not historical, this building takes my breath away with such a strong Euclid presence.
  20. Great photo PaulinCleveland! Despite what had been projected to be a building that would fade into the city's grey or sunny skies, instead it has a definitive and dramatic impact on the city's skyline.
  21. Sounds like there's reason to celebrate as downtown Cleveland approaches oh-so-important 20K mark. 30K, here we come! https://www.freshwatercleveland.com/breaking-ground/DowntownGrowth021820.aspx?fbclid=IwAR0jkWtzeEYWDA8g9PX5LblrkV6He1VM1AR7scOt6_bmrq4w0YhgjI5O_gs
  22. I am so glad to see all of these projects come to fruition. While urban redevelopment is great and has done wonders, there are still large swaths of the population who are Seniors and/or those struggling to earn a living wage, who cannot afford market-rate housing. These redevelopments address that need.
  23. You should learn percentages
  24. Finally.... 1.2% of 900k is a lot more jobs than 1.2% of 300k. Try focusing on actual statistics, not some alternate reality.
